  1. They are so cute - they are videos of what they do best - have fun! Jake is no pushover is he!!
  2. Ha Ha! Yes Bernie - and I'll be fighting my whippet to get to that outside loo!!!

  4. Check you out! That's unbelievable Dee - I wish I had the patience to sit and even TRY to make things!! I'm sure Juno will love it too!!
  5. Goodness me Vicki - where is your zoo sited!! I'm tearing my hair out with one bird - never mind the rest of your menagerie! Can't wait to see some of your photos
  6. You remember that life isn't all about watching soap operas because you don't get the chance - you're cleaning up feathers, poop, food......!
  7. He's lovely Pixie - thanks for the photos. The only thing I would probably add (and I know you've just got him) is that I would change the dowel perches - they aren't good for their feet as they adopt the "hunched" feet routine - a cement perch, or a java branch is much more suitable as this keeps his feet at different positions.
  8. League of their Own Every time a bell rings, an angel gets it's wings (one of my favourite films ever, ever ever)!
  9. Funnily enough - they are the ones I rang! I rang and asked if I could have an appointment with their "avian vet" - the receptionist stumbled, mumbled and then I said "bird". She said "oh yes, we see birds". I said that I was sure they "saw birds" but I wanted a vet with specific avian qualifications. She said they didn't have any!! I actually contacted the UK Parrot Society about the listings and I was concerned that Firstvets was listed incorrectly (or just had absolutely thick staff)!!!!

  11. Taxi Driver A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.
  12. Sheila - where did you find these - I ask because the "Avian Vet" listed in my area, when I rang the receptionist didn't even know what avian meant! I need to find a real one for Harvey's annual check in December ~ find me one near!!!
  13. I'm not surprised!! You have got it all twisted!! I think it might be a little too big for him too! Laughing asides - Harvey bites his all of the time - I just try to distract him. It does say in the DVD that it's a foreign object and they do try to preen around it and things to make it feel more comfortable and "fit in" with the rest of their bodies. It's lovely to see new pictures of Mocha - he is beautiful - those feathers are so shiny.
  14. So - Santa's a parrot! That's one to confuse the kids! Thanks for this - very cute xx
  15. Just a little update on my "seagull". The weather here in North East England is damp, rainy and windy today - so you've guessed it - in come the gulls! We were having a lie in this morning and usually Harvey doesn't make a sound until he hears us downstairs - this is the first time I have heard him before this and yup - you've guessed it - I had a seagull in my hall!!!
  16. I think this is a trick question!! Michael Caine never actually said this - so are we looking for someone else who said it?
  17. Ha Ha! Neither am I - my first year with Harvey and I'm hoping my Christmas Trees aren't going to be his "homemade toys". Oh how I'm dreading it! Yes, I'd love to see some too - might give me inspiration!

  20. Yipeee! I deserve a drink! I have my 21 month old niece coming for the day tomorrow (unfortunately without her parents!!!). So, I'll have to dose myself up tonight for the day ahead tomorrow! And I took the day off work and have had such a fun day! I have (in order) - cleaned the kitchen, dusted, hoovered, cleaned the bathrooms, etc etc - and to round it off - I dusted each and every one of the fittings on my bedroom light: Therefore - I think a little tipple is bloody well deserved! I am knackered!!
  21. We don't subscribe - just asked about at work when we were bringing Harvey home and then had to ask them to stop - we have enough until he reaches 100!!
  22. The Parrot Society UK (I know you're in Ireland - but they include Ireland in their literature) only lists the one in Wicklow. In a real emergency a "normal" vet is better than none - but for your check ups etc the trip to Wicklow would be worthwhile x
  23. Of course he loves Tiggs Julie - he's a big Southern softie!!!
