1. I was reluctant to move him in here because it's such a small room, also one of the reasons we bought Argyle was for company for Beau so moving him in here defeated the object of getting him in the first place - there certainly is no room in here for Beau as well! Saying this, Beau seems perfectly content in the ajoining room so I had no reason to belive Argyle was unhappy in there. I certainly didn't know that moving him would have such a positive effect on his mood, if I had I'd have done it a lot sooner! All the other advice Caroline gave me I was already doing so it is definately the change of scenery that did it.
2. Happily I can now report that there is a vast improvement in Argyle's (my hahns) behaviour. He has lost much of his agression and I can now put my hands into his cage for whatever reason without fear of having a beak hanging from it ;-) He is a lot more content these days and the reason for this huge turnabout? A piece of simple advice from Caroline "why not try moving him into the adjoining room where you sit when you are on your laptop, speak to him, interact with him and offer treats" much of this I was already doing with the exception of moving him into this room. All the advice I took from a behaviourist + others and the simplest thing worked for him. Don't get me wrong hahns do have a bit of a reputation for being "nippy" but I no longer feel that he is an agressive bird so for anyone having agression problems with their fids (particularly macaws) it is worth moving them into a busier room as well as interacting with them whenever possible. If you get to read this Caroline, THANK YOU!
3. :woohoo: I hate to say it but...ahem, I told you so Jill. I've always had faith that Harvey would talk.

14. What is considered a normal weight fluctuation in a CAG, does anyone know? The first time I weighed Beau he was 420 gms (I think) I weighed him today and he was 417. Bear in mind that Beau is quite small for a CAG lol.

Post edited by: Joolesgreyuk, at: 2010/03/12 20:31
15. Lovely pictures but so sad about the grey who plucked when his owner was on holiday.
16. http://www.tamesideadvertiser.co.uk/news/s/1198067_transplant_girl_tells_her_story_online Does anyone know of anything about this human condition which apparently is brought about by poor hygene in pet birds and also in the food industry - in fact anywhere where live birds are kept? I'd never heard of this until today!
17. Another day for me and an average person's life, a day to go about our work to bear no sacrifice. the day at a close, news turned on events becoming clear, more heros return, flag-draped coffins, a burden the country must bear. A villiage turns out to pay it's respects it's becoming a weekly event. Too many, too young, a sacrifice, it seems that god only lent. How many more we say as we weep, tears falling once more as we view silent procession of cars passing by why? I haven't a clue. War is a word that causes such pain for those that are left behind. What is there left to fight for when death brings us no peace of mind? Why do we send our men to fight in a land so far away? Why is it so important when young lives are taken to pay? Who ever said that fighting brought peace to all mankind. Peace and love and forgiveness should be easy enough to find. So bring our heros home at once, they don't deserve to die, bring them back to rapturous applause and bring arms down to lie. Until this happens I offer a prayer: Lord keep them safe I ask, our precious brothers, husbands and sons and give then strength in their task. Overcome once more by TV images
18. Actually Jill when I first joined this forum we were indeed top of the heap, unfortunately if you key in "parrot forums" now we have now slipped to page 3 with 2 African Grey forums (and other parrot forums) ahead of us. This one does seem to be the busiest one though which does give it the edge and it's free of course. Many others do (as you rightly say) advertise but the ones I have looked at only seem to advertise parrot-related stuff which can be useful. Not wishing to venture away from the main topic here, the tech guys have certainly had their work cut out in the last few weeks and especially this week. Let's hope everything is restored back to how it used to be (with all the features we used to have) soon. It certainly was back up and running quicker than I expected so well done guys.
19. Jay & Maggie, your fids eat like kings. I am in awe of you guys. Karma!
20. Sounds more promising each time you post, all the signs are there for a full recovery. All power to Vree!
