1. Morning feathered mates! First of all I'd like to say how happy I am that one of our colleagues has been found safe & well, I am one happy birdy to hear this! Argyle is delighted with this news too as is mum. Precious, I'm sorry to hear you have a little sick human in your house not least cos you don't want the germs do you? Mum was late getting my breakfast this morning, humans can be sooooo lazy sometimes and we have mum's older human son staying in the house this weekend, he is SO LOUD, I like it best when he goes  I guess he means well but I like things more quiet and normal tbh. At least he didn't bring that huge thing with strings that plays "music" pah! I can sing better than that thing and they call THAT music??! Never mind, mum will be next to me doing the ironing this afternoon whilst we have the radio on, I like the radio, we listen to this noise, mum says it's Plymouth Argyle playing football but whatever it is it makes mum  and she bangs the iron down most of the time. What does "goal", "lose/lost" mean anyway? Must fly, serious singing to do. Beau XX
2. Yes it is so cute when the drink and you can hear their little tongues LOL It's rare for me to see anything cute about Argyle (cos he's a little  ) but he does have the odd good day. One day last week he came out and sat on my arm for about an hour and he was tasting my hand all over with his tongue, bear in mind this is a small bird so tiny tongue, it was soooo cute and it was the point that I realised he had turned a corner. BTW JD, karma going your way for the lovely pictures, they perfectly show just how cute your grey is and the clarity - amazing!

Post edited by: Joolesgreyuk, at: 2010/02/20 11:49
3. OMG this is wonderful news to wake up to this morning! Thank the lord and well done you for staying strong.
4. What do they feed it Jan - pasties or clotted cream? ;-)
5. I am really hopeful that this IS Pepper, please put us out of our misery asap.
6. Oh bless him, give him the bills Jill
7. Brittany please don't dispair, you have a great tool in the binocs, you will be able to spot her if you are near her. Look for the nearest area where there are plenty of trees. Walk, stop and use the binoculars to scan the trees, look carefully up and down the trees. Don't forget to call her. My guess is that Pepper will make her way to the highest spot - or near highest anyway. Don't forget buildings, look out for the red tail as the grey won't show up as much on buildings. Carry a few treats with you to entice her down and don't forget to enlist others situated at different areas. Please know that we are all with you in spirit. Everything is crossed here.
8. Chocco I do sympathise, I've not had a good day either, that stupid Argyle asked for a shower and so I ended up having to endure one as well, ugh water every flippin' where, I hate it, why couldn't Argyle have kept his beak shut  I hate that green thing grr! Harvey, I hope your parrants are better today, how inconsiderate of them to keep rushing to the loo when they have you to serve I have also had to endure an extra child the last couple of days, I don't much like kids. Why do they always think you will talk to them??? Ha in their dreams! Anyway, I have some serious drying off to so. Laters xx
9. Have you tried talking to a behaviourist?
10. Come on Spock you must eat to build your stregnth up otherwise those humans will rule the roost. ;-)
11. Oh Brittany, I know how much you love Pepper and I know how you must be feeling, poor you. Have you tried all the forums, informing all the local vets, pet shops? Try putting notices in the local supermarkets and newspapers. Get as many friends and family members to help in the search and try looking for Pepper just before dawn and again evenings, he is more likely to be vocal and you are also more likely to hear him. Sending you hugs and wishing you all the luck in the world. Please don't waste any time crying, put all your efforts into finding Pepper, never reproach yourself, you don't deserve it and it serves no purpose.
12. Hi Suzzique, First let me just say OMG I do sympathise and the reason for this is that I've very much been in your shoes, to a certain extent I still am! I don't have or ever have had a senegal but most parrots have similar traits some are just worse than others. My hahn's macaw has behaved in a similar manor and I am working hard to "mellow" him but there are no hard & fast rules nor guarantees. Your daughter appears to be his favourite and I know how it feels to be the one who feeds, cleans etc. and be considered the enemy but they all have one favourite in the household whom they seem to love above all others, even so there is no reason why you can't have a relationship with Martini even if it isn't as strong as the relationship he has with your daughter. Any friendship you try to forge with Martini should be done when you are alone with him and when your daughter (and others he has taken to) are around It's best to try to stay in the background as much as possible. Don't allow him to sit on you at all, you are just inviting him to attack when he feels like it. Chances are he is hormonal and/or territorial but you are spot-on with what you say about clipping. I have considered it myself and I will do so but only after I have explored all other avenues. My advice is to start training him when he is inside his cage and you are alone, speak softly to him and keep offering treats. Learn to read his body language, all parrots' body language differs, my hahns shuffles uneasily back and forth when nervous but my grey's body language is completely different! You will have to build up a trust with Martini but it won't happen overnight and you will have to be patient. Good luck
13. Wow they sure are growing and getting feathers now, how cute.
14. I didn't teach Beau to eat all my buttons and zips or to destroy all my wood, I didn't teach him to crap on the carpet, I didn't teach him to imitate the pips on the radio....
15. Yes Janet, Argyle my hahns macaw has learnt to create a racket when there is a stranger in the house or even in the garden, he also shrieks when I start the vacum cleaner up. Oh yes and I didn't teach he to bite the crap out of me either, that came naturally
16. Afternoon feathered mates, Argyle here. Good to have you on board Precious, I hope your mum gets well soon, no one quite looks after us like a mum do they and I'm on my second mum now - boy do I let her know who's boss around here. Want to know a secret guys? That Beau is a dirty  he hates having a bath or shower, when one of the humans approach him with the mister he starts squaking, ugh the shame of it! Glad I don't sit too close to him. Mum has got me a water dish big enough for me to use as a bath now because I couldn't get enough of them. I smell so sweet these days Mum has been busy putting Beau's new travel cage together, ha if she had a brain cell she'd be dangerous, you could almost see the cogs going round as she tried to work out how it went  Looks like I will stay with mum's uncle when they go away, I just could get spoilt as he likes parrots  Anyway, must go, preening to do. Catch y'all later. X
17. Love it when Beau says "bye" to me when I leave the house mornings. Love the way he fans his tail and says "bobo" when I get in. Love it when he puts his head down for scritches. Love it when he steadies himself climbing onto my hand with a gentle beak. Love it when he follows (flies to) me into the kitchen Love it when he is eating something he loves and his eyes "pin" So in short then; I love my Beau ;-)
18. Still wishing Spock well, he had been through so much. Spock the BRAVE!
19. OK I'll have a go, I'm a sucker for quizzes LOL 1. B 2. C 3. B 4. C 5. C 6. B 7. D 8. B 9. C 10. B 11. C 12. C 13. D 14. C 15. D
20. I don't feel qualified to take it Janet as I don't own a zon otherwise I'd give it a shot!
21. Taking on board what Dave has said, maybe a better question would be "which bird would you chose if you could add to your flock?" This question could be aimed at individuals and my guess it there would be dozens of different answers. For me, if I had a huge house and lots of spare time & money I guess a hyacinth would be my most longed-for bird but if space and time was limited I think I'd go for conures and lovebirds. One grey is enough for me, I adore them but they are hard work.
22. I love it when they still have their baby black eyes
23. Encouraging news on Rishi, long may it continue. XX
