  1. Congratulations on bringing the little guy home. Does he have a name yet? As Judy says he will guide you as to when he is ready to take those tiny steps forward but your patence will be rewarded with a happy well-adjusted parrot and he will repay you with many laughs and smiles. Let the fun commence!
  2. Very sad but unfortunately not that uncommon. Suffolk is nowhere near me I'm afraid, I'm in the SW corner of the UK. Maybe we should post his number all over the place so he gets hundreds of unwanted phone calls lol. Cruelty is rife and it's not only confined to animals and birds, we live in a throw away society - easy come, easy go.
  3. It has been removed so I'm unable to view it.
  4. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending.
  5. Greywings, you summed this up well, the written word often gets misinterpritated (if that's the correct spelling lol) and we do get over protective of our feathered friends, at the end of the day we all want what's best for them. Thank you for your common sense post Greywings.
  6. Jay, compared to Beau my CAG, Argyle's beak is deadly lol. Beau's is more likened to a clamp, Argyle's on the other hand...well I'll say no more. You have to love 'em I agree.
  7. I would imagine large macaws to have the same bold personalities though Jay. The little ones are a big bird wrapped up in a small body. Of course never having had a large macaw I may be wrong, they could be little cuddle muffins. To me small beaks are far more deadly than big ones though.
  8. I'm the same, hate bullying. I'm sure we have scared this lady away with our comments, well some of them. I hope not because she obviously could do with the advice and guidance. Yes Jill hindsight is a wonderful thing. Looking lack I was a little inexperienced when we got Argyle our hahns. He may be small but no one had told him apparently. He is a small bird with a big, bold personality and it is only because I'm also strong willed and wasn't going to be beat by him that I coped - I was VERY close to getting him clipped but still he thinks he is the boss in this houselold, I allow him that little thought ;-) Macaws and young children though - forget it! Two severe's?, Definately not to be taken lightly - by anyone in any situation let alone a beginner!
  9. I think we should all simmer down a bit. Jay is quite right in what he has said as is Jill. Even if this person has made a huge mistake, hopefully she has learned from it. I think we all learn as we go along but hopefully most of us do research before taking on a parrot. Personally I don't think parrots of any type work in a house with young children, they simply do not mix. IMO macaws are not a beginner's parrot anyway, they are (mostly) large and very demanding, they have huge personalities and they like being boss. You have to be confident around them and they're not for the faint-hearted. Hopefully this lady has learnt from this but as Jill says she deserves to be treated with a little respect on the forum even if we do find some of what she is saying upsetting.
  10. Hello sunshine grey and welcome to the forum. First of all you really need to see this bird for yourself to ensure he looks healthy, you will be able to tell if he is a plucker. A 3 year old grey is a very young bird and not yet an adult and although he sounds like he has been well cared for sadly he has been somewhat neglected. In answer to your question, yes he can be tamed once again but it will be a slow process as you will have to learn to trust one another - don't expect quick results, perseverance is the key here. If he is cage bound he is probaly territorial which explains the "latching on". If you decide to go ahead and take on this lil guy give him time to adjust to you and his new surroundings until he seems happy and then try leaving his door open, if after doing this for a while he still seems reluctant then try placing treats just outside the cage until gradually he can resist no more but I can't stress enough that none of these things should be rushed. There will be plenty of people on here to advise you on training if you post in the training room with your questions - there may already be answers there on the topics you need advice on. Good luck and may your decision be the right one.
  11. That is a great atom Issac has there Steve.
  12. One of the most beautiful of the British wild birds is the green woodpecker, I am fortunate enough to see this bird near my home on occasion as I live close to a woodland area. This bird is incredibly beautiful and pictures cannot do it justice. I once saw the back of one as I approached my house in the car and thought it was someone's missing parrot the colours are so dramatic when you are close. These birds are mainly green with a red cap, the top of it's tail is yellow and this colour runs up the back of the bird. The top half of it's wings are green. I never have my camera with me when I see this bird and even if I did I wouldn't have time to take a picture so I have provided a link: http://www.animalpicturesarchive.com/view.php?tid=3&did=3433
  13. Too many Newcastle matches with fouls going on perhaps Jill? Ahem!

  16. I adore the beach boys (showing my age here) and wilst searching for their music on youtube I found this, no matter how many times I watch this it always makes me laugh so I thought I'd share with you guys:
  17. Some amazing pictures on here. Janet you are soooo lucky that Ana Grey enjoys bathing - lovely pictures of her in the water and enjoying her slice of orange. Great picture of Issac also - precious!
  18. That is so funny Sheila. Isn't it funny how we get our fids involved with our foorball teams. Love it!

  20. The wood is about 200yds from my house, it covers quite a large area and the deer are used to human activity - as long as you don't get too close. I wanted to capture carpets of bluebells alas I think they are only just beginning to emerge. Maybe in a week or two I will venture out with my camera again.
  21. Woohoo for Dayo, you show your daddy who is boss in your house little guy! Happy hatchday! Lots of toys and goodies for you then. ;-)
