Ok so yeah, I swear I am not a bad cook, lol, BUT the other night I was cooking some rice on the stove, I set the timer for 20 mins, grabbed a stop watch and went outside, I was doing some yard trimming and stuff outside, Well when my alarm beeped and it had been 20 mins, I went to retrieve the rice...Well I walked in and I couldnt see my hand in front of my face, HELLO IDIOT ME, I FORGOT TO TURN THE STOVE OFF HIGH HEAT....The house was totally filled with smoke...The first thing I thought was THE BIRDS....SO I grabbed the pot off the stove and turned the heat off so it would smoke any worse, Then I ran to Calypso's cage grabbed her (she totally freaked out by the way and was biting at me, but I didnt care) ran her outside to her play tree, Grabbed my Quaker and ran him outside, The went for the Tiel and lovebird, Put them out, SHOOT, I cant leave them out thier with my cat!, SO I went to grab the cat, And he ran from me, cuz I was scaring him, I was just in total adrenaline mode, So I know it isnt very nice but I had to act, I grabbed him by the tail as he was running from me, Picked him up and put him in the garage...Opened all the windows and doors, Turned all the fans on....Whew...All this in under 3 mins....Oh and by the way, When I say I put the birds outside, It is an outside screened in porch, so not outside outside where they could fly away...Just thought I would clarify that, lol. Anyway, smoke was just barraling out of the house and made the whole street I live on fill with smoke, It was absolutly aweful, the pot was was probably moments away from going up in flames. It actually BROKE my pot! It split in 2. I aired the house out, and got all the smoke out, But it smeeled SO bad in thier...But I couldnt leave the birds out all night, I had to bring them in, I was SO worried about them, I slept out in the living room with them all night to keep an eye on them. And THANK GOODNESS, They are all just fine...but Wow, That was NOT a good experiance. I was so freaked out I felt like a mom rushing in to save her kids from a burning building, lol I got an instant headache from the smoke, and could hardly breath, I couldnt imagine how it was affecting the birds with lungs a million times smaller than mine Thank goodness I had my stop watch on, What if I didnt! What if I forgot I was even cooking rice and got all into my yard triming?! I would of killed them all! uuuggghhh, I just cant think about it...Anyway, I just thought I would share this AWEFUL experiance with everyone. OH but to end on a good note, Yesterday, Calyspo said HI BABY! YAY! She is no mute! So now she says Hello and HI baby...The Hi baby still sounds like a robot, lol, But I know it will get more and more clear as she practices. Her "hello" sounds JUST like me now! It actually scared me the other day, I thought for an instant some one was in my house! Anyway, Thanks for reading

Hello First I am sorry, But I dont know how old your bird is, But when they are young and even sometimes when they are older, they like Warm foods, My Grey is about 14 months and still likes warm food, Just like her formula was warm, So maybe if you tried warming the veggies he might be more interested. I also have a Cockatiel and lovebird that wont touch veggies, So I put them in a birdie bread recipe and they tear it up! lol So maybe you could try that too. As far fruit goes, I like to make homemade oatmeal and chop up fresh strawberries, Blueberries, ect, and mix it in with the oatmeal...this is also a hit in my house And with the poo, Are his pellets colored? Because this can change thier poo colors. I dont know what he is eating, But anything that has color to it will chage the color of thier poo. If not, I dont know maybe someone else could chime in on this one And lets see, The string in his beak, Most likely he would get it out on his own, I think they put food and stuff under thier tounge a lot, and then eat it or get it out eventually. I use to think Calypso was eating paper, Till I saw her strategically place it under her tounge and then moments later get it back out play with it a little more than drop it. But in any moment you think is dangerous I would probably towl them, Is he use to the towl? IF not maybe you should get him use to it by playing games of peek a boo with him and a towl, so he isnt afraid of it. Just put it around him so he cant bite, and then you could deal with whatever was needed, like if you did have to get something out of his mouth, Or trim his nails, or wings or whatever. Getting him to step up, LOL I know this posture your talking about, The putting his head down so you cant get your finger under thier belly, lol, My Quaker Parrot does this, The little stinker....But I think you could train him to step up on a dowl rod. And if he tries to bite it, Oh well, Its not your finger...haha, And then you can get it under thier belly over thier feet and just keep repeating "step up" And use positive reinforcement, If he does it praise him, or give him his favorite treat, like a peanut, or almond, or whatever he really likes. Then he will know what "step up" means, and hopefully eventually step up on your finger. Well I hope I helped! And feel free to ask as many questions as you want, it is what we are all here for!

Very nice They are brave sometimes huh? Calypso only does this when I am having certain food, When it is Pasta night, It is GAME ON, She has actually scampered over to me and actually tried to take the food right outta my mouth! Little stinker, So I make her her own dish now whenever we have pasta, lol Jeeze, Sometimes they just have NO table manners, lol
-
LOL, That is adorable...Isnt it so weird how they can be so afraid of one thing, and then be so bold and brave with something else 3 times the size! Crazy Fids!
-
"And 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, And 1 and 2 and 3 and 4" LOL Wonder if that is what is going through his head as he is "working out" haha
-

Actually, If it is NOT a yawn, My book says that they will do this if the have a feather like stuck in thier little hole of an ear, Kinda like a displaced ear feather. It says it can be ethier that or just a plain old Yawn

Any news on your baby grey???
-
OH my goodness, That really is a great idea! I dont know why I didnt think of that! Because I too got an infant toy for calypso at one time, It was even smaller than yours...It was an Elmo phone that you could push the buttons and it would make noises...Well she was soooooooo god aweful afraid of it, Everytime I would come near her with it she would growl and let out a shriek that should be recorded and replayed in a horror movie. It was horrible! I tried the leaving it near her cage so she would get use to seeing it, then try to move it closer....HA, Yeah right....She NEVER forgot how horrible this toy was, and to this day she will still shriek in ultimate horror if she see's it. And that was like 6 months ago. So I think your idea will work awesomely!

Haha, And the sweet baby days fade away...And they get adventurous haha....No I am just kidding, Calypso is 14 months and still sweet as when she was 4 weeks, JUST more curious and playful...She is right next to a window with white large slatted blinds (you can see in some of her videos) And there was nothing I could do to keep her from chewing them, SO What I did was this......I gave up....And let her get it out of her system, and she has now moved on and could care less about them. I guess it wasnt fun to her anymore when it was the "forbidden fruit" I guess you could call it....They are tore up really bad, But I figured they are not THAT expensive and when she is good and VERY done with them I will get some new ones. But now if it was something I couldnt afford to replace it would be a bit differant lol In that case I am not very sure what I would do!
-
OOOHHHHHH, I see, Now thats love! Dont tell your parrot to be quite when they scream, Just work around them and wear ear muffs! Great Idea! Cuz really it isnt fair to tell them not to scream, Its just natural, So if we dont like it, Wear ear muffs! hehe Your such a great bird mom!
-
Awe I love them both, Good job Alfie and Harvey!
-
Great picture!!! You make Alfie Tea?? I have never heard of this, Is it something I should be doing too?
