Hi, welcome! My mom's grey was also born with a broken leg. She took him to the vet at a young age and they said it already healed broken so there was nothing they could do. He does walk with a limp but he gets around great and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. If your bird was born with it than he should be fine, but you should definitely take him to the vet to see if its something he wasn't born with. You said he walks on the knuckle part, so he can't walk on his foot at all? I hope he is ok and I hope to hear an update from you. That is a wonderful story Caroline! This story should inspire everyone. I am so happy for you and Charlie. You are a great parront to always be there for him through the good and the bad, he is so lucky to have you! That is a great picture of him, he does look very confident.

I think it would be fine to take Rudy out for some sunshine. I also took Ecko outside in his harness at that age. I actually took him everywhere with me in a box since 8 weeks old until he started to fly and then I started using the harness. I thought it was very important to get him use to the outside world and his harness so he can be well socialized. Ecko also fluffs up when he preens himself and then shakes himself so hard lol, I think he does that when he wants the lose feathers to get off of him. As long as he isn't fluffed up sitting in a corner and not playing or eating/drinking than he should be fine.

I don't think you need to leave work early to go put towels down, I think he should be fine until then. Just put the towels down when you get home if you don't think he is a good climber. When Ecko was a little baby I put the towels down because he was learning to climb and he would fall a couple times, but he got good at it and so I removed the towels once he mastered his climbing. He is 5 months old now and climbs pretty good. Sometimes he does fall now but he gets right back up and climbs again.
