I love Slater because he is so smart and he has a mind of his own. I love how he mimics just about everything, my favorite mimic is the whining noise my chihuahua makes when he wants to go out, he does it so good! I love how he walks on his broken foot(he was born with it), it's so funny looking. I love how he puts his head down when he wants to be petted on the neck, the only place he will let me pet him. If only he would let me hold him... I still love him so much, he is my crazy beautiful bird!

Aww, I just read through this entire thread and it's amazing! Your babies are so beautiful!! I want another baby so bad now!

My CAG Slater is 2 years old and I've lived with him for most of those 2 years. My mom got him as a little baby and hand fed him and everything so Slater LOVES my mom. But he hates everyone else. He lets my mom hold him, pet him and kiss him but he won't let anyone else do that. I'm the only other person that he likes just a little but he will not let me hold him and he won't let me pet him. He will however let me get close to him and he will let me pet his head, but not his back. If it's someone else that doesn't live with us he freaks out and screams bloody murder when they are standing next to him and attacks them when they try to pet him. I don't understand why he does this? Do your greys do this? Is it normal for him to freak out on other people. And why doesn't he like me? I feed him all the time, I talk to him all the time, and pet his head but he just does not trust me enough to go on my finger. Its funny though because when he falls off his perch or he needs help he does let me pick him up and put him back on it. Any advice on this? I really love this bird and really wish he loves me too!

Hi everyone, I just joined this site the other day so I'm still learning how to do things around here. I wanted to introduce myself and my African Grey. I'm 20 years old, and I go to college. I am majoring in animal science so I can become a veterinarian. My mom got an African Grey about 2 years ago and I fell in love with this amazing bird. He is a 2 year old Congo African Grey named Slater. He is the coolest bird I have ever had. I also have a Senegal parrot named Kiwi, an Indian Ringneck named Woodi, and two cockatiels named Seven and Felix(who just laid two eggs the other day.) Slater is such a funny bird and he loves to mimic everything. He meows like a cat, barks like a dog, and even whines like my chihuahua when he wants to go out. He likes to mimic the telephone ringing, and he likes to call people. He will dial the numbers, and say "Hello Hello, ha ha ha, ok, ok, good bye, click." I recently just taught him how to sing the cops song "Bad bird, bad bird, bad bird, what you going do, what you going to do when I come for you." He says it very good, but sometimes he gets confused and doesn't say it in the right order. I even have it on video so if someone can help me upload videos then I will post the video on here. I have a lot of videos of him, I think it's so amazing how he can talk and mimic things so well. He even mimics the noise when I drop an ice cube in his water bowl. He loves ice cubes, and he loves to eat! He eats everything I eat. Ok well let me stop talking about my bird, because I can go on and on about him. So if anyone wants to teach me a couple things about this site it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -Caitlin
