  1. Well nice well thought out post. I have two greys a TAG (9) and a CAG (7) which I have been owned by since their weaning. Both are quite tame and free flighted and have been since their wings re-feathered from their weaning. They go in and out of their cages as they please when I open their cages. They both talk although the TAG, the boss, let's the CAG do most of the talking. They have perches throughout my home and go where they want. They are not chewers and very tame. They come to me when I ask if they want to but I can step them up easily.l I have adopted an older Lilac Amazon who does not talk and prefers her cage although I open it when I let the greys out. We'll see what happens. Patience is the secret to being owned by a grey. Let a grey set the pace believe me, you will get much farther if you let your grey be "boss" or thinks it is. Enjoy.
  2. Now that Sterling has matured he at "mating season" bites at me when I ask him to step up. He gives me the evil eye with the bite. He quickly switches gears when he see and remembers my evil eye is worse than his and I control the cage door and treats. Fortunately my greys do not interact in a male/female relationship although Ana Grey is 9 and Sterling Gris 7.
  3. Welcome home. Looking forward to hearing your input into Greyt matters.
  4. Have my camera already close by.
  5. New baby robins out my front room window. I saw the nest a couple of days ago so I have been watching to see what kind of birdies are nesting there. Today I have seen robins going in and out. So I am assuming the eggs have hatched??? Saw a robin go in with food in its mouth so yes the babies are hatched!!! I am too short to see the nest's interior without a stool and I will not go near the nest now. I have hand fed baby birds before and it is not something I ever wish to do again. So I will try hard not to scare the parents away. As much as I would love to have a pet robin; I will be good.
  6. I have decals on my windows unfortunately I have had them since I got my birds about 10 years ago and do not remember where I got them but it was from a parrot website or pet store I'm sure. My parrots have never flown toward my windows.
  7. My greys both can talk. Although Sterling Gris does the most. He also sings a little of a couple of songs. He is shy and only talks when he feels safe. Ana Grey quietly talks when she wants to talk. Their vocabulary is basically the same.
  8. Hi Bob welcome to the Forum. There is oodles of information encrusted in this Forum. If you can't find what you need just ask; we are here for you and your grey. Can't wait to hear more....
  9. They are so intuitive. You were busy in the kitchen so Brutus was watching over Dave for you. Wonderful.
  10. First have you actually seen this grey? I would want to see the bird and go from there. If you like the guy then I am all for purchasing this grey. Relax and enjoy.
  11. Well, Sadie laid the one egg and only one. She sat on it and got off when she wanted food. Today when I went into feed the gang dinner the egg was cracked. Did Sadie crack it on purpose, or what??? If she is now done with it, I will remove it tomorrow when I clean cages. Here is hoping this adventure is now over....
  12. No, real and flighted greys, which I have lived with since weaned.
  13. My goodness I am blessed with good and calm parrots!!! They just love to fly from room to room and land on their perches, boings or me. No destruction here thank goodness!
  14. Well, I have three and a canary. But i will not purchase more....... unless a rescue....
  15. I nicknamed Dave007 "Dr.Flock" so,so long ago. His contributions to GreyForums will help so many for years...
  16. Thanks all. I did go back and read Dave's advice on this subject (God, I miss Dave).
  17. Well when I went to the Birdroom to close it down for the night, Sadie was sitting on her egg. I have not touched the egg or given her anything to help with nesting so hoping she will quickly give up and hopefully not add to her meager clutch.
  18. I have gone back and read information Dave700 (bless his heart) left us which advises that the egg be left alone. This is what I will do. Looked in on Sadie and she is sitting on her egg at the bottom of the cage. I wish i had more info on her. She is a quiet gentle zon so I am assuming she has never been a breeder bird. We'll see what happens.
  19. One funny thing Sterling Gris did was wolf whistle at the nice looking neighbor lady. It was cute that just after the loud whistle she straightened up and swaggered just a bit more across her yard. Very cute and I believe made her day.
  20. Well I certainly got a big surprise this morning, Sadie my new Red-Crowned 20-year-old zon laid an egg this AM. Surprise. surprise. I called the "Birdman," yes he lives around my area and I know him, anyhow, I asked him what to do and his advice was to remove the egg so,hopefully this will be the end of the eggs. Now what to do with the egg????? Perhaps a egg recipe contest???? Anyway,I was shocked and wanted to share. Will be getting the egg out of the cage once Sadie gets off of it. Wish me luck.....
