  1. I have two greys, a TAG, female (8) and a CAG, male (6). My CAG is twice as large as the TAG. They are not close. The TAG is the boss. They both talk. My CAG also sings a little. The words, phrases and sounds are ones they have heard before: from me, my family, TV and alarm system. They are mimics. All greys/parrots are mimics. My 20-year-old Lilac Amazon I have owned only for a couple of months. She does not talk. I have no information on her only that she is female and belonged to a older lady who could no longer care for her. She is a gently zon.
  2. Sterling Gris is my big talker. A few things he says are: "Feed me, feed me, I'm a starving birdie." "Open the door, i want to come out. Hello." "I'm too sexy for myself, too sexy." His favorite song phrase to sing is, "Irene good night, Irene good night." Ana Grey's favorite is "Want a nut." Although she can talk, she let's Sterling Gris do most of it. She knows she is always first. First fed, first out off cage, etc. She is the boss and Sterling Gris although twice her size knows it and follows her lead.

My greys' breeders clipped them before I purchased each of them. I let their feathers grow out and both Tag and Cag are great flyers. I believe most breeders clip their babies so that we new owners can easily manage a new bird.
  4. Good bye my friend until we meet again...

  5. Thank you Dave FOREVER........
  6. I am broken hearted. God Bless you my friend. Until we meet again.....
  7. My greys are both flighted and have been since I got them as clipped youngsters. Ana Grey (8) and Sterling Gris (6). I have screen doors at my doors and screens on my windows. Although they are flighted they only fly from their room to the kitchen or living room. They enjoy sitting on me and eating pistachios or walnuts or on the rope boings I have in rooms in my home. They never fly toward the ceiling where I assume your fan would be, but then they are my greys and I do not have a ceiling fan.
  8. Mine love the best, raw and unsalted pecans and pistachios. Frankly they eat better than me. No salt for mine unless it is naturally in their food.
  9. Welcome Kasperhm and Jason. Great pictures.
  10. I burn unscented candles in my home. I do not place them in my parrots' faces. I have not had a problem. I use them at the dinner table and have on occasion used unscented candles to light my home during a power outage.
  11. Have a wonderful Christmas Dave. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. You're simply the best.
  12. I have two greys. Ana Grey, Tag, since 2008, she was 4 months old when I purchased her from a breeder. She will shake claw to hand when asked and given cheek kisses. My Cag, Sterling Gris, I have owed since he was 4 months old, I acquired him in 2010. I have always just stepped them up onto my arm. Both have always been flighted after their feathers grew back after breeders' clipped them. Ana Grey has no fear of me, my family or my neighbors who have cared for my greys when needed. My Cag, Sterling Gris, is unafraid of me but is not as fearless as my Tag around others. I scoop my greys up as I choose. I give them head and feather scratches and total spray bottle bathes all the time. I am retired so I have oodles of time for my greys.
  13. I am sorry to have to say that I have returned CC, the Blue-Front Amazon, to the bird rescue. I forgive her biting me and scratching my arm but I could not forgive her targeting me and landing on my head, digging in her claws and trying to bodily harm me as she screeched like a banshee. The only thing I can think of is that CC was jealous of my giving my greys attention just before going to her cage. When Chris from the bird rescue came over to get CC, he told me that CC had bitten his wife when she was walking by CC's cage after caring for the cockatiels they have so I am probably right about the jealousy. Long story short I can not take the chance that CC would not harm my greys if given the chance. My greys are docile loving companions and could not hold their own around such a vicious parrot. Frankly I am broken-hearted by this.
  14. This is CC she is 15/16 years old Blue Front Amazon rescued from an unsafe atmosphere. This is Sadie a 16-year-old Lilac headed Amazon. She was relinquished by an older lady who could no longer care for her. I have been told NW Bird Rescue that I would be willing to let her former owner come see her if she wants. Will get some pictures of these new companions out of their cages when I know my greys and they get along. All 4 parrots are flighted so this could be quite interesting........
  15. In a day or two SterlingSL. Remember patience is a virtue.
  16. Yes it was very quick, Judy. I looked on Facebook and N.W. Bird Rescue popped up and Chris, the boss man, had a couple of amazons and everything went zap! Guess Chris liked my smile..... But most likely my credentials and application form (guess it pays to be a retired paralegal) as well as a mature lady with two greys, moderator of a great forum, experienced with an amazon and the space and means to provide for two zons. I also got a manzanita stand and other bird stand with feeder that N.W. Bird Rescue tossed in. I am on cloud 9. There is also a very large amount of birds being up for adoption around Washington/Oregon so Chris says. He has 31 other parrots, cockatoos, etc. at the rescue I was told. Both zons are quiet and relaxed ladies..... a win/win all around.
  17. Well, I have gone and done it. I saw a Facebook post from NW Bird Rescue and they had a 16 year old Blue Front Amazon and a 8-15 year old Lilac Crown Amazon that needed homes... and the rest is now history. "CC" the blue front zon, is a great talker but she mumbles her words so is hard to understand but she is very friendly. She apparently lived in a meth, drug environment before being rescued. Sadie, the lilac front zon, lived with an older lady who had to relinquish Sadie because she could no longer care for her. We are just getting to know each other now so wish me luck..... Pictures forthcoming when I feel my new friends are ready.
  18. I have been unsuccessful in locating a Blue Front Amazon on any form in Washington State and around from breeders or recycled (rescued/adoption). Help!!!
  19. Love it!!!! One of these days I'll get Sterling Gris singing.
  20. Need a little help everyone. I am looking for an Blue Front Amazon parrot. There seems to be a lack of these creatures in my area; Washington State. Your help will be much appreciated. I would like to have the parrot shipped to me. Any ideas/help would be appreciated. Janet
  21. You know Greys are very adaptable. Keep a grey fed, comfortable and interact with a grey and all should be fine. Greys are watchers, if you are anxious so might your grey be. If you are relaxed and happy so will your grey be. When I leave my home I tell my greys I'm going out, I'll be back. When I come home at whatever time I tell them I'm back. Talk to a grey so that he/she knows what going on and all should be fine.
  22. Happy Hatch Day Dorian!! Let's see all the birdie goods!!
  23. Hey Ollie, when you get up there, just look for the old guy with a pipe, he'll look after you. God Bless.
