  1. Now I have to remember who you now are. Jeez, you are asking a lot!
  2. My 20-year-old zon laid some eggs last year and I did as Dave007 recommended and didn't do anything with them. She ended up breaking them and I took them out.
  3. My son and daughter-in-law built my birdies' aviary off their birdroom window. I can leave the window open and they can go in and out on nice days. So I'm all for your aviary. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
  4. Congrats on your new companion. Would love to see some pictures of your baby. My greys are flighted and I have perches throughout my home for them as they do love to be with the flock/family. In the beginning I would step them up and put them on a perch/boing in the room I'm in. Now they just fly there on their own. Them follow me around like a puppy/dog. They will come to me if I call them, if they are in the mood that is. Ana Grey, TAG, is 10; Sterling Gris, CAG, is 8. Enjoy!
  5. Basically my parrots eat the same as yours, I cook up the ingredients and bag it and freeze. Fresh veggies and fruits as I have in the house. I am a big veggie eater so they get oodles of veggies. Chicken bones/ribs when I have them. I keep pellets in their cages just in case I am unable to feed them as I live alone. They have seeds and such in their cages always. Sterling Gris is my big talker so he reminds me when to feed them with a "Feed me feed me, I'm a starving birdie." as he is loud enough for my neighbors to hear; I comply.
  6. Can't see it and I am logged in.
  7. Now I can't get on my laptop but can on my big computer. Not having funnnnnn........
  8. I also use Chrome, it is annoying, but ignore it and hope it will GO AWAY.
  9. I got Sadie from a rescue. She belonged to a "lil' old lady" who could no longer care for her. I was told she is 20 years old. She does not talk but we are working on it. She is a little wary but we are working on that too. Sadie has corn-colored beak, red coloring over her beak, is green and has red on her wings. When I first got her I posted a picture so it's here somewhere. She is a Lilac-headed Amazon. .
  10. My rescued Sadie is a 20-year old lilac-headed zon. She does not talk is a sweet zon.
  11. Ouch! Each parrot is different, with my fids if they do something I do not like, I tell them no and tell them why. I'm sure it is the tone of voice and look on my face and body that lets them know what is okay and what is not. They understand my mood as I do theirs. I do not punishment them. after "the look," they don't do what I don't like at least for awhile. We have been together for about 10 years so know each other pretty well.

    Old age...

Thanks for the chuckle. I'm sure you could find a grey/parrot at a bird rescue. I got my Sadie (20)(lilac-headed zon) from the NW Bird Rescue. She does not talk but that's all right, I will keep talking to her and maybe.....
  13. Spock. Such a wonderful memory.
  14. The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong. Better yet: To err is human to forgive divine. My goodness think of it this way, if our fids never forgave us everytime we pissed them off, we'd all be in a world of pain. Move on. Let's all enjoy sharing our fids because this is what Greyforums is really all about.
  15. I am a farmer's daughter so I think I'm in charge. The only one who tries to tells me what to do is Ana Grey. When she sees me in the birdroom she asks for nuts. I just tell her wait. Which she does for about 5 minutes and asks again so you know who finally wins in the end.
  16. You all remember my big guy, Sterling Gris: size of a fryer with a big heart. Ha!! He bite me last night with a big bite.... I was shocked and let out a huge and bad reply!! The look on his face was not a nice one and neither was my return look. The bite wasn't hard but the look was mean and sincere. I had to towel him to get him back in his cage. I hope this was a guy just wanting to show who is BOSS..... Well Dude, I AM! Wish me luck and no more bites....PLEASE..
  17. Hey, hey Jayd and Maggie nice to hear from you. Looking forward to you sharing your knowledge and fids with us. Ana Grey and Sterling Gris are as ornery as ever. Looking forward to some pictures of your flock. Welcome home.
  18. Welcome to the Grey Family Linda. Looking forward to learning more about the two of you.
  19. My greys are unclipped and are great flyers. I have screens on all doors and windows and my family know to knock and quickly enter. The greys are use to being "stepped up" by me when it is time to return to their cages. They normally do some flying around before complying. I assume they want to get some energy out before being "locked up".
  20. Be careful what they hear. My Sterling Gris says."Feed me, feed me , I'm a starving birdy". Believe me, he is not starving, he eats like a horse.
  21. So glad your friend is now home and safe. Old debate: clipped or unclipped. My guys are unclipped I believe they are born to fly and they are safer if they can escape predators. Hurrah Olive, you are home.
  22. Well there might be medications you can take or if necessary a mask like surgeons wear.
  23. Have you tried Red Palm oil (https://store.Nutiva.com/red-palm-oil/). I remember Dave007 recommending it for grey health. I hope you are able to help your friend.
  24. Great Title to your thread. I am looking forward to following Gracie and Kya's journey.
