  1. My greys enjoy a good soaking and so does my zon. I just spray them with a fine spray from a sprayer. My greys love it and open their feathers for a good bath and full soaking.
  2. I just have to have my sunny-side up eggs so I am a great Orgreenic and ceramic pan user. On a another note: Glad to see you popping in Julie.
  3. I had to ban the parrots from my office/keyboard. Push the keyboard in, HA, Ana Grey would just sit on the chair arm and reach in. She is very resourceful.
  4. Thanks for sharing Dave. It's always joyful to see happiness.
  5. It is great that you and your wife gave Cricket a chance to find herself. I can't believe that anyone would treat a zon badly. They are such loving and comical characters and so very curious.
  6. Ray, I am always astonished with the difference between your BF zon and my BF zon. Perhaps it is because Cricket is a female and Louie a guy that their personalities are so very different. True Louie is 5 and Cricket is what 12-15 (sorry I don't remember). Louie has never been clipped and flies all the time. He is a busy busy bee. Ringing bells and destroying toys. So very different and so active. Is it age, sex or personality. I will always wonder I guess. Or, I could get a female zon also???????
  7. Welcome Thane. My but you are quite handsome. Great pictures!
  8. My mother was from Oklahoma and I have had the opportunity to visit there long ago. I hope you and yours remain safe Jeff and that all is well. Prayers coming your way. Stay safe.
  9. I do feed my birds raw fresh veggies at least twice a week. I have tried cooked meat and my birdies are just not interested so I stick with nuts, grains, pastas and beans as well as veggies.
  10. Great pictures. Enjoyed the update!
  11. That and the fact that your grey (you are talking about your grey right) really wants a scratch.
  12. Oh yes, I have seen this one before. Thanks for the reminder! It is quite cute, for sure!
  13. Welcome Robin, Chris and CJ. My three parrots are flighted and I do have one little stinker who does not like to go into his cage at night. When he is being ornery I just note where he is and turn off the lights and pick him up. In his cage he goes and we are both happy. Welcome to the Grey family!
  14. Love the last picture. Too cute! Looking forward to hearing more about Nikki!
  15. I believe I have said many times how Louie, the zon's eyes are laughing. He has the most communicative eyes I have every seem. He tries with all his heart and soul to do as I ask and understand what this crazy old lady "really" wants. Big warm dark brown eyes, so beautiful and so telling. Spending time with a zon is quite interesting for sure.
  16. Hi Mema, welcome to the Grey family. I so remember your excitement before my first grey came home. The waiting is such a killer. I found this forum about 3 months before my Ana Grey came home and learned oodles so enjoy and ask all the questions you want.
  17. The following quote should be addressed to each of us: It is certainly a shame that Earthchild was unable to get the help needed with making a big decision for a newly acquired older grey. I hope this foolish bicker is now really over. Please try to remember why we are all here. For the love of our greys.
  18. My vets both avian and four-legged kind check for micro-chips. It is a very simple and easy process. When I first took each of my parrots to the vet, I was asked about their origin. My parrots are micro-chipped and also registered with HomeAgain and if one is lost, there is a network to help get my pet back. HomeAgain also e-mails me about any lost pet registered with them that is lost in my area. I also watch the Lost and Found section in my daily newspaper to check for lost pets. This is my fear that one of my parrots will go on an adventure without me but in my heart I now know that I have done everything I can to get a companion back.
  19. I think everyone knows how I feel about micro-chipping. All of my pets are chipped but my canary, for obvious reasons, he is just too small and is not tame like my parrots. Besides Cappy, the canary would survive outside no problem. I know, that if I lost one of my parrots and someone found him/her that I can easily identify my companions. As for pain or discomfort, I also had all my children given their shots for polio and whatever, and it did hurt, but they survived the shots and were/are safe from childhood diseases as are their children. Micro-chipping is a personal choice that we must decide on ourselves.
  20. JeffNOK, hear, hear. You are so correct.
  21. This would be a fun adventure. I may want one of these little darlings is my only problem about watching them grow!
  22. Welcome to you and Harry. Looking forward to learning more about Harry!
  23. Do you have experience with a male zon as this is a mantra you have brought up more than once or twice. Well I have owned my male zon for a couple of years and he is over five-year old. He is a doll and as for being a hot 3, he is not. In fact, he is the favorite parrot with all my family and friends. So poo poo to anyone who says that male zons are not as loving as females! Spreading rumors is not a good thing, in my opinion.
