  1. Happy Hatchday Alfie! You certainly are a cutie!
  2. Hi Gemma, great advice from Dave007. Take things nice and slow and with lots of patience. Tell Scooby what you are doing and be confident. Greys pick up on body language and voice tones so relax and enjoy your new friend.
  3. Perhaps you can tie pieces of ribbon or cloth from the fan blades so that your grey knows they are in motion.
  4. Hi Moni, welcome to you and Kaylee. Looking forward to learning more about the two of you.
  5. A Zon does have a way of pulling at heart strings. Luv those zons!
  6. As long as you tell Gracie you are going somewhere but will be back. All should be fine.
  7. Hi Vicky, welcome to you and your new companion. Looking forward to getting to know the two of you.
  8. In my opinion, in your situation, I would re-home Babalu with another family. Sometimes it is best to re-home in the best interest of a parrot. Example, I brought home my Ana Grey when she was 4 months old. Then I re-homed an older male eclectus parrot. Ana Grey would dive bomb poor Sully whenever he was out of his cage and he would run and hide wherever he could. Ana Grey was relentless with her dislike for Sully. I gave Sully to the neighbor teenager next door with the good wishes of his family. Sully is very loved and very happy. Sully goes to bird fairs and shopping with the family all the time. He is a great shoulder bird for them. The last time I saw Sully was when the family with Sully came over to play cards. Ana Grey was tucked in her cage and Sully on his owner's shoulder at the card table. Sully walked down his owner's shoulder up my arm to my shoulder and gave me a kiss on the cheek then he walked back to his owner and up to his perch on Jordan's shoulder. It bought tears to my eyes as to me this was a thank you for giving him a new and loving home. Parrots have such heart and such memories they remember things and understand much more than we give them credit for. Giving Sully away was the best thing I could have done for him and for my remaining flock. Re-homing a parrot is sometimes a good thing.
  9. Hi Charlie, welcome to you, Bailey and Shiloh. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of your greys.
  10. My Louie, the zon, is Irish. Didn't you know Louie (Loo ee) in Irish means Famous Warrior. Being 1/3 Irish, I always wear green on March 17th. Stilling looking for my pot of gold.
  11. Great looking Too! Would love to hear more about your new companion. Details please!
  12. I also raised my late husband's grandson so I am due one more parrot. If one comes along and needs a home, I'm here.
  13. Hi Dan, welcome to you and your new grey. Great advice from Judy, let your new companion settle in. Would love to see some pictures.
  14. Parrots do certainly fill in for children who have outgrown the nest. I have three children, and now three parrots.
  15. Richard looks great in his new harness.
  16. Welcome to you Leanne and Rocco. Great pictures, by the way! Love those TAGs. I have a 4 1/2 year old TAG named Ana Grey, she is the boss in my little flock.
  17. Only if I can call you by the name Dayo gave you. Something like As-H-o-- wasn't it? (smile) oh let's add a (wink) too!
  18. Welcome to you and Richard, Peter. Looking forward to reading more about your new grey.
  19. All three of my parrots go to bed in different ways. Ana Grey will just step up and go in after a little cuddle time with no problem. Sterling Gris will fly around until I turn off the lights and then he will step up. Louie, the zon, waits until the other two are in their cages and go in with a little coaching. One of the joys of a flighted flock.
  20. I am not a pellet fan and my birdies eat lots of veggies, beans, rice and pasta. My parrots don't like meat at all. They do not like Harrison's but do like Zupreem Veggie Blend so that is what I keep in their cages at all times. Ana Grey grinds the pellets up to powder and Louie and Sterling Gris munch on them here and there. All three love pine nuts, almonds, pistachios and walnuts.
  21. I am curious to know what Sassy is doing to make Sabrina whine.
  22. I believe Sterling has named me. When he ways "Open the door let me out. I want out." After a few times and with more emphasis with each repetition. Finally he will say, "Open the door, Damn Bird!" And then stops asking.
  23. You are not giving your greys enough credit. Their hearing and smell are very acute. My greys can recognize the rustle of the potato chip bag or the sound of the almond jar being open always and come flying as a squadron to get their share. They also love routine. Normally, open the refrigerator and then open the microwave for a quick heat up.
  24. I have three parrots and a canary. The canary is flighted and enjoys out of cage time just like the parrots but in my office where my parrots are not allowed. I have one grey, Ana Grey, who would snack on Captain Caruso in a flash. All three parrots are flighted and out at the same time. They get along great. My greys even give beak kisses to each other. My zon just leaves the greys alone. They fly from room to room as a squadron and get along without a problem. In the beginning I watched them all very closely. They have been together as a flock for about three years. My Zon, Louie has been with me since he was 1 1/2 years old. He is now 5. My TAG, Ana Grey has been with me since she was 4 months old. She is now 4 1/2 years old. My CAG, Sterling Gris, will be 3 years old in two days. He has been with me since he was 5 months old. In the beginning I watched them very closely. Once they figured out their pecking order they were golden.
  25. Good idea. How about. Bless me Father, I'm about to sin.
