  1. I still have the big blue Jolly Ball out in the Bird Room. Louie goes over to it and picks the hanging toys off. Breaks the plastic chains and chews on the wood, but he never tries to climgbon it or in it. I have stuck my hand inside and wiggled it around and all he does in stick his beak in and give it a look but that's all!!!
  2. So Louie is FGA: Independent Mischievous Brat!!!!! >
  3. Oh what fun Ray!!!! Well, Louie is: A. Brat and F. Independent G. Mischievous
  4. If micro-chipping is painful, I didn't notice it when my pug or grey were micro-chipped. I compare it to immunizing my children, they cried for a little when they got some of their immunization shots but it was only for a moment. I knew they would be all right and would not get polio or tetanus or whatever and all was right in the world. I had a friend, Mary, whose parents didn't think a polio shot was important, she is the one who lived with her polio all her life!!!!!
  5. HA!!!! I have tossed walnuts and cashews in the fids' Jolly Ball and they still turn their nose up at it!!!!!
  6. Judy, you are just too clever!!!!
  7. Hi Clair, glad you and Oscar have found us!!!!! Pictures please!!!! Welcome to the Grey Family!!!!!
  8. Have you put and ad in the newspaper, that surely will help. I do believe David and Shanti are California somewhere.
  9. I buy freeze-dried veggies and fruit for my fids so that they always have good food in their cages to eat. They keep great without spoiling and my fids/zon,grey & ekkie all like them.
  10. Awww Judy you are just too clever!!!!!!!
  11. That's why I got one too!!!!! But Alas, my fids could care less!!! ">
  12. I have a large jolly ball for my fids and no one likes it. Ana Grey in the beginning has been in it, but not really caring about it and Louie, the zon, just ignores it and he is into everything. I believe it is probably the least favorite toy I have every purchased for my grey.
  13. Looks like a pomegranate stain to me!! Quite interesting!!!!!
  14. How very funny, perhaps he wants to hear the last half so he can learn it!!!!! It won't be long!
  15. When you finally get to interact with your new baby girl the right name will come naturally. You just wait and see! It will finally Dawn on you like a new beginning!!!
  16. We need to see this gentlemanly act of Harvey's Jill, come on, a video. And yes I did try to make the sound and can't quite figure it out, so video please!!!! ">
  17. I sent this off to my grandson who is an 10-year-old-football player. I think he will enjoy it!!! Thanks Barbara what a Hoot!!!
  18. Louie has not destroyed any of my woodwork, so far he just likes to destroy his toys and hanging perches. I have lots of wooden toys hanging around their perches for them to destroy!!!! I have had to take down the hula hoop Atom I made as it has become the one thing that both Louie and Ana Grey have claimed as "My sole property" and they are going beak to beak all the time over it. So I just took it down for awhile. Show them whose Boss!!!
  19. Pretty Bird African Special for my grey although she really doesn't eat much pellet. Lots of veggies, pasta, rice, beans, safflower seeds and other grains are most of her diet.
  20. When Ana Grey was microchipped they wanted to put her to sleep, I think it was more because they thought they might get bitten, so I refused believing that her being drugged to go to sleep might be more harmful than the microchipping. Well the assistant came out to tell me that Ana Grey was a doll and as calm and sweet as could be. They were not bitten and Ana Grey had absolutely no after effects. I watched her closely for a day or two and she never even touched the microchipping site and has never complained. I feel so much more relieved knowing that if she flies out the door my chances of being able to claim her as my own have now been increased 100 fold.
  21. Tui has you well-trained. You must be strong and stand your ground and he will have to find other things to play with. That is my advice. Make other things available to Tui and he will have to choose to interact with them instead of you. I also have the radio on sometimes in the bird room to entertain my fids. Perhaps others will have more suggestion for you.
  22. Hi Amanda. I live alone and am retired so my grey is with me 24/7 just about. She is flighted and we are very close. I have boings and ceiling perches and other hanging apparatus all over my home and Ana Grey loves to be with me but will sit on her playstands and boings. I do have lots of toys and foraging things at her perches and boings and she has always liked to play with her toys and eat!!! I guess I don't quite understand, if Tui is not flighted how can she get to your fingers unless you pick her up and put her there?? Even when Ana Grey pesters me, which is rarely, I just flick her off my shoulder or arm and send her on her way. She gets the idea and goes about her business. I do however play with her and talk to her a lot. I have a towel on the top of my computer screen and Ana Grey likes to sit there sometimes. I also have a towel on the back of my computer chair so she can sit there without chewing on my furniture. I also place towels on the back of my sofa and its arm so that Ana Grey can be close and non-destructive. Small foot toys are also a good thing to keep our greys business.
  23. http://www.thecountryroost.com/catalog/default.php?cPath=28_29&osCsid=1923ee4c22b7091bd6292842c572cfa5 I have the large one and totally love it!
  24. I have an older ekkie that is a plucker. I have had him about a year and a half. He is/was a chronic plucker. I took him to an avian vet to make sure he was healthy and learned he just had a lousy diet, so after a year or so of good food and aloe vera baths he has finally stopped plucking, well he does a little now and then but is so such better now that I have big hopes that Sully will be one day be fully feathered. Sully was plucked when they found him years ago and remained a plucker until I got him so I say, never say never. Good luck with your sweet grey.
  25. I scratch Ana Grey's pin feathers for her all the time but anytime I have tried to "help" take the covers off she has nipped me and then pulled my hand back for more scratches. I take it that she doesn't like my helping, only the scratching.
