I have been watching the live feed on this nest. One eagle (I know it has to the female) sat on the nest through a cold and stormy day and night. She had to go find the other eagle to come in and exchange places. This is twice that I know of that she has had to leave the nest to locate the truant parent. If I could I would slap that one parent upside the head!!!!!!
This was 2 years ago. Sterling was 2 and Ana Grey was 4. She did "baby" him when he was younger. She loved to watch me give him some formula (he was eating but for a few days after I got him, still liked evening formula) Ana Grey got to eat the "leftovers" so she was very cooperative. They do tolerate each over but are not bosom buddies now.
What, what's the fuss. You know our beaks are our hands. I was looking for some toast to put the peanut butter on. Sheesh, just trying to help. Jeez, a simple thank you would suffice.
Love eagles, if I could own one I would. Okay, I would be happy with just a molted flight feather. But I think that's illegal unless you are a native american. What a bummer.
My your grey is rather quiet compared to some. Wait until he settles in and the two greys get use to each other. You cannot teach a grey only what you want. They are intelligent prey animals with a mind of their own.
I have a male CAG (4) and a female TAG (6), I have had them since they were 5 months and 4 months old respectively. They do not interact or talk to each other. They just tolerate each other. I got them for me and only me. So if your second grey is not with you because you wanted a second grey for your companionship then I would rehome this sweet grey for the grey's own happiness. Pets should be for the owner's delight not another animal. Just my opinion.
I rehomed a couple of zons and an ekkie over the years because they were in terrible situations. I found the right homes for them and everyone is happy and content.
The sound that really scared me and threw me off was when in the middle of the night about 3:00 am, I sat bolt upright to the sound of my front door opening. I have alarms that made a sound when the door opens. Took me a minute to realize that it was a parrot not a door that was making all that racket and a lot longer for my heartbeat to slow down.
Love the Timneh. My first grey is a TAG and she is fearless and quite spunky. Ana Grey is a love. Looking forward to traveling your new adventure with you. Watching greys explore the world (new home) is a joy. Have fun!!!
