  1. Sunlight should be direct. Outdoors as the rays through a glass do not admit Vitamin D.
  2. Tarkus sounds like a great friend. I wish I had been able to meet him.
  3. Hi Izzy, oh thank you for giving Toby a new home and trying to give him a better life. Just relax and let Toby get use to you and his new environment for now. Talk to him and let him know what you are doing or going to do. No quick movements and relax and enjoy this great grey. Greys are very intuitive so be calm and talk to him. Greys want to belong and be a member of the flock, even if it is a human one. Just tell him what you want and show him. Greys are very smart. Enjoy. Welcome to the Grey family!!!
  4. Does this CAG look unusually dark to you? Such a simple question. But for some reason this thread has gotten off track. Frankly, I think this sweet CAG is very cute and the coloring is great. Let's move on Greyforum members.
  5. Frankly, Grey Forums is already AMAZING. It always has been. I have never had any problem posting any questions I want and getting suggestions/help. This is one of my favorite forum sites.
  6. Sterling Gris here: Oh what great goodies. Ladies, Talon, Rikki, even Nala. Let a guy show you ladies how it is done!!!!!! I would have a ball and a great mess for Bird to clean up believe me!!!!!! You are so lucky to have such a great parront!!!!
  7. Just let that old dame, Luvparrots, leave the door open just 2 seconds that's all I need and I am on my way!!!! Sterling Gris
  8. Waiting to see what goodies you got!!!!! I can fly by anytime Talon, Rikki, Nala (hint, hint)
  9. Enough said I believe.
  10. So very sorry for the loss of Daisy. A note to Daisy: Hey Daisy, look for a 13 year old pug named Fei Lian (Lily). She is a great little lady and she will show you the path.
  11. I guess I am at a loss because I do not remember anyone saying anyone was "dumb, stupid or ridiculous".
  12. Commonsense. That is what we need to use when interpreting a post/a thread. Interpreting any advice because in the end it is each of us individually who is responsible for our greys. The one who knows what is really happening in our greys' lives. I read a post/thread and filter through it for what pertains to me or my situation. It has been said many, many times that NO ONE on this board or in this membership is an avian veterinarian. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT no one is an avian veterinarian. We only try to help and relate what we would do in a situation. That is all we grey owners can do. As for the moderators, all they typically can do is help watch over the forum. Be watchdogs for our administrator. In other words, a lackey with a title. Be kind. Remember why we are here: For The Love of Our Greys
  13. Well, I know we have a breeder or two in the member list. Perhaps they will check this out for us. Can they see into the nest enough to see if an egg is round or oblong. Very interesting..... As for the old wives tale, my father came from the Philippines Islands. He was born in 1906 and came to the USA as a young soldier. He told me this "tale" when I was a child.
  14. Every situation is different. That is why a thread is started so that anyone can make suggestions or give their personal advice to a similar situation that worked or didn't work for them. It is up to each of us to decide which advice might work for their situation because the owner of the grey is the only one who truly knows what is happening with their grey. Dave007 is one of the members whose advice I personally listen to and treat with respect. Personal choices are mine to make as it is for each Grey Forum member.
  15. Has anyone every heard the one about how to tell if a hatchling is going to be male or female by examining an egg?
  16. Thank you Talon, I would love to see the goodies. Perhaps that gorgeous Rikki could show them off, she certainly is a looker. (sigh) Sterling Gris
  17. Clarence is a very nice male name.
  18. Here's wishing you good luck with Grey Bird getting adapted to your home easily. I am looking forward to watching and hearing about how he bonds with the established flock. A big welcome to the Grey family.
  19. I have had my greys since they each weaned. Ana Grey is now 6 and Sterling Gris is now 4. I only pet or scratch their heads and only after I ask them "want a tickle" and they bow their heads. When they toss their heads the tickle/scratch is over. I never kiss my greys, they kiss me and only on the cheek after I have turned my face left or right. Frankly I do not trust them to always be in a good mood. It is a hard thing to remember that they are prey animals... no matter have great their talking abilities are. They are not domesticated. I know that if I left the front door open, they would leave in a heartbeat.
  20. It is always hard to say goodbye to our companions. Our pets are a large part of our lives. They are family. Sorry for your losses Talon.
  21. Isaac is one of my favorite greys to hear about and learn what is going on in his life. I have gotten into the habit of telling my parrots what I am doing at a certain time or where I am going. It seems to calm them and let them know that I will be back come hell or high water. Our greys are so attuned to us and we have to remember that we are their flock and they expect certain things from us.
  22. Can't wait to hear about what the fids think of the new toys and SEE the goodies while the gang enjoys them!!!!
  23. Welcome to the Grey family Mafalda. Looking forward to learning more about Simon.
  24. Thank you for sharing your wonderful rescue of Rico. He is certainly a brave little guy. Big smiles all around.
