That is a different bird already. I am so proud of you and what you have accomplished in such a short period. He looks just beutiful and his body language is totally different , much more relaxed! Did you keep the cockatoo from the yard sale?? Sorry of I am confused but I thought it was you who grabbed him up? Thanks Guys I do want to learn photography and do want to look at this as a investment. Yes I am interested in quality, lighting and want manual adjustments, all the good stuff thats gonna make it fun This is somthing I have wanted for so long but it was very expensive so I have waited. ZZero inspires me and time has come and hubby said yes:) I am gonna go to the store and start playing then do some more research all tips welcome! Cindy

I get a new camera for X-Mas I am looking for a digital SLR ( I think they are called that ) I am a newbie but want to learn about taking great photos. I am in the market for something under $1000. I ma reaserching but completely lost. I want to take pics of nature birds and animals and bugs!! Nikon D80 good for this?? any other suggestion or tips for a good camera , sizes and what not pls help me:) ANY ADVICE GREATLY APPRECIATED Thank you thank you Cindy

Oh I am usually on guard the afternoon nap wasnt supposed to start yet but I guess I dosed, Hubby stayed alert for me ZZero now has been wanting to play with them so I am back on full alert so he doesnt fly in their faces. I have never let him on the floor cause I think he would try and go wrestle with them if I let him:P hes fearless wich in ways is kinda scary. I couldnt wait for you to see these Jen you were my inspiration to keep trying. Karma back at you for all your help in PMs with this situation

personally I make it every morning with pellets mixed in cause hes fighting me on eating them:P I give him scrabbled eggs once a week. These morning meals are where I get his palm oil in:) he gets so excited about his warm meals he sings the whole time he eats I love it.

So when I first considered getting a grey my dogs were the last of my worries I just knew in my heart they would be ok. Then ZZero came home and they were obsessed and I thought crap,I will never be able to have them together. Well 6 weeks later and tons of hard patience work here we are ZZero is on my knee here A evening of relaxation, heres my family And this is embaressing ( hubby took pics) this is my afternoon nap lol we are all sleeping together I am very proud of my accomplishments with my family and am so happy that we can enjoy a stress free evening together.<br><br>Post edited by: cflanny, at: 2008/11/11 18:44

I think Zons are the most beautiful birds. ZZero has been fully weaned for over a month and wont take a spoon if I tried. he still does this in the morning before breakfast or at dinner. One great free idea is a empty tissue or shoe box filled with pieces of newspaper you put treats in there and they will dig dig to find them. I place one on the bottom of ZZeros cage and he loves it.

Also I would suggest looking for things to keep his mind occupied, sounds like hes in the cage alot. These birds have the minds of a 3 -5 year old child. this little mind needs to stay active and blossom. This is very important I would look into foraging ideas there are many you can make for free and there are toys that are sold like puzzles to get treats. You can search thru the many topics here just type a word into the box above and lots of stuff will come up Also mabey the playroom is too much can he see you from there?? Greys are really not a childs bird but they do like activity but I would say if theres alot of yelling and playing mabey this is a stress factor for him. mabey a corner in the living area where he can observe the children but not be on the middle of them. just some ideas that came to my mind mabey they can help ) Please read thru as many post on this forum as possible Good luck
