My grey does not have a mirror but Cracker the cockatiel has one and adores it,or should I say himself.He sits by it for ages,just sitting looking in the mirror.

charlie is very good going b ack to his cage,I make a point of sometimes just placing him inside and not locking him in. I have also taught him to go in on command. He is very good at this but sometimes he is reluctant but a firm step up is all thats needed

Thanks everyone for the support and well wishes.It is very much apreciated.Mum is going in hospital on the ninth of March for the operation, the good news is that due to a busy nhs she is going in to a private wing of our local hospital so that has given us all a boost.They are expecting her to be in about a week and then she will need to go daily to claterbridge hospital over the water for radiotherapy for about a month.The nurse who came out to see us on Tuesday was very reasuring and helpfull in answering a lot of questions we had.My Mum is looking better than she has in months,been out shopping and I am taking her to Southport this afternoon.Once again thanks so much for the support.

I have aol internet for £15 a month. This includes all local and national phone calls 24/7. The only problem is that I still need a Bt land line.Just the land line costs £36 a quarter.

Hi all I just thought I would let you know that I may not be able to be hear as much as I usually am. My mum has been diagnosed with cancer and I will be running backwards and forwards to hospitals and such.A nurse is coming out this after noon to go over everything with us and answer any questions we have.She is having an operation on the 9 of March and then some radium treatment, The doctor is hopefull that it is very manageable and confined so that is at least some good news.I will be dropping in as much as I can as I think it will be a good distraction.

Do not have the bird in the kitchen ,it can be so dangerous.Have Ash in her cage in another room.

I was lucky and Charlie took to harrisons right away.Just keep at it. Try putting some apple juice over the pellets and see if that helps.

I have seen my grey do the same it is normal. Mischief looks like part wood pecker in that video :lol:

If you are concerned have a vet check him out.He may have done more damage to it than you thought.

Pat that is amazing,Cracker also thinks he is a grey and is just a smaller copy of Charlie,he can talk almost as well as Charlie and most of his vocab has come from Charlie. He is very loving but can be a right nasty piece of work when he does not get his own way,my fault, I have spoilt him.I would not be without a tiel,I cant fault them.

Flighted birds are not easy to manage but the benefits you will see way out do the cons.My grey is at the moment sitting on his cage top play stand chatting away to him self like butter would not melt.He is not always so good.I do not have curtains now,just blinds because he would get on the curtain pole and chew the curtains and the coving round the cealing,so I took the pole down and it solved the problem.Mind you he is now obsessed with trying to chew up the setee if I am not quick enough.Yes he also poops,but it is not too bad as he usually does it in one or two places and as I have wood floor it is easy to clean. He is a far happier more active bird than he was when clipped and I am sure healthier in mind and body.

Hi and welcome.Well done for realising that greys need a lot of thought and research before purchasing.I am sure you will find lots of information hear and ask any thing you need to know.

Hi. I am not familiar with the kitchen appliance you have but at a guess, if it is teflon I would say it is not safe Especially with the bird being in the kitchen.Can you not house him any where else,kitchens are not ideal for birds.

Hi. First, your tiel does not need his wings clipped every other week,Usually twice a year or a bit more often for light bodied birds like tiels is enough.Can he fly at all?With regard to your tiel getting on Ty,s shoulder,I see no harm if they are both enjoying the experiance,tiels are usually very friendly social birds.How old is Ty? I am assuming he is not too young to realise he needs to be gentle with the bird.My advise is to let the tiels wings grow untill he can fly and then if you need to get an avian vet to clip him properly.In the mean time read up all you can on cockatiels and their care so you can dispense of asking at the bird farm.If they are clipping your bird every other week, that is not right. Feel free to ask on hear any questions you have and I am sure you will get very good advise and help.

Hi and welcome.Boo bird will need more time to settle, especially as he has not been handled much for a while.I think he is doing really well.Dont push him but let him go at his own pace.If he is taking treats from you that is a very good start.Also he will step up,thats great.You are doing well.In a few months he will be a different bird. We all get nipped now and then and it is usually our own fault, we have not heeded the warnings greys give us before hand,or we have been playing with them and they have got over excited, ect.I am sure if you pay atention to his body language and as you get to know each other better things will improve.
