Dear Friends, Thank you all. I AM feeling better today. There was a biopsy first. The dematologist is also board certified in dermatopathology. He performed a Moh's proceedure yesterday and made sure all the edges and the base were clean before he closed. I feel very confident of the cure. Thank you again and ya'll take care of yourselves, ya' hear!:lol:

I had a basal cell carcinoma removed from my lower lip today. Even though it is usually of low malignany I did have a patient whose face was eaten away by it. I wanted to remind everyone to check regularly for new growths or changes in their skin. And slather on the sunscreen!

I did sew (mostly from necessity), knit and crochet. I enjoyed photography and drawing. Gardening has been an off and on thing. Singing, especially in small groups, was a given. A cappella was my favorite. I'm passionate over opera. Music is my constant sompanion. I read at every opportunity, but it is more difficult now. I attempt to keep up with the latest in nursing with the freebees I receive. I spend a lot of time on the computer since my grand-daughter and her husband gave me their old one and "drug me into the 21st century!":lol:

I am an RN and agree with what has been said before. I can add that when working in a hospital or nursing home there are others to help move, lift or turn a patient but in the home there is usually only the caregiver to do this. Even when the patient has assistive devices the work can be very difficult. Learn before hand what your duties will be. Many expect the care giver to give baths, assist with all the activities of daily living, shop, prepare meals, clean, do laundry and be a companion. If you are required to use your personal vehicle for transporting the patient please be sure to verify with your insurance carier you are permitted to do so. Also, do you have malpractice insurance or the equivelant? Nursing can be very rewarding but not financially. Be very aware it is demanding physically, mentally AND emotionally. Do it only if you see it as a "calling" that you must fullfill!:ohmy: :)

Gasoline prices have been going up about 2 cents every night but it is still a far cry from what you are paying in the British Isles.:ohmy:

Carol, this is really late, but it doesn't mean I don't feel with you.:ohmy: Oakland is bad news. The four cops who were killed there faily recently are an example. I know there are a lot of other places where crime is rampant, also. I believe in guardian angels, too. I hope you and yours are safe now.

I've heard from others at WalMart that stocking can be really hard, but if you can stick it out you just might move up to a position that you enjoy a lot more. I know of some who have.:ohmy:
