1. Poor Joe - I hope he gets over it sooner rather than later. Interesting note about birds flying during a quake Stephen - makes perfect sense. Hope both birds (and anyone else who felt it) are ok.
2. What smashing pictures Jen - Lyric is very handsome, and Sadie is so pretty! Thanks for sharing these with us!
3. Haven't you seen Kung Fu Panda Stephen? There are no coincidences! Nice one!

Post edited by: pearllyn, at: 2010/04/05 22:33
4. Hope you enjoy your second day out, but that it's not quite as hairy!! I would love to take Alfie to such a meet, and have looked for them over here but never come across any - my vet couldn't even tell me if they existed in this country or not. Could you tell me what the requirements are to a)hold a meet and b)attend one with your bird!! I'd love to see how Alfie reacts! Have fun!

6. {Feel-good-0002006E}{Feel-good-0002006E} That is sooooo funny Dan (sorry Kim!) How smart for him to figure that out!! Thanks for the giggle!
7. Lol Dan - at least he's not ignoring you! But these quiet little moments are so precious, whenever they come.
8. Not plain but beautiful for sure. And so is that little Pionus - stunning!
9. I did Julie - no doubt! judygram wrote: Lol Judy - near as damn it! Janfromboone wrote: That's what I think Jan - she must have felt the love.

Post edited by: pearllyn, at: 2010/04/04 22:29
10. This is a fab video Jan I just love Tobie to bits!! Karma for you and he!
11. Bless the poor little critter that ends up in that. It's an ornament!!!!
12. Goodness of course it's a personal choice - I haven't eaten baby sheep since we started breeding suffolks in the early 90s, but I agree in sorts with you all - I don't particularly think it's wrong to eat meat, but I am vehemently against any animal suffering emotionally or physically at the hands of us humans for any reason - including eating them! And yes - I do get upset when I'm pulling a chicken to bits!! Thanks for karma though!!
13. The little soul looked up, and saw That all was shiny bright, With interlacing rainbows Reflecting glorious light. "Oh No!" it cried, "I've let you down By coming back too soon, I only went away in March And now, it's barely June. I tried to stay, I really did" A tear fell from it's eye "I only just got used to life, I didn't want to die. I'll go right back and start again, And see what I can do", But Love said "No, my little one, That path is not for you. Three time you crossed the threshold, And each time you have lain, In fear and pain and dark despair, And three times coldly slain". The little soul was lifted up In Love's sublime embrace, And all its grievous wounds were healed, With tendernous and grace. It breathed a sigh and snuggled down, As happy as could be, Then, had a little look around, And looking, it could see... That by a door below, stood souls In long and winding Queue. "Oh, pity them, they look so sad. Please let them stay here too". "Alas" said Love, "it breaks my heart But each one must return. They all have many paths to tread, And many things to learn. For they are Humankind, and all Possess, for good or ill, Intellect and concience And, best of all, free will. Yet in their arrogance they spurn Pure truth for shoddy sham. And many lifetimes may elapse, Before they're born a lamb.

Post edited by: pearllyn, at: 2010/04/04 13:44
14. It was just the sweetest little thing. I woke up witih a smile on my face!! Jill, I wouldn't say steal, (maybe I would, but I wouldn't admit it! ) but she is def more relaxed with me now - she just seems to have accepted I'm part of the flock. Having said that, she's not all angel - she's sitting on top of her UV lamp at the minute giving it "uh-oh!"
15. This is a lovely picture! Thanks for digging it up again Kathryn!
16. Mmmm looks tasty and juicey!
17. This is a helpful post Dan - good job!! I feel Alfie is only just at the stage where I can start to really teach her things, rather than her just pick them up by accident - her attention span has been non-existant until lately. RObin if you use that word to her in these two situations I think it's likely she will have picked up both of their meanings. Alfie uses "step up" in two seperate tones - one when she's on her perch and is about to fly to me, and another far more impatient tone, when she's on top of the curtain rail and has no intention of flying to me!! i know it's not the same situation as you describe but shows again the same words can be used in different circumstances!
18. That is brilliant Robin. I think I could make one of those - it looks like a similar pattern to making haynets! Of course, Alfie would be dead scared of it for a month or two but it might be worth a try! How long did Beau and Dixie take to investigate? And how much rope did you need for it? Well done for your awesome creativity!
19. I've just had a really special little moment with Alfie and wanted to share. Her and I were just sitting on our own, she was on my hand, I was holding her close because we were having quite a meaningful little chat, I was telling her how much I love her and how beautiful she is etc. She was listening to every word I was saying when she leaned in and gave me a kiss right on the lips and made her little kissy noise. I just melted. She will often humour me if I ask her for a kiss, but this is the first time she initiated it. Amazing!
20. Thank you Judy. Happy Easter to you too and everyone else.
21. It's great to see Tobie becoming more confident Jan. Thanks for posting this vid - I just love him to bits.
22. That is soooo sweet! He does sound like a real honey Dee. It'll be lovely when he's comfortable enough to come and give you cuddles (says me - as I'm sitting here on the couch my little cherub is trying to remove the back pocket of my jeans!) Your abundance of patience will pay dividends!
23. Monday!!!!! How exciting!!! I'll bet you can't wait! I only waited a week from finding Alfie to bringing her home - longest week of my life!! The pictures are great - he sure is a beautiful baby!! Can't wait to hear how he settles in!
24. Well I haven't F.A.R.T.ed for a while due to the weightloss and lifestyle modification programme I've been on, but darn it - I'm F.A.R.T.ing tonight!! Cheers!
25. Alfie does the same sort of thing too - like saying hello when the phone rings, but learning our routine backwards can't explain the cup of coffee thing. She will also start to ring just before the phone does!
