  1. So, after an enjoyable trip to the beach yesterday, we all took off with out picnic again today and spent sometime atthe horse field! It's been a gorgeous day and Alfie was quite happy to sit and listen to the birds while we groomed the horses! [/img] [/img]
  2. Lol - not for coffee I hope Nilah! We can't get the Alex toy over here - it looks awesome! Happy belated hatchday Nilah. x
  3. Lambert, this is the mistake I made with Alfie - I didn't start bathing her quick enough. I thought I'd give her a chance to settle in first. I should have just started the showering straight off.
  4. How sad. I hope he finds a loving forever home.
  5. Haha - good pics - that's a grand mess he's got going on there!
  6. He sounds like he's coming on fine Stephen - he does a lot of things Alfie did at that age - she always went through her repertoire in the shower! Don't stress about the aviator, it'll either work or it wont. As you said, a travel cage is an alternative. It's nice to go out for a walk with them on your shoulder though! Thanks for the update.
  7. Good on you Spock - you can't let Joey have all the limelight!! So he can fly! It's what birds do isn't it? Geez - it's not like he's doing loop the loops or anything! (is he!!!!?) Anyway - keep up the good work - loved your little joke, it's given me an idea............ I stand on top of the doors to go through my repertoire too, great minds think alike!! Bye for now. Alfie xx
  8. I swear, when I'm I'm not looking, sometimes she sounds so like David I don't know it's not him. I think she sounds more like David than me. She has her own little voice too and uses that sometimes, and I've heard her do Davids mother once! Thanks for looking ladies!
  9. That's smashing!! I haven't figured out how to do a sig yet!!
  10. Dee I don't know how I missed this first time around - that is sooooo funny - it conjurs up quite an image!!! Thanks for sharing.
  11. Janet I think it's amazing when our dogs take on the role of protector to us. Even my little chihuahua get's protective of me if someone who is "unapproved" comes too close! What a precious memory to have of Muffin after all these years! Thanks for sharing
  12. Lol - O is for Violin - good job! Love it - she's obviously just doing it to entertain us, because we all know how smart she really is! Thanks for sharing.
  13. We packed up a picnic and set off for the beach this afternoon, with a canoe two dogs and a parrot. Alfie is resisting her harness again (because she's moulting I think) so we took her in her travel cage and I think she got along just fine. It was her first trip to the beach, so she didn't say much, except Hello to David when he got back from canoeing! She did play with her toy a bit too. One surprising thing, Megan must be more fond of Alfie than she lets on - she became very protective of her today, shooing off any dogs who got close to her! Hope you and yours are all well. Lyn & Alfie xx
  14. Congratulations Dan! A sure source of reliable advice for us all. Thanks for your many words of wisdom.
  15. That's going to be just stunning. And what a fitting name too. The rainbow colours will just finish it off beautifully.
  16. Hi Chezron, Sorry to hear you're having trouble with Brutus. I had the same problem with Alfie and I ended up doing what you are thinking of. Here's a short Youtube vid of her showertime. Basically, this is how she showers now, and while I don't know if she will ever enjoy it, it doesn't freak her. I posted a thread here about how we got to that stage if you're interested. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-grey-lounge/158638-bathtime-breakthrough.html#180918 Good luck with him - Alfie's proof that compromise can be found!
  17. After not saying anything new for a wee while, Alfie has started coming out with one or two new words. Here is a short clip of her favourite (and mine!) at the moment! Hope you and yours are all well. Lyn & Alfie xx
  18. Sorry to hear about your thumb Jill. My feeling would be to forget about the harness when his is going through this streak - trying it when he's feeling like that won't lead to anything good. Alfie is resisting hers again, but then she's moulting at the minute and I think it could be hurting her lying against her little pin feathers - she came to the beach with us today in her carrier. I'll try her again in a month or so. Hope your thumb is better soon - that sounds like a sore one.
  19. #Happy hatchday to you, happy hatchday to you happy hatchday dear Yoshiiiiii......happy hatchday to you!! Alfie blows a kiss!! x
  20. Hi Malikah and Kito. Welcome to the forum. What a beautiful baby Kito is - you sound like you are having a wonderful time with her. Looking forward to hearing more about her and the rest of your family.
  21. Thank you Jayd - I shall check it out. I'm aware that the bear is the sort of symbol i'm after, but finding one that would make a nice tat is difficult - this link is one I haven't seen yet so may just lead me somewhere.... Thanks very much!
  22. Lol Jill - that sounds funny - your Mam must be some sort of uk version of Crocodile Dundee!!

  25. Hi Bonnie. The best thing you can do is relax, as Stephen says, only worry once there is something to worrry about! Chances are, the second you get him home, awe and wonder will take over and you will forget to be worried anyway!! Some storie I've read lately of older birds being rehomed may suggest they settle in better than you might think anyway. Good luck with him. x
