  1. Hi Heather, I am a proud Mom to a 7 month old CAG. This is the first bird I have every had, with reading, contacting breeders, going out to make visits we decided to that the plunge. I have never been happier with our decision to go ahead and make Mika a part of our little family (now looking back don't no why I waited so long) Mika has 2 fur brothers,:woohoo: a 110 Doberman named Simon and a very large fat cat named Charlie and a Mom who spoils him rotten and a Dad that just wonders what else can a bird possibly have. This forum has been a godsend to me from the day I joined, great information and great friends. Where else can you sit and discuss bird poop  and have people out there really understand where you are coming from lol. It is a big commitment, but one you will enjoy. And will always have help, with questions and concerns. Carolyn & Mika
  2. That is so sad, Please ask them to contact 911ParrotAlert.com and get it posted ASAP. I do hope al works out for them, please keep us posted on any information that comes available, thanks again Carolyn & Mika

  6. I found this and thought I would share it with everyone, as it was not long ago we were evacuated from our home during the night due to a fire a couple of houses away. EVACUATE YOUR BIRD IN A FIRE Keep your bird's health in mind in the chance you have to evecuate your home due to a fire within your home or close by- Fires can quickly change course and head toward your home, and in order to save your flock you must evecuate. Be prepared and ready for an evacuation from your home. Fires can be especially harmful for your bird and it's delicate respiratory system because of the heavy smoke and ash in the air. MAKE A BIRD DISASTER KIT Have a bird disaster kit ready to go next to your bird's carrier. A disaster kit will have supplies you'll need if you have to leave your home in quickley. It should contain bottled water, food and treats and any other supplies to help your bird get through the night. However, if you have more time to prepare for an evacuation, make sure you take into consideration the amount of time you might have to be gone from your home. Pack a box with enough food and bottled water for your birds to last more than one night away. Have extra toys, food and water dises, newspapers (for carrier or cage clean up), paper towels and any medications that your bird is taking. "Anticipate that even if you are not in an area being evacuated (yet) YOU NEED TO PREPARE FOR IT NONE THE LESS." PREPARE YOUR BIRD Practice putting your bird in its carrier, and use the same carrier for the vet visits or other travel trips. This helps prepare your bird to being put into a carrier and for a possible overnight stay in a carrier. On the bottom or side of the carrier, write your bird's name, your name and contact information. Another option is to tape a clear document holder to the bottom of your carrier and inside include more detailed information about your bird and a list of emergency contacts in the chance you are separated from your bird. Have your carrier ready to go at all times, with clean lining and set up near your cage or a front closet. Make sure that you have enough bird carriers for each bird in your home.. Once you have left your home and in the car, keep all windows closed and turn on your air conditioner so it recycles the air in the cab. If you are worried about your bird having trouble breathing, drape a damp sheet over the carrier and it will capture some of the dust and soot. If you think that your bird may be suffering from one of them, bring it to a vet for fluids and oxygen. Remember to always keep all your information updated. Carolyn & Mika
  7. I am so sorry to hear this, not noing to much about this I went and read up on the internet. What has your Vet said and what does he think in regards to the future? Carolyn & Mika

  20. I use just white vinegar and water, which is great for windows. I use this for everything including the deep cleaning of Mika's cage. Carolyn & Mika
  21. Each night before Mika goes to bed we read a story, he is already in his cage and ready for bedtime, climbs up on his perch and waits till I get his books right now his favorites are "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom", or "Oh the Places You'll Go" he loves his story time and when the book closes he climbs down on his sleeping perch and its goodnite for him. I love this time together every night. Carolyn & Mika
  22. What about gas fireplaces Dave, we have 2. One is the normal behind glass and regulated by a thermostat on the wall. the other is called a camp fire is is logs in a fire place but is an open fire, that has glass doors you can close if you want to or left open.. Carolyn & Mika

    Making Toys

Mika loves his strings, I take string and wrap a almond in cupcake papers and then tie it on the string, the next one is a raisen wraped, the next one a piece of walnut. He never no's what is in it till he rips of the paper and that is half the fun and keeps him amused for hours. I space then about 7-8 inches down the string and tie it on the side of his cage. Carolyn & Mika
  24. Your Pics are amazing, welcome to the grey family Carolyn & Mica
  25. Very Very well put Dave, Karma to you{Love-000200BF} Carolyn & Mika
