I have a seed tray but dont use it, the cage will not fit where I want it with it on. But on taking Dave's advise we only had 3 incidents yesterday. The first 2 I rushed in told him to step up in a stern voice and said "NO NO bad bird" and placed him on top, the third I rushed in and as soon as he saw me he rushed to the top with what sounded like na na, and hasen't tried again. Hmmmm 1 day and counting hope it works, Carolyn & Mika

Thanks Dave, I will start that right away. This only started on early Friday morning so it is a new thing and he won't do it when we are in sight so I am guessing that the intention is to find us. But I don't want this to become a habit and will start to nip it right away. Carolyn & Mika

Mika is now 6 months old and has decided over the last few days that he can climb down to the bottom of his cage on the outside, which is about 16 - 18 in from the floor. When I come home or in the mornings, I open the door and he waits like the perfect little gentleman to see if I am going to either take him out or let him climb out and up to his playgym on top but does always wait for my que. Now he has decided that when on top of the playgym he can travel down to the bottom on any of the 4 sides and call out (in his jibberish, he doesn't talk yet) to either the Doberman or the cat to come over for a visit. When he see's me he climb's as fast as he can back to the top. He had not attempted to shimmy down the legs of the cage YET but I am sure that could come. Is there any way to discourage this, or do I just have to be on guard and put him back up when he does this. Simon (the Doberman) goes over and they exchange nose to beak butting, and the cat just ignores Mika's attention seeking climbing, as Charlie (the cat) is above this behavior, and just leaves the room. I have the heart attack ever time he pulls this. Any thoughts or advise would be appreciated. Carolyn & Mika

A few of the member were just chatting this evening on messenger, and a few questions came up that no body could answer.:blink: What is the history of this forum, who started it? when? and where? I think it would be of interest to all. Carolyn & Mika

Vet wrap works really well for footing, I use it on all of the PVC playstands I make for Mika. I purchase mine in all colous from a horse supply store and not from a bird supply store or site. Any equestian (cant spell) store would carry it and would probably be cheaper. Carolyn & Mika

I located several breeders in my area and visited them, I asked for the Vet. they used and also 3 references of people they had previous sold to. I called each person and spoke to them and also if I was able to visit them. I checked what every information they supplied to me them made my decision. Prices varied but was not the main factor when I made my decision. The conditions and the references were. This may seem a little extream but I even called the local Animal Control in there area to see if there were any complaints filed. I purchased Mika and I am very happy,brought him home at 4 months he came DNA'ed, vet checked, and micro chiped. Carolyn & Mika

I to have taken, different posts to personally and used my fingers before useing my head and heart. I do thank you Talon for steping in and asking "to take a step back" I have. I am still very much in the learning stages and do give a LOT of credit to people that take in older Greys with baggage, I myself when deciding on a Grey and weighing all considerations and my lifestyle decided it was not right for me, maybe later but not right now It was a very personal and hard decision but it was right for me. So I decided on a baby (so I can load him up with baggage lol) we will grow old together. Will I make mistakes, of course I am human, will I be corrected off course by either asking questions here or by Mika himself. But we will grow together, and maybe down the line and older parrot will be possible. Thanks for everything Carolyn & Mika

I am using sunflower seeds, but just for training they are small and easy to use. Just one at a time when he does what I expect, Mika is learning to dance on his perch, when he follows my lead (and that quite the sight) he gets rewarded if not I crack 1 and eat it, he gets nothing and we start again.It will not happen over night but it will happen, also remember I am starting out with a baby, so I can not offer any advise to training an older bird. Mika is quite the little reto man loves the sound track of the Big Chill. Carolyn & Mika

I guess I plan ahead, and just want to be ready for baby's first Christmas;) I guess when the tim comes I just will go slow like you said. We dont really decorate for Thanksgiving and Halloween maybe just turn off the light and go to the family room:evil: we'll see about that if the night is warm maybe just sit on deck and hand out but NO candles this year lol Thanks for all the advise Carolyn & Mika

As Mika is only 6 months old now he has never seen a Christmas season, I was hoping that people with older Greys that have gone through the Christmas thing could offer some advice. The new addition of a tree with lights in his living room suddenly appearing? The scents from the candles even if they are not burning? Decorating suddenly appearing through out the house? These are just somethings I have been wondering about and would like to get some ideas on how or how not to handle it. Thanks Carolyn & Mika{Holidays-000200B2}

In Ontario you can now register your leg band number with you local Humane Society (Animal Control) and your vet, they intern register with a Canada Wide Bird Band Registry, if the bird is lost and found by someone who calls this information in they are able to reunite you back together. If for some reason your bird is stolen you alert the registry and they will send a report to all vets to watch for this bird. The person or persons that stole this bird may have sold it to an unsuspecting person just for the money. They are working very hard here to be able to install a small GPS in a leg band - right now they are using doves for the trial, they are also working on keeping the price of this band affordable to the general public.
