  2. Congratulations that is great news. You must be really pleased. Make sure you continue everyday it will make life so much easier for you.
  3. Hiya Skuffy, I get mine from Holland and barrat, most health food stores sell this. Make sure you get the juice as they also do a gel. There are threads about spraying with aloe. Have a good read through them and you will find out the benefits of using. Caroline
  4. This is a great idea! Will try this one out and see what Charlie thinks. If we all get together on this one we could have some interesting and healthy meals for our greys. Thanks Tracy will get my thinking head on for this one. Or should I call you Gordon?
  5. This is a great idea. Dont own a blender at the moment so will pop out and get one this weekend. I have just bought Charlie Healthy toppings sauces by Kaytee. Thought I would try these to make a change. Thanks for the recipes LMG, you should do one every week for us.
  6. Hi there and welcome. My living room joins on to the kitchen, thats where I keep charlie. Just make sure you read about hazards etc. Like Dan said not cooking with anything Teflon coated that is a real danger. Get rid of everything now. Do you already have a grey? Or are you preparing for a new arrival? Caroline
  7. Another happy ending. I am so pleased for you.
  8. Falconeer that is a great link. Probably something people dont talk about much but it is something that bird owners should be aware of and check everyday. I always do this on a morning and when cleaning Charlie out. Poop patrol, an important thing to do as a grey owner
  9. Great Skuffy, cant wait to see more of Max.
  10. Hello and welcome to both of you. Its always great to have new members. I look forward to hearing about your greys. April will fly by and then your baby will be home with you.
  11. That is a great pic. When I cover Charlie on a night there is a small gap at the bottom and he jumps straight down and continues to watch us until HE is ready for bed. Its so funny, its like a big came of peek a boo to him. If we ignore him you will here HELLO! They are so funny.
  12. Welcome Coopersmom, from Caroline and Charlie:)
  13. Me too. Great pics everyone, well done.
  14. Have there been any changes in the home or change of routine? How long has the plucking been an issue?
  15. They are great pics. Thanks for sharing
  16. Imme, well worth the wait. They are great pics. He is beautiful.
  17. What a lovely picture. You should be a proud of your baby.
  18. Ditto, My husband was the same. He doesnt have a lot of contact with Charlie. He will feed him on a morning and likes to sit in the chair with Charlie when he is out, but he is fascinated by him and how he has changed and developed since we bought him as a baby. Do you have any friends who have birds and maybe your wife could spend time with them and maybe change her mind a little bit? Buy some books for her to read or get her to look on the net. Maybe if she learns a bit more about greys it might just sway her a bit. Good luck. Caroline
  19. Hi Shazbaby, my Charlie does this a lot as well I think it is normal behaviour and nothing to worry about.
  20. Congratulations to everyone, I am like you Judy I dont enter but enjoy the pics and did vote last time. Will try and learn how to post pics for next one and enter myself. Would be such a shame not to do anymore.

    Help

Okay, I am not an expert with older birds I got Charlie when he was a baby. I think Dorian needs to learn to trust you and get familiar with her new family and surroundings before you start to do any training. The step up command is important not only to handle your bird safely and in emergency situations but she sounds like she has not had a lot of human contact and really needs to gain your trust. Take your time, offer treats, sit near the cage and talk and just let her get used to you being there. Are you in touch with an avian vet? Have you enquired if they could possibly do a home visit? I think it is going to be a long journey but I can tell your determination and your heart is def in the right place:)
