Don't you just love that smug look on her face as if to say haha I won this round 1 for Tyco.

Thats a good Idea Dan the problem is if she cracks them she eats them. I might get a few leftover crumbs. and Tyco would have to go on a diet as a new years resolution:laugh:

I don't know for the size of his face his beak is pretty big I think he's so cute when he get mad and puffs up all his feathers on his little head the picture of him on my shoulder he wasn't very happy about getting his picture taken. I thought it was funny. he does the same thing when I play gonna get your tail with him and I laugh every time he's such a hoot.

This morning when I got Tyco up she was in a very fiesty mood. She put her head down for a scritch and when I went to pet her she lunged at me so I turned my back and walked away. Well I guess she didn't like the fact that I was ignoring her so this is what she did to get my attention I have a bay window and her boing, rope,and swing hang from the front of it. She dicided that she was going to get my attention one way or another and look what she did to the trim on my wall. What a little brat she definatly got my attention I moved her boing. Oh well the trim is easy enough to replace so its not that big of a deal. I just can't get over what she'll do to get my attention when I'm ignoring her{Emotions-00020077}

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/09/07 21:10

Rescue birds are very rewarding I have 3 that are rescues Tyco being my newest. I don't ever want to find out what it would be like without those three birds in my life. Luna is shy and very quiet she coos like a dove when she preens every part of my face she is so sweet. When I got her she was a totaly plucked bundle of stress. that was that was 6 years ago she very different now. Fergie was alot like Tyco when I got her 7 years ago now I hold her close and cuddle her she's a snuggle bug and I couldn't do without her pets and cuddle everyday. Now I have Tyco and its been almost a year she's coming around very quickly now. she love head and neck scritches and will step up onto me when ever I ask she's very playful and just love to learn new things. Her confidence has growen so much its is unbeleivable since I got her. She isn't afraid of anything anymore as long as I tell her that its ok and its safe she goes for it. she so speical I have so much love in my heart for her it hard to imagine what life was like before I got her. She my big brave girl. Baxters mom I know just how you feel because I feel the exact same way. There is nothing more rewarding than to see a scared very sad bird turn into a confident happy well adjusted bird the way all birds should be. I take my hat off to you for finding a place in your heart and home for one of these very needy birds. you've done such a good job with Baxter in such a short time. It take allot of love and pateint todo what you have accomplished. Baxters a lucky bird

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/09/07 19:47

Of course they get Christmas gift my dogs start snopping for theirs as soon as there are gifts under the tree. They can usually smell theirs becaus it usually full of dog goodys and toys. They love Christmas as much as anybody My birds usually get toys and treats as well. This years going to be a tough one. What do you buy birds that have everything they could possibly need or want. They are so spoilt. I spend so much money on them the little brats. Gotta love em:laugh: I edited this post because their is something I would like to get them espeicaly for Tyco and that an Adventue pack travel cage. I don't know if she will ever harrness train but in the mean time I'd love to be able to take her out in somthing I can easily pack around.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/09/07 19:05

I have most of my birds toilet trained the only 2 that aren't are Tyco and Bandit. Tyco isn't because its only been this past 6 weeks that she has alowed me to touch her I rescued her almost a year ago now. I'll be starting her training soon. Bandit is my newest bird my daughter thought Spike needed a friend my birthday was Aug 10th so thats when I got him. He was parent raised and in a petfood store where they don't handle the birds since he fledged and he's 10 months old. I had to tame him first which I have now. I had to take a few good blood drawing bites without reacting but He's pretty good now.I was really quite suprised how fast he tamed I'll post some pics at the end of this so you can see.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/09/07 11:40

I was going to say that a Senegal may be a good choise also> Ive seen some very sweet Senegals. that can do some amazing tricks. I don't agree that a Grey will not except other birds All my birds get along just fine. as a matter of fact I usually have three of them on me at any given time. My Amazon and my grey play together all of the time. You just have to let them except each other at their own pace with supervision aventualy they will all become flock members. None of my birds will atack each other anymore but its taken quite awhile to get to the point where we are at now it doesn't happen over night.

I read somwhere that when a grey is scared and you scoop them up right away after they crash land that they can become phobic. The book says to wait until your bird calms down and turns to you before you pick him up. I'm so glad that your bird is coming around again. just keep doing what your doing and I'm sure he will be back to normal in no time

Is your vet really like that? Mine isn't I call her all the time and ask questions and as long as I am fairly detailed about what I'm asking she will usually give me her expert opinion on the question I'm asking about. Mind You when Sprout was hand feeding because Tyco bit his beak off she phoned me twice a week to make sure he was getting enough to eat, she's so awesome how many vets actually phone you to mane sure everything is going ok.

All my birds get along quite well so many times I have 3 at a time on me one on each shoulder and one on my left arm, I have to keep my right hand free so I can do other things while I play with my birds. I also have a very good job so I only work 3 days a week 6 hours a day and those hours are from 4 pm til 11pm tues, fri, sat. so I have tons of time to spend with them. They go to bed at 8:pm so when I work it like 3 hours that they are by themselves. The hardly notice I'm gone. I don't go out much because I live in the middle of nowhere its 20 mile to the nearest town so I only go out when I have to. I usually can get everything done while I'm working so when I'm off I can be home with them. I don't have anything else todo except play with my birds. I don't think I could handle anymore than I have now though I'm at my limit.

I always keep pellets and there seed mix available to my birds. they get breakfast in the morning and that verys day today twice a week they get some sort of egg breakfast such as omelette full of different veggies like hot peppers, broccoli,a little cheese,or french toast on multigrain, or scrambled eggs with multigrain toast with their egg breakfast the get either a couple grapes or a slice of some kind of citrus fruit,or juice. on the other days they somtimes get oatmeal, or a bowl of fresh fruit salad they get some dark leafy greens with their fesh fruit salad. During the day they get little snacks from me because if I'm haveing someting to eat they have to have a bite. then at supper the get what ever we are eating as long as its healthy for them. If it something they can't have then I will make them some sweet potatos, and turnips. I just boil it up real quick and they love it

Yes He started to wolf whitle about a month ago I almost fell over when he did that it was so cute. My breeder did an awesome job with Raja he had 5 cluch mates and she had another cluch of 6 a month later but she manage to socialize and love everyone of them. she sure dotes on them she doesn't work outside her home so she has all day to cuddle and love on her babies. she holds them close and snuggles them all the time. I paid quite a bit for Raja but he was Dna tested and so sweet so I think it was worth the extra money. He cost me $250. She had every colour Ringneck there is I prefer the Green one I just think the look so awesome they just have beautiful sleek feathers they are just a very clean looking bird I think anyway. I'm always cuddling Raja he likes it when I hold him close and pet him from the top of his head right to the end of his very long tail LOL they really do have long tails don't they I think Raja tail is about a foot long right now.

Thats the same with Irn's you can't just Ignore them for a week or two and then try todo the same things with it that you could before they need daily interaction to keep them being tame and sweet. Thats fine with me though I love spending time with Raja he's so sweet and so playful right now. He love to sit with me and preen my hair. I was wondering if anyone know how old they are when they start to talk. Raja is 5 months old and I think he's trying to talk. but hasn't quite got it yet the other day I could have sworn he said his name it wasn't clear but it did kinda sound like Raja to me.

I think she is a bit better today she has about 40 little paint brushes on her neck and head. She let me pinch about 1/2 of them today. so I think its getting a bit better anyway she still has quite a few that are just the pins still so I have to be caeful to steer clear or those ones they just plain hurt. Shes eating a bit better today also I made rhem french toast on muligrain bread for breakfast this morning and I noticed that she ate all of hers right away. she also ate a slice of apple 2 grapes and a bing cherry. I hope the worst is over. She just not been her usual loving self lately she just sits in her cage and rubbs her little head on her toys. She usualy is such a cuddle bub and comes over every morning after breakfast for a cuddle and a scritch but she hasn't for the last couple weeks. because of this molt. I want it to be over I miss her sweetness allot

Yes he will but they don't get their rings until they are 2 years old. They are very much like the Alexanderines but they don't have the red patch on their wings. their bottom mandable is black and my IRN's average weight is 120gr its almost like the difference between a Cag and a Tag they are simalar in many ways only one is smaller than the other and their are slight diffrences in colourings. Both birds have the same talking abilitys and they both are very intellegent. And only the males get those beautiful rings with the pink jewel on the back of the neck.

Post edited by: Tycos_mom, at: 2008/09/04 23:52

I have the smaller version of a Alex I have an Indiam ring neck and it sounds to me by this conversation that my Irn is very much like his larger cousins. My Irn is still a baby so he doesn't have his rings yet but he is Dna tested male heres some pics of my sweet baby he's 5months old and just the best little bird he's so sweet and is also very needy Likes to be with me all of the time.

Poor baby its definatly better that you took her with you though you would have never forgivin yourself if something bad had happened because of the exterminators. what a brave girl she is she's lucky she has you to help her through the rough times.
-
Getting another bird is fine but don't get it for your Grey because he may never except it. if you want another bird for yourself thats fine. They may become friends but also may not so if you are ready to take on a bird that is going to need a ton of extra care and attenion then fine but don't use your existing bird as a reason to adopt a needy bird.

I do feel for you and I'm so glad that you are going to a different vet Its riddicules that this poor bird has had to suffer like this for so long. I'm so glad mabie the new vet will find or know the answer right away. if the other vet was not an Avian vet then he probubly was just guessing he probubly should have sent you to a different vet a long time ago. I'm praying that the answers will come soon for you and your baby's sake. you have all my very best wishes for a possitive outcome and don't give up on her you have manage to keep her alive this long so I'm sure there is a reason for this God bless you both
