  1. Ages.... sorry to disappoint you. But Liath was saying Hello from about 6 months. And said nothing else till 13 months or so. Then there was no stopping her. Oisin has lots of little phrases, but he is learning from Liath not from us so much. I suppose it is easier to mimic a parrot than a human;)
  2. No... I didnt know that... really? I am going to try that with Oisin ! I usually stand in front of him and look in head on when I am talking to him. And it is such a long process to win him round. Thanks Laurie
  3. Aw shucks! Thank you guys!
  4. Yeah Liath thinks that the budgies are appetisers, and the caique is the main course. I dont let them out together any more. One close call too many
  5. That's incredible. Surely they could die it? Its not like the roots will grow back in is it? I never have long hair, so unless someone wants a buzz cut wig, mine wouldnt be any use
  6. Yes! I finally convinced my husband to let me get a new video camera. So of course I had to film some of my star pupil in action!
  7. Thanks Tracey, I have a fruit fly problem too. Not a bad one, but they are annoying little devils! And they scare Oisin when they buzz in his face. Karma for the great ideas!
  8. Well you will just have to give us an update in a month or 2 when you get to know your baby! I love hearing about other peoples greys. For birds that look so similar they are so very different from each other arent they? But they all have their own endearing qualities!
  9. You have a caique??? So do I. He is adorable... totally different to the greys, but brilliant fun. Mines a black headed, whats yours?
  10. She could be just experimenting too... Wonder what happens if i poke my tongue that way or open my beak this way... Oooh I like that sound.. I'll do it again... {Feel-good-000200A2}
  11. I suppose you will have to get a smaller bird to play with the toys you got for your Timneh!!!

  13. People have been keeping African Greys as pets for over 4,000 years
  14. I really feel for you both. I can't imagine having to make the decision to end an animals life. I have been lucky (or unlucky) enough to have all my pets die naturally, or with accidents. But really I would hate to see him suffer. And Judy if you hadnt decided when you did imagine how much worse it would have been for Smokey. Hugs Siobhan
  15. When I am studying I usually put the birds back in their cage because they like to either sit on my books, or chew on them, which obviously I cant have happen. But I study beside their cages and read aloud to them, ask them silly questions when I am trying to sort stuff out in my head. They dont seem to mind, and sometimes they answer me, mostly they just play away themselves in their cages. I dont see the cage as punishment, just another place to be.
  16. Well done Heather!!! I'm sorry Spooky, your picture was brilliant, but I guess you cant beat a baby with a binky! Hard luck!
  17. That is a lovely thing to do, and your hair is gorgeous now. It will be so much easier to manage. And of course you still have hair to hide your ears which is very important to stop birds nibbling on them
  18. This is a brilliant book. Thank you ! I have been reading it since I downloaded it. It has some great ideas and lots of pictures.
  19. Great idea Tari, that deserves some karma! Liath, my grey, is an inquisitive bird. She wants to be involved in everything I do, and is scared of nothing. She loves new toys, new food, new places, but hates new people. Liath talks most of the day, about nothing and everything. She talks to me when I am in the room, and shouts after me when I am not. Liath is fully flighted and flies around the house to find me. Liath loves my husbands grey Oisin, but Oisin doesnt love Liath. Until last week Liath has been very cooperative with me, going where I want to go, when I want to go there. She steps up without fuss, and always seems to be excited to see what we are doing next. Liath loves her showers, and her cuddles. Her 2 favourite phrases are Do you want to step up? and Do you want a cuddle? which pretty much sums up her personality. Liath is almost 2 and is beginning to get a bit grouchy in the evenings. I am really hoping this is only temporary Next to my husband and children, Liath is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love her dearly.
  20. Is it male or female? Its really gorgeous. What is his/her name? You lucky devil!
  21. {Feel-good-00020069} Yes it might help to look!!! I get it in the frozen foods next to the deserts and ice creams.
  22. Would you like to start again as we only voted out of the first 10? Or can we vote all over again when the next 10 entries are in?
  23. No its Jamie Oliver - The Naked Chef I'd eat that myself, it sounds yummy. I will definitely try it for them.

    Car crash

That is just not fair. This is always my biggest worry about driving. Its not what I do, its the other idiots on the road. I am really glad that you are ok. And I hope the driver of the other car has learned a valuable lesson today.
  25. I am trying.... but so is she - really trying to drive me mad :side: How long does this last? Will she be "normal" again before Oisin starts this madness. He is exactly one year younger than her. Luckily so far today she loves me! Wait till this evening when I turn the tv on!!!
