  1. Can he fly at all? Will he hurt himself if he falls?
  2. kitt79 wrote: It's great to have a new excuse to shop isnt it??? He is lovely and looks like he was well cared for. Congratulations!

  4. Well you have a 50% chance of being right Judy... dont be so hard on yourself :laugh:
  5. I will never bring my greys anywhere near a jacuzzi, but that's only because I dont have one !!! {Feel-bad-0002006A}
  6. Oh no! I thought she was on the mend. The poor pet. Tell her I was asking for her. Is she still at home or have they admitted her again?

  8. Liath is harness trained and loves to go outside. It really doesnt harm the feathers. She does tend to pick at the harness. So I just keep moving around to keep her occupied. I dont know if the harness is uncomfortable, or just easy to reach and have a nibble on. But she loves it. All I have to do is hold it up and she flies over to me instantly as she knows what it means.
  9. I use one. I never thought about the possibility of it being dangerous. No harm to my birds! Anybody else???
  10. Hi James and Corkey, I am in Ireland, so it is nice to see someone else in the same time zone! You have already discovered how helpful everyone is here, so ask any questions that pop into your head!

    success!!!

    That is great news! That is the big one, after this it should be much easier to manage him. We play the stairs game where they step from hand to hand like they are climbing stairs, with lots of excitement and "Good Birdies"! Sometimes they flap their wings to climb the stairs faster. Of course they never get to the top;)
  12. Brilliant Max!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: There is some skill in that... he will make a basketball player yet... if he could just gain a little bit of height Are there rules about flying to the hoop in basketball????
  13. Oh ok, so really she hadnt finished the first time! She isnt plucking, isnt bald anywhere but is losing a LOT of feathers. And is very grouchy sometimes because she has so many pin feathers all over her that she must be sore. Petting her at the moment is a bit like petting a hedgehog:)
  14. Liath is coming up on 2 and seems to be losing a lot of feathers, very much like the first molt. Do they lose all their feathers within a couple of months each year? Or is it a gradual and continous process after the first molt?
  15. Congrats Oggie. Great name... Its weird hearing a bird talk in English isnt it? Sending some karma to Oggie!
  16. You poor thing... 3 months to wait!! I was so lucky with both my birds as I didnt have to wait for either of them. I just chanced on Liath in a pet shop and fell in love and took her home, all in the same day. And Oisin was advertised at 3 months, so again I went to the breeder and took him home. I really feel for people who have to wait for their babies, and yours isnt even hatched yet! On the plus side you will get to see your grey grow, where mine were almost adult sized when I got them!
  17. I think at some time or other we all call our greys Monster or some derivative of it!! {Feel-good-0002006B}
  18. Go easy on the bad language Gordon, you dont want Charlie repeating any of it
  19. I particularly like the textured effect the oatmeal gives on the walls. The best advice is to move the cage a couple of inches every week or so to get an even effect No she learned that whistle somewhere!
  20. Congratulations on your new baby Simon... named after Simon Cowell by any chance? If so I hope he doesnt have the same attitude
  21. Congratulations! See isnt that better than waiting
  22. I can see them! {Feel-good-000200BB}
  23. It is hilarious though... all the funny words that have been mixed in. "I think I might have a spud tree commonly going down there. As it is of course, I wouldn`t want to drift further off topic so... I`m disturbingly growing it for my boys to perch on" WHAT??? {Feel-good-0002006E}
  24. This is a great thread! Can I add that keeping toys especially for one on one play time is also a good idea? I keep special toys that my birds dont play with alone, only with me. That way these toys are much more fun, and are a treat to share with me. I also have toys that they are only allowed play with on the sofa which keeps them entertained in the evenings. Its like children, some games are much more fun when mammy plays with you
  25. I bought those coloured rings that the bird is supposed to put on pegs. My birds love to play with them, but the object of the game is to see whether they can get them all off faster than I can put them back on again. The only problem is they cheat and take off 2 and 3 at a time. Occasionaly they help and put one back on for me. Beak ball is another favourite. I have a small ball that I think is probably supposed to be for cats... its plastic and has holes in it. Liath loves to fling it across the table and then chase it and fling it again. My only role in the game is to rescue it from the floor about a thousand times for her. My 9 year old plays a game where the birds sit on top of their cage and she gives them a ring. And they throw it and she tries to catch it. Gives it back to them and they fling it again. Basically, the more excited we get about a game, the longer they play the game.
