  1. Yes they are. One will be 1 and one will be 2 in July. They are caged separately so they get their cuddle time in when they are out!
  2. Thank you Pat, its such a pain. I have been using natural perches for the little birds, now I need to make one for Oisin. Liath chews on her chew toys, loves them and I replace them regularly. But Oisin prefers furniture and now perches! He hasnt made much headway on it during the night. I had bought 2 dog toys, one for each of them a couple of months ago. Oisin destroyed his in a few days but Liaths was still ok. So I gave him that last night. Took his mind off the perch. I was afraid I would find the perch in 2 halves this morning I will head down to the woods this morning when the dew dries and find something for him to use

  4. Yes I do... I have a small wood in the garden. I could collect the shredded stuff and use it to mulch the garden  ! I have mostly ash trees - would they be ok?
  5. Thats a great idea. I will have to get him a new perch first though, because I imagine by tomorrow he will have worked his way completely through it. Oisin is also the bird who redesigned the doors and door frames with his beak before we clipped him  Maybe I should give him some fruit pastilles... "You just gotta chew!" (Just kidding... in case any one thinks I would actually give him sweets!!)
  6. If you are looking for something cheap and cheerful, what about using a dog crate? They collapse right down, and you could attach cups and concrete perches to the sides. That could be placed on a table or dresser at your parents...
  7. Yesterday morning I noticed lots of bits of wood in the bottom of the cage and realised Oisin had chewed on his perch a little. He has one long one the width of his cage which is timber. I changed the paper etc and this morning there was lots more. He has chewed it nearly in half! He has 2 leather straps with all sorts of wooden blocks on them in his cage to chew on but he hasnt even touched those. Any ideas on how to stop him? He seems to be doing it at night time.
  8. Sprout's a cheeky little dare devil isnt he? You'd think he would be afraid of the cockatoo  Yes I can definitely see why clipping was the only option. I clip the budgies and cockatiels too because they like to fly to the greys cage and would get their toes amputated! At least now I can have them out when the greys are in, and not worry about where they get to. Little birds fly so much faster than bigger ones dont they?
  9. {Feel-good-0002006E} I LOVE this thread... it is so funny because it is so true
  10. {Love-000200C2} Happy hatchday to all of you...
  11. Whoah there Judy... calm down   leave the poor guy alone! Smokey do you have any camera shops near you? Over here they offer the facilities to take photos from your phone to a disc using bluetooth for a fee of course:P

She didnt say anything other than Hello until she was 13months old, and now there is no stopping her. My younger grey is 11 months now, and he has a few words, but he is learning from her and not from us!
  13. I have your cockatiels sister!!! She is definitely the dumbest cockatiel!!! She is a living breathing statue. Just sits in her cage or on a chair or wherever I put her all day long. About a month ago I got her a little cockatiel buddy and she acts a bit more like a tiel now! We are in the process of building her an aviary, and I am hoping she might act a bit more like a bird;) Welcome to the forum, I wish you luck with getting your grey!
  14. Yep, Jake has to come before a bird you dont even know yet. And he may not take to a new bird too well. I think you made the right choice for what its worth!
  15. What did you decide to do Dan? Are you going to get the Jenday?
  16. I had never weighed them before (I know I should be weighing them regularly  ) Liath is a fatso at 490 and Oisin is a slip of a thing at 445! Funny, they both look about the same size...
  17. I have just bought a jar from 24parrots.com I have bought from them before and their delivery times are brilliant. I bought a bag of nuts as well. I will let you know if my fussy birds will eat either of them
  18. I dont leave the tv on, because I figure they can talk to each other. But in the evenings we all head to the sitting room to watch tv. And they seem to love it. At least they love to shout back at it. Thank God Sky Plus was invented and we can rewind live tv
  19. You'd best learn quickly cos I am dying to see pictures. 2 babies, how lucky are you!!!! What are their names?
  20. I shower them... Liath got very scruffy looking when she was about 1 particularly on the front edges of her wings (I dont know the proper name for them). Lots of showers later and she looks lovely now! Some people use aloe vera spray after their shower too.
  21. Aw that is cute... a parrot playing with a duck! I buy baby toys for my greys too because parrot toys are just so expensive. And it doesnt matter whether they are parrot or baby toys, they destroy them anyway!!
  22. Oisin did that too and I was afraid to put my hand up over my head to get him to step up because he bites me.. hard. So I used the playstand and got him to step onto that every time he went for my head. I think he has finally got the message... almost a year later:S
  23. I looked at his web site and the video of his night time cuddles is absolutely gorgeous. I cant imagine my birds letting me do that! He really is a special bird!
  24. That is a great idea. Then you can name her or him even before you get the DNA results. Best of luck with your new baby, July cant come soon enough for you!!!
