Well hello Baby!!! I like to welcome everyone! So that is you included lol. Even though I can look across the room and say hello lmao! Glad you decided to join us!! I'll even give you the special welcome sign I made, cause well your just special lol! -
Yes Tiff we are looking at April 18th! And your right I am getting very excited! And the stupid thing is it's suppose to be Jessie's bird lol. I only wish I knew enough about hand feeding! I would get him now! He's down to 3 feedings a day!! So hopefully it won't be much longer!!

He is really getting big! I know the other day I asked Janice how much he weighed and she told me and it was very close to being almost at his adult weight! I was happy to hear that. He is starting on pellets and veggies and stuff too! So won't be too much longer I hope!!

Looking to get a baby grey - Advice please
Ronda477 replied to ClaireBear's topic in The GREY Lounge
Yes Claire there are a bunch of us that travel with our Grey's. That doesn't seem too bad though only 1/2 hour each way. I'm sure like you said that he will get used to it especially if you do it while they are young. Just make sure they can't fly off. That would be a bad thing! -
Wow Tiffani!!! Those are great pics!!!!!!!
-
No problem rational and looks like Muse gave you some good tips as well! So now you can keep your baby safe!!

Looking to get a baby grey - Advice please
Ronda477 replied to ClaireBear's topic in The GREY Lounge
Hello Claire! I have a Quaker that is 12 and a TAG that is 10 months and we are just getting a Goffin as well! Welcome to the forum and as Judy said read up on as much as you can, for there are a ton of good info on this forum! As for the dogs and stuff, we have 5 of them! My TAG seems to be fine with them. I have read though that the TAG's are a little less picky as far as the person they choose, they tend to be a family bird and they also tend to pick less compared to studies done. But that isn't keeping me from one day getting a CAG. So I wouldn't worry too much about your dogs except for them eating them lol. Keeping them in the family room is awesome! They love the attention! I would try to get a younger one being you have a flock already and dogs as well, that way the baby could get used to it all. As if it were an older bird it may have had a nice quite home before and than all the noise and stuff may make it pick. But just ask away if you have questions and please read, read, read! -
Oh wow Berna those are something! They would be a nice addition one day!

The scents that all of those give off are bad for your birds respiratory system. Some people still use them and I had used them and candles for the last 8 years with my Quaker not knowing that it hurts them in the long run. It's a matter of yes the bird gets hurt by it, some it's instant death some it's a build up. Do you want to chance it? It's up to you when it comes to these things and only you can make that decision. But here is a link on how your birds system works. http://people.eku.edu/ritchisong/RITCHISO/birdrespiration.html Here is another one for you to read up on http://www.companionparrot.com/Household%20Dangers.htm These are just the facts, you have to use your own digression as how to get rid of what you want and don't want to take a chance with. I hope this helps you! I know it is some reading to do, but honestly it will just better your knowledge for everything out there. If I say get rid of it than there will be some to say no it's ok, and than just the opposite, so to avoid any controversy I will just give you facts and you can go from there. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask! For this is a place to learn about our little one!!!
-
Ok than lol, sounded like you were complaining cause there was no place just for men on here and there was too many of us woman lol. You mean to tell me a good lookin Italian in NY can't find a girl friend???

LOL Kat! I think that's what Joe's point was lol, but honestly I think he likes it that way!

Well ya know Judy it's getting hard to find ones you haven't heard before lmao! Let's try this one! SNORING .... A couple has a dog that snores. Annoyed because she can't sleep, the wife goes to the vet to see if he can help. The vet tells the woman to tie a ribbon around the dog's testicles, and he will stop snoring. 'Yeah right!' she says. A few minutes after going to bed, the dog begins snoring, as usual. The wife tosses and turns, unable to sleep. Muttering to herself, she goes to the closet and grabs a piece of red ribbon and ties it carefully around the dog's testicles. Sure enough, the dog stops snoring! The woman is amazed. Later that night, her husband returns home drunk from being out drinking with his buddies. He climbs into bed, falls asleep and begins snoring loudly, The woman thinks maybe the ribbon might work on him. So, she goes to the closet again, grabs a piece of blue ribbon and ties it around her husband' s testicles. Amazingly, it also works on him! The woman sleeps soundly. In the morning, the husband wakes from his drunken stupor and stumbles into the bathroom. As he stands in front of the toilet, he glances in the mirror and sees a blue ribbon attached to his privates. He is very confused and as he walks back into the bedroom, he sees the red ribbon attached to his dog's testicles. He shakes his head and looks at the dog and whispers, 'I don't know where we were.. or what we did. But, by God, we took first and second place.

Ok I guess there are different ways! I did some reading for you and there are some that like it behind them and others that like it in front of them. But here is something I read. Using a flash to photograph people who are standing in front of a very bright background - such as the ocean waves or on the beach - will help to highlight the subjects and deemphasize the background, exactly what you want for most brightly-lit beach photography. No matter where you're shooting - in the snow or in bright, sunny conditions - remember that isolating your subject matter can often make for the most dramatic photographs of all. Instead of trying to capture the big picture, move in close, perhaps activating and using your camera's macro feature. Shooting up-close will often alleviate the problem of having too much reflectivity in your photograph altogether, and through isolating a scene that's representative, you may well end up with a picture that has the impact you desire. Hope that helps! I love taking pictures especially since I got my new camera! Hope you have fun!!!

Sun behind you, if not you'll just see the sun and not your students very well. If you have settings on your camera you may want to take a look at them as well. I know mine has settings for low lighting with and without flash, scenery settings and subject settings where it just focus's on the subjects and not soo much on the background.
