Poor poor Joe! I'm in the same boat for the most part lol. I'm a stay at home mom now. Been that way since Dec. I love it though, will give me some time to do some stuff to the house that I wanted to get in order. But the snow is gone and the mud is back! It is like 40 here today. Went to the laundry mat to do clothes! I hate that! Picked up the kids, went over to my mom's, made some bird cage covers on her sewing machine. Picked up Jessie from work, fed horses, came home, cleaned kitchen, re-heated some left overs for dinner. Hate to waste stuff! And than do it all over again tomorrow lol. My mother in law and I say that we live the movie "Groundhog Day" cause we do the same things basically day in and day out. But guess that's life. So don't be sad Joe!!

LOL now people stop messing with my bird lol! I have a pic too on him eating his pellets now! I will try to post that. She mixes the pellets in with his formula now that she spoon feeds him and he is liking that. He is starting to eat his pellets on his own now too! She said as soon as he's eating enough to satisfy himself by himself than he can come home to us!!! But here is the pic of him!

Well thank you everyone! I'm glad to get the Karma, but just really wanted this to be on here cause for one, I wouldn't have known how to do it and being able to do it for a person I would have been mad at myself if for some reason I couldn't have done it for my birds. Is def different than on a person lol, but hey, it's worth a try when you need it!

Found one! On the first day, God created the dog and said: 'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.' The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?' So God agreed. On the second day, God created the monkey and said: 'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.' The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?' And God agreed. On the third day, God created the cow and said: 'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.' The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty, and I'll give back the other forty?' And God agreed again. On the fourth day, God created man and said: 'Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years.' But man said: 'Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?' 'Okay,' said God, 'You asked for it.' So that is why for our first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grand- children. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information. I'm doing it as a public service.

LOL I know i have a ton that are inappropriate lol

Hi Kelly I agree with some of the other members. SweetHeart is 10 months old today and I can hear her say almost everything I say to her under her breath lol. But she just started this about 3 weeks ago give or take. When we first got her at 6 months she wasn't even really doing any sounds either. But now about 4 or 5 times a day for about 45 minutes a piece she is slowly doing more and more! I heard her do her Wooo Wheee! Yesterday. And my phone voice "Hello". So the fun is just starting for us! Hang in there, not all do talk, but if she is doing the muttering that is exactly what Sweetheart does! So watch out in a few months lol. There are some that say their parrots talk at an early age, just like some mothers like to brag that some of their kids walk or talk at an early age lol. Just ignore what everyone else's kid is doing and enjoy yours! lol Zak will come around sooner than you think, I thought the same thing and now she is getting there!!!

No Problem Tiff! I think I should have named it something else though so others would come and learn too lol. I don't know who has read it and who hasn't lol. But guess it's just good that it's here on the forum just in case!

Yes John and Cath almost all birds love the reflection of themselves. Guess you can say they are conceited lol. Some will say Oh the bird will bond to the bird they see in the mirror and not to use them. But there are many people out there that are the opposite. But SweetHeart hasn't had a mirror yet. Thought of getting her one though. Glad you are having fun with Dusty!

lol good job! And nice photo again! Love them keep them comin!

Corey Haim How long have you been with your other half? Or if not, than what was your longest relationship? shortest?

Well being he was checked out just recently I would say that it was the routine change. SweetHeart has gone through that as well. She came from the breeder always being there to our house where we both worked all day and than I am now a stay at home mom so she has been through some changes. She is 10 months old actually tomorrow. Mine will go through her playful days and than others not touch her toys at all really. Maybe some other members could help as well, but in my opinion it sounds normal going by what SweetHeart does.

Wow very nice macaw!! See I knew you could do it jdr! lol
-
Hello Corrigaan! Welcome to the bunch! There are tons of good info on here you'll just have to read a bunch lol. But well worth it! SweetHeart was our first big bird as well and it's been interesting! Just read up and if you have any questions please ask away!

LOL Thanks Gus! Karma is when you like what someone has said or if they helped you. If someone is bad mouthing someone or just being rude you can give them the thumbs down. But giving them the thumbs up is good! We normally don't give a thumbs down if there is just a difference in opinion because well everyone is entitled to their own. But I see you gave me a thumbs up! So Thank you!

I agree with Mark aka Dblhelix. They love to forage at the bottom of the cage and after reading a link on here as well as doing research for our baby cockatoo we are getting I have learned that the foraging is natural and they love to do it and there are tons of people that encourage it for them, so they have some kind of natural habitat going in their own cage. Cleaning it daily would work well and there are more things you can put at the bottom of the cage as well to help keep the mess of of him. Here is a link posted on another thread we had just a little bit ago. You need to have Adobe reader for it though. http://www.indonesian-parrot-project.org/pdf_files/foraging_tray.PDF

Hi Heather! The first cage is nice, and I wanted the same one as well actually. I read though that they can get up in the curved part and be hard to get out. It is a nice cage though. The second cage is not for Grey's at all. The bars would be too easy to bend and it is meant for finches and smaller type birds. A cage for a grey should have 3/4 bar spacing and usually made out of rod iron. Here is a link to the one I just bought for our cockatoo and a nice price as well. I found it on ebay! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEBTOX:IT&item=160210826908&_trksid=p3984.cTODAY.m238.lVI And than here is the picture of the cage I have SweetHeart our TAG in.

LOL Marlene, trust me mine won't even do half the things on here that others say theirs do lol. But I found a video on youtube for you, cause I have seen a bunch of them like this, even though they are NOT suppose to be known for being cuddly! But trust me what you are able to do is just great! Keep it up!

A 6th grade science teacher, Mrs Parks, asked her class, "Which human body part increases to 10 times its size when stimulated?" No one answered until little Molly stood up, angry, and said, "You should not be asking 6th graders a question like that! I'm going to tell my parents, and they will go and tell the principal, and you'll get fired!" She then sat back down. Mrs. Parks ignored her, and asked the question again, "Which body part increases to 10 times its size when stimulated? Little Molly's mouth fell open, and she said to those around her, "Boy, is she gonna get in big trouble" The teacher said to the class, "Anybody?" Finally, Jimmy stood up, looked around nervously, and said, "The body part that increases to 10 times its size when stimulated is the pupil of the eye." Mrs. Parks said, "Very good, Jimmy." Then turned to Molly and continued, "As for you, young lady, I have three things to say: First, you have a dirty mind. Second, you didn't read your homework. And third, one day you are going to be VERY, VERY disappointed."

lol yes that seems to be happening allot lately lol. We are getting a Goffin Cockatoo baby and well it's suppose to be hubbies baby lol. But I'll be home with it all the time hehehe
-
Yes Hopefully you will NEVER need it, but just like people things happen. So wanted to post it just in case!!
-
hhhmmmm probably the fact that my daughter (12) said she has nothing to wear and the fact be it that she could wear a different outfit for 3 weeks and not wear the same thing twice lol. I know cause I just went in there to help her find them all! When you were growing up, who was the one you dreamed of? Such as getting married to a actor/actress or singer.
-
No problem jdr! Keep us updated on how she is doing!
-
That is great Gus! That's what I do as well with hubby. I let him take her out occasionally. Glad to hear it is working better for you and your b/f! I'm sure you guys will be a happy bunch here before too long, just takes time and patience!
-
Yes, it's normal and a little paranoid is normal as well lol. They sleep throughout the day anyway here and there. And being she is a new place, just like if you slept somewhere new you wouldn't get a great sleep either. Same thing with these little ones. But they sleep anyways on and off during the day no matter how old they are. Your doing good! Here is a site for you too since you just brought your baby home, maybe you have read it and maybe you haven't but thought I would include it! http://www.aviannetwork.com/africangreys/babygrey.htm
