chapala you apparently have no idea how this bird is with us lol. She had a very rough flight to get to me and this was months ago, but she's still trying to get over it. TO take her in the bathroom or any other room is just a big no no with her and the flighted thing lol she is clipped but can still fly, that is another long story lol. But I will try gradual thanks!

lol no I told you guys she was a brat! lol She is sitting there on her swing all fluffed up. But like I said she's not really wet just a little. I was spraying sort of at her which I guess could cause a prob lol, but she was running around her cage! Kind of hard to hit her on the top lol. But yes she is just sitting there giving me an eye mumbling lol

Ok well here is the thing she is sitting in her cage and not preening she's just kind of shaking which was going to be another question of mine but anyway she's not preening. I just used the mist on the bottle but of course it just seemed to roll off of her for the most part, but she is somewhat wet. Should I have kept spraying? It seems until they kind of spread their feathers slightly they don't get all the way wet. What should I do?????? lol:S

Thanks Judy! Like I said she does somewhat take a bath in her dish but she doesn't get soaked like our quaker, our quaker loves loves loves to bath. But SweetHeart just doesn't care for it unless it's her idea and I have even waited till it was her idea stuck her in her cage and tried to spray her so she could get pretty wet and she hates that too. But I will go ahead and do it, just wanted to know if I was doing wrong but doing it and having her growl at me.

Well hello ya'll lol. I have a question actually a couple but will post more in a bit. SweetHeart of course needs to have a bath every once in awhile. I have read on this on here. She seems to try to do it herself in her water dish but can't fit in it lol. She gets her belly wet and some of her head from dunking it in there. My question is and I've asked this before and got the answer to spray her with a bottle every once in awhile is, when I do this she gets all mad! She growls like crazy at me! I don't want to ruin anything I have built with her which isn't much to begin with, should I keep spraying her? Like I said because she has this reaction I only do it like twice a month cause I don't want her to hate me. I have tried the bowl of water (shallow) on the floor of the cage, on her playstand on the counter and she won't go near it. The breeder supposibly sprayed her and she was suppose to be used to this but I guess not! So do I keep doing it and let her get used to it or what? Thanks!

Tried that too Reta! lol trust me I think I have been trying absolutely everything! I think just patience is the key for her cause I have tried about everything I have read on here and trust me I have read tons! She loves peanuts, but actually she only loves to take the peanut out and that is it lol. Once in awhile she will eat it. But I have bought everything around here trust me to try to give to her. Besides the harmful things of course. I thank you for all the support though! And of course all the thoughts, but she is going to be a hard case to crack lol.

Tickle just to let you know your patience will be rewarded! We have had SweetHeart since the end of Oct and we are still trying to make her feel like family! But slowly but surely she is coming around! Sounds like you have great advice that the other members have given. Welcome to the forum and keep us updated! And yes they love baby toys! My TAG doesn't like when I spray her by the way either but I do it occasionally just cause she's too big to do what she tries to do herself which is get in her water dish lol

Wish it did guys! But SweetHeart won't take anything food wise from my hands! She loves her keys lol but she won't take food! I have tried about every food they have here healthy 99% of it and tried to give to her. There are only soo many things they offer here in WV lol. We live in a very very small city so there aren't a whole lot of unusual fruits and stuff available just your basics apples and oranges and broccoli and cauliflower lol. But I still try to give her stuff, just hasn't worked yet! When I was doing research on which one I should get I found more info on the TAG's being more of a family bird. Now I'm sure if you socialized any bird with the family when they are young you would have a pretty good chance of the same thing being said. I own a TAG and she is still getting used to us. She is independent that's for sure! But I think every bird just has their own personality. But I have read that as far as sounds and speaking they are the same, and the main difference was the size and color. I do hope to own a CAG one day they are very pretty!

I went to Wendy's parrots her link is http://www.wendysparrots.com/html/contact_us.html I got SweetHeart off of her in Oct. she is a nice woman. Look into some others though as well. I didn't have any problems with her personally and she does take good care of her birds but I think I would've rather gotten a bird off of someone who didn't have as many birds to take care of than maybe my little one would've been a little more socialized. But being you are close to her, you may be able to get it as soon as it is weaned. Which I wasn't able to do, I had to wait about a month cause of weather and $. But I found her to be reasonable and she will let you pay a little at a time till the baby is ready. Good Luck!

They have some preening toys out there too that you might want to try, and some of the others have posted good ideas as well, does he have a lot of toys? Do you change the toys out often so he's not getting bored with the same one? Have you changed his diet? Like changed brand of pellets or seed any? Does he bath often? Do you spend time talking to him or is he basically just left in the corner? I am not assuming anything at all please understand, just trying to help with some questions on what can cause this. Is he in a room where he can see you when you are home? Has your schedule changed? These are all things that can make a bird pluck plus there are plenty more things, was just trying to give some idea as to why. Please keep us updated.

Ok thanks to Dan I have a question lol. SweetHeart as most of you know has had a very rough flight to get to us. That was back in Oct. If she flies off of her cage which happens normally twice a day, I actually think she does it to exercise her wings, but she will let any of us pick her up to bring her back to her cage/play stand. If I'm the one to get her she wants on my shoulder so I go ahead and make her happy and haven't had any problems, but she doesn't want to stay too long lol. It is more than she used to let me do. I can walk in the kitchen and talk to her and show her around the house a bit and than she is ready to go back to her stand. So if that makes her happy I am happy with the little bit of time she has given. If I tell her night night she will step up with no problem to go in her cage at night. If I just go over to her and want her to step up as long as I seem to say it she normally will, but there are times when she will growl away at me. When she does this I will make her step up cause normally I need her to go back in her cage if we are leaving or something. If I really don't need her for anything there has been a time or two I will just leave her, cause I don't want to force her. I only force her when I have to and I mean business. She flies off her cage when being talked to and we have our hands behind our back not pushing ourselves on her but I have the kids go up and talk, she normally won't fly with them but she does with my husband. Found out she doesn't like ball caps lol. So he will talk to her without one on and you can tell when she's getting ready to fly so he will back off and let her be, but wants her to know he means no harm. So basically the only time I get to spend with her is when she flies off her cage and I go to put her back. She lets me carry her for a minute or two lol. She has loved hearing me talk lately. I can tell she's interested cause she tilts her head and sometimes will make noises now to get me talking to her. So for the book I just wrote, can anyone give me some pointers on maybe getting a little closer to her, or do you think she is just a nobodies bird? She seems to favor me a bit, but than again she won't hang out with me. So I am just giving her time. If she was meant to hang with me she will eventually I guess, but for now she stays on her cage/play top next to my chair where I sit all the time and we talk. And I don't work any more, so that is helping with her. I quit cause of a bunch of crap that people think they can get away with lol. But soo not for this forum lol. But I think too that the extra time I get to be here with her will help in the long run, maybe that's why she finally starting with the noises and more mumbling on words! Hey Everyone! Sorry haven't been on here in a little bit but there hasn't been anything to really write about. SweetHeart is still the same. She really won't let anyone just hold her or sit on the chair with me. So I haven't written much. BUT today she started making all kinds of noises!!!!! Not just a whistle or some mumbling like she was doing I mean tons of noises!! It was just weird cause it just came out all of a sudden and a bunch of them. It was like she was saving them and showing off for all of us tonight. I loved it! I'm sure I'll be telling her to shut up soon enough lol but tonight I have been waiting for this since I got her! It has been a very long patient road with her. It was just nice to hear her tonight. I know it probably sounds lame to some but I wanted to share. With everything she has gone through with her flight to get here and it has now been almost 3 months that we have had her and haven't really made too much progress with her. Not from lack of trying let me tell you. But just letting her take her time with things. Well just thought I would update all of you. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is off to a good start with their New Year! Talk to everyone later, hope I'll be on here more. Maybe this is the road to improvement with her. I am at home more now so maybe that is helping!

Merry Christmas to everyone!!! Wish we had a little snow here to make it look like Christmas but hey we are all healthy and kids can't wait till morning! Thanks, she hasn't done anymore she picked just a little tiny patch and then stopped. We were lucky not sure why she started or why she stopped but glad she did. Since we bought our TAG home she has let almost everyone touch her and handle her which she never did before. But she has stopped plucking sorry I never updated this I actually forgot about it. But thanks for reading!

SweetHeart hates the color Yellow! We have no problem with her with the vacuum cleaner, but it has a yellow feather duster on it and I pulled that out to dust some stuff and than she went crazy on me! She was growling really really bad and flopping around her cage. I of course put it away right away! Than today I had a yellow/orange cleaning rag and she growled again. So I have to do away with anything yellow lol. She hates anything on your head too like a towel coming out of the shower or when my husband wears his baseball hat, she throws a fit! She is 7 months old so we are still learning her likes and dislikes. As far as her pellets go, she leaves all the green and yellow ones in there lol.

SweetHeart is 7 months old and she doesn't even barely do any sounds. Once in awhile she will but not too much yet. When she does it I try to make a big deal out of it and tell her to tell me more lol. I'm sure it won't be too long though. I tell her the same things over and over, surely one day she will catch on or finally tell me to change MY story lol.

He is actually very small. He's full grown at 4lbs! That is one reason my daughter loves him, he will stay that small and still keep looking like a bunny lol.
