  5. Thanks for the suggestion Penny Are they a US pellet, i have never come across them here in the UK or perhaps i wasnt looking hard enough
  6. Di continue to offer the fruit & veggies, mornings tends to be the best time when they are at their hungriest There is plenty of threads in the bird food room on introducing foods, have a flick through there when you have the time. Where's our piccy of monty ?
  7. Thanks Spooky,This has been an amazing story to follow.
  8. Hi Mel, vegetable Dye colours are derived from the natural pigments of plants and botanical products Sounds as if you have been busy, introducing a variety of toys is a good thing
  9. We try to be Mel It Certainly helps
  10. After viewing the video i too would be inclined to leave the door open & let Dorian come out on his own accord,he doesnt look comfortable with you offering your hand & asking him to step up from inside the cage,he is obviously getting angry.Try placing a treat just out of reach to encourage him to come out.Once he was out he seemed fine being asked to step up.
  11. What a wonderful update Pat.Tyco it seems definately loves her mommy Im so pleased for you.
  12. Great pictures Melissa Talon is as cute as ever & Rikki is adorable. Now are you sure about the dorito
  13. Steve that is wonderful news,im sure Alfie will be much loved just as George was.A great choice of name, i have an Alfie Please be sure to keep us updated .
  14. I don't personally use water bottles, mine love to dunk their food in their water bowls & make birdy soup I know some people use them when there at work, this ensures that their greys have fresh water while their out of the house.
  15. Laurie it is a matter of personal choice, a good quality seed mix feed alongside fruit, veggies pulses etc.. offers a good nutritional diet to our greys. Some babies are not weaned onto pellets & will not willingly take to pellets.my 4 greys do not eat pellets but im pretty convinced they are as healthy as any grey on a pelleted diet.
  16. Mas considering Zanzu's history you have every right to air on the side of caution, the lose of downy feathers is quite normal, keep an extra vigiliant eye on her & keep us posted as you do
  17. Thank you for sharing that with us.
  18. This is a good link for step up... http://exoticpets.about.com/od/behavior/f/birdstepup.htm This one covers both.. http://www.pricelessparrots.com/step-up-training.htm
  19. Laurie your have to try & capture klaus doing his power tool impression on video for us
  20. Harrisons are probably a good choice MM2M but not all greys will readily accept them my 4 greys included.I personally will not push one particular brand on the forum but it's fine for members to comment on their personal choice of pellet.
  21. Well if he is eating the Rainbow Exact i personally would stick with that, i know many members feed Harrisons but no all birds like them mine included ! My macaw has the rainbow exact alongside the veggies, fruit etc..I have been sneaking some in for the greys & they have been tempted to nibble on them. The other thing you could try is to go online look the various pellet companies up & see if they offer free samples, this way you could try your grey on the various ones available
  22. We have had a few members offer items for sale, perhaps if you add your location & add exactly what cage your looking for then if theres any members near you they could contact you via a pm
  23. I'm afraid there is no easy way to make a grey stay put on a playstand,it's a case of making the stand as appealing to your grey as you can, plenty of interesting toys, perhaps a foraging toy with a treat inside.Everytime your grey flys from the stand it's a case of returning her & giving her a command such as "stay" it takes time & patience & you may have to repeat the process over & over to get results. As you know if she is out then you have to supervise her continually with your young daughter & for the glass you need to take her right up to it,tap on it so she can see its a solid item, you can hang something to distract her from flying into it,dreamcatcher etc, other than that then a simple piece of voile/net panel. If clipping is the safest option for you just be sure you have a knowledgeable avian vet who knows what they are doing,so many greys receive bad wing clips far too often.
