  3. Hi Blaine & Welcome I have no doubt you would make a good grey owner but you need to discuss every aspect of owning a grey with your parents, will they care & commit themselves 100% ? Have a good read around all the threads on the froum perhaps with one of your parents
  4. Hi Doorknob & Welcome to the forum,we look forward to hearing more from you
  5. Hi Zahra & welcome to the forum, we look forward to hearing more from you Please have a good read through the various threads here on the forum, any questions please ask.
  6. Mel i use the rawhide & many parrot toys are sold with rawhide. As for the dog chains i wouldnt know hopefully Connie will see this post & be able to answer.Coloured bricks, beads i always purchase from the baby store or toy shop that why i know they are coloured with non toxic paint. You could use plain wooden blocks & if you wanted to add colour use a vegetable dye when i make toys with rope i tend tend to only have a 2 or 3 inches of the rope exposed,as with all toys they need to be closely supervised & removed once they look a little worse for wear.
  7. Perfect choice of name
  8. I got large in Purple & Millie hates it
  9. Hi Toni, yes it is possible she has plucked her own feathers either for nesting or something called a brood patch,im not sure if Amazons do this but a brood patch is where the female exposes her skin allowing more warmth to her eggs.
  10. Hi Ian & Jack,Welcome to the forum Where in London are you from ?

  14. {Feel-good-0002006E}
  15. I have varied perches in my bedroom including cement perches, therapeutic perches & sandy perches,They vary from 1 inch - 2 inch.A rule of thumb for telling if a perch is too small in diameter for your bird is, their toes shouldnt touch/meet once the perch is gripped.
  16. Lyric the muscle weakness ties in with the low calcium level ,Calcium is required for proper muscle function, and when blood levels are low it can show as weak muscles .
  17. As Mark has asked about diet & rightly so , i have added some foods you could try on your grey which are all excellent sources for the absorbtion of calcium. Kale, turnip greens, collard greens, broccoli, spinach and all other dark green vegetables, almonds & as a treat a small cube of cheese every so often
  18. Any serious health issues/questions should be addressed back to your vet,we are not qualified in avian medicine to give out accurate diagnosis ,the vet has done blood work & found low calcium levels,if the levels was sufficiently low, did he prescribe any calcium supplements ? Has their been any improvement ? If you are at all concerned you need to make another vets appointment. Here is a link for an article written by a very respected UK vet on hypocalcemia... http://www.theparrotsocietyuk.org/index.php/Hypocalcaemia/55
  19. Yes jokes aside it is certainly a bizarre one.you are taking the appropriate action & returning her to the perch this is the correct route to follow, alongside that i would tell her a firm no & ignore her for a few minutes even leaving the room if need be,hopefully given time she will get the message that this is not acceptable behaviour .Will be interesting to have your vets view on this.
  20. Rodney here is the thread about harnesses ... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73556-harness-training.html
  21. Well it may confuse him as he is use to it,he knows no different, how do you know he is not responding ? or is it you don't like the name you chose ? If your going to change it,do it now while he is still young & stick with it .
