  2. Hi Toni, i wish you well with your breeding programme, i know you will have fully researched every detail prior to embarking on this. From what i know of here in the UK many dont start with Amazons or Greys they tend to start with the smaller species,& then move on to the larger birds. Interesting info there Dan,from what i know of ,the Toos are the one of the most frequently visitors to our rescue centres

Well thta's a bundle of help to the rest of us Penny
  4. They are wonderful pictures Melissa, thanks for sharing Siobhan i can't believe you have never seen a live firework display
  5. The uncooked rice is a debatable one, some feed uncooked, personally i cook mine before feeding it to my greys & macaw. From what information i can find i would suggest air on the side of caution & always cook it The uncooked popcorn is fine, but as Talon rightly points out i think they tend to play with it as opposed to actually eating the hard kernels.
  6. It may be possible but i imagine if that was the case then it would have meant your baby inhaling formula which is extremely dangerous, you are doing the correct thing by consulting your vet for advice. Birds sneeze for the same reasons we do: dust, nasal irritation, small bug or down feathers up the nasal cavity. Continual sneezing accompanied with a nasal discharge would require a vets exam.
  7. Dave we are all human, we make errors from time to time none of us are perfect yourself included im sure.Yes the date was an error & so was my reference to a new baby, that was a separate post, again looking to re-home a grey because a baby was on the way.If i am wrong i will be the first to put my hands up & i did, i also sent the guy a personal PM with my apologies.Personally i think far to many people acquire a grey without doing the necessary homework beforehand, they are a lifetime commitment not something to be passed on like a secondhand car !
  8. There all fine thank you kimmie, nice to see you back on the forum
  9. A nice little flock you have Kimmie, hows your grey doing ?
  10. Hi Terri, pleased to hear that Doc is bouncing back And in answer to your question, yes my greys & my latest addition Millie the macaw are my best friends,as hard as it is for some to imagine i love them unconditionally,i have had dark periods in my life & at times my birds are my angels with wings who lift me when things get tough.
  11. Myth Kimmie, are you getting another bird ? fill us in if you are
  12. Hi Loosma & welcome to the froum We look forward to hearing more from you.
  13. If a parrot seems nervous about a new toy being placed in the cage investigate the reason. Many times the toy can be too large or a certain-colour can frighten a bird for a particular reason. First, try leaving it out on a table a few feet from the cage. Then slowly over the next few days move it closer to the cage and see if the parrot responds more positively to it.Some greysneed to betaught how to play, here is a link for you.... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/the-nursery/73105-teaching-your-baby-to-play.html This one is for the step up... http://exoticpets.about.com/od/behavior/f/birdstepup.htm
  14. OMG Marcia that must make it even harder if you knew the person,im truly sorry.
  15. {Feel-good-0002006E} Siobhan has found the answer for you
  16. Thanks for sharing Melissa, not much wildlife where i am im afaid apart from the odd fox & plenty of badgers who just dig up your garden
  17. I don't think you need to re-home your grey, you obviously care for him, but as Casper i would have concerns from a safety aspect of leaving your grey out while your sleeping. You need to work out how to get the best out of your own personal situation, spending quality time with him when your awake & when your sleeping perhaps leave him in his cage with the TV or radio on, provide him with plenty of foraging toys in his cage to occupy him.
  18. Hi Rae, lovely to hear from you. Please dont feel sad for Angie, you have exhausted all the options & sometimes there is no justifiable explanation for the plucking..Angie knows she is loved & has a good life & i know you love her unconditionally Im sorry to hear of your ill health Rae, my prayers are with you. Please pop in now & then just to say hi
  19. Apologies for not reading the correct date on your old posts. I still think that a new baby on the way is not a strong enough reason to up root your grey to a new home, unfortunately it is something we see far too often
  20. Hi Nims & Welcome, look forward to hearing more from you & Indy
  21. Hi Norm & Welcome. I dont mean to appear nosy but you have a 26 day old baby grey, is the baby at work with you or is someone caring for your baby at home ?
  22. Siobhan is correct ... I did it - Bought a CAG today - 2007/03/31 22:01 Quote... Well after all my thinking I did it, I bought a Congo today. He's only a few weeks old and I have to heed him 3x a day. He is sooooo cute. Well from this is sounds as if you are wanting to sell the 1 1/2 year old grey to make way for your new baby, perhaps you may like to enlighten us ?
  23. A babies eyes start to open around 10 / 12 days, by around week three they have a black dot a little smaller than a match head in the middle of their eye, By week 4 babies have full vision.
