Soya is fine as Kitty says as long as it has no added sugar, & no added flavourings.There are many alternatives to offer your grey for a treat,i wouldn't personally give ice cream in any form..How about making your grey a nice fruit smoothie

In theory yes,what are you offering Oscar from your hand ? ideally you should feed him in the morning,thats when mine have a fresh fruit & dried fruit mix,then let him have access to his pellets/seeds through out the day to munch on.Then perhaps for evening/dinner some veggies,pasta etc..Im sure Oscar will then fill up once more before he settles for the night,greys tend to fill their crops before settling down.

Natural Balsa wood is perfectly safe for birds,but i doubt it will last very long a tougher alternative for chewing would be pine

Susan by 16 weeks greys are usually fully weaned,some do take slightly longer but in general they will be refusing hand-feeds & eating adequately on their own.It sounds to me as if he is telling you he has had enough.I would drop the first feed you give him & just offer a warm feed before bed,a little warm oatmeal or some baby food,dont be too concerned if he only has a small amount or refuses.As long as he is eating through out the day then there;s nothing to worry about.The little baby squeaks are perfectly normal.Keep an eye on the calcium perch,he may not be ingesting too much,the best way to ensure he gets his calcium is in his food..African greys are prone to calcuim deficiencies so be sure to offer foods which are rich in calcium,bok choy,spinach,broccoli,turnip greens,mustard greens...

It's just easier to clean off him while the formula is still moist,when it drys like that it's not only uncomfortable for him but you dont want to damage any of the pin feathers coming through while trying to clean him .

Lovely pictures, dont they just grow from week to week .I dont mean to be rude here but Loki does appear to be covered in formula,it's far easier to have a damp cloth to hand when feeding & wipe off any excess food than it is trying to remove it once it has dried on

As far as im aware there is not one available at present,it is something for the future.I would speak to your local vets & see if they know as to when such a chip would be on sale for pets.

If you stay with her while she is chewing on it,she will be fine & they really do enjoy them

Carrie im pleased the link was of some help,it may be worth mentioning the allergic alveoltis if your partner has to see the Doc It is from what i know quite rare but i do know of two people in the UK who suffer from it & it was directly related to them owning parrots.

Bearing in mind that George is 37 & if he was allowed to behave in such a way for a long time in his previous home it is going to take time for him to adjust to his new home & environment .As lyric suggests let your partner be the one to give George his favourite treat,if he can let him take George from the cage etc.. George has to see him as the good guy, possibly at present he may see him as a threat & that's why he is showing plenty of aggression. Unfortunately greys are well known for picking one member of the family to bond with & im afraid there is not much you can do to change their minds.Just take it a day at a time & see if your partner can gain some of Georges trust.

I'm sorry that Archie has had to experience a bad wing clip.This has obviously had a big impact on his confidence ,he has no idea as to why he has lost his flight so it's no wonder that he has withdrawn himself a little.The flight feathers will come back naturally through the molt but as it sounds as if all were clipped /damaged I'm afraid it may take anything up to a year.Just spend time with Archie,playing,talking,etc.. to try & help him regain his confidence.If he is falling,try padding out the floor with soft cushions etc,so he has a soft landing.
