The other day I was at a friend's apartment and as we left, we noticed this poor little guy had somehow fallen out of the nest and fell down into her stairwell... A baby starling, he couldn't fly and there was no way we could get him back into his nest... We wound up taking him to a friend of her's who knew how to handle such situations, so at least we know he will survive and be taken care of. =] He was so adorable, I had to post a picture...

I also use newspaper... Does anyone think it would be bad to line the cage with newspaper on TOP of the grate, where he could get to it? It's just that his poop sticks to the grate and it becomes nearly impossible to clean once it dries...

I'll try this with Jacques! Too bad it's dark and gloomy outside... and that I'll be away for the next few days... As far as the shower goes, do you just let him sit in the steam or does he actually go in the water? Jacques hates getting wet and always puts up a huge stink when I try to give him a birdie bath. What are the best AG-approved veggies for calcium?

JungleDreamz, an awesome set up, is the cage lined with sand? Or are those just shadows i'm seeing...

thanks judy, i'll try... i'm just so busy now with college life and since i don't see Jacques very often it doesn't occur to me to hang around the forums :whistle: lucky for us, my dad was able to borrow a generator so Jacques will be able to stay nice and cozy. just for fun, i've attached a picture of what my back yard looks like at the moment... edit: err... or... i tried... edit: how about this... Thanks guys, I told my mom to keep him inside wherever it's warmest and keep covering the cage. Hopefully power will be back soon

Well, I'm at school in florida but Jacques my CAG is home in new jersey. There has been so much snow in my town that when the wind picked up yesterday, 4 trees went down. Luckily, no houses were hit, but there is no power and my family has no idea when they will get it back. My mom said it's about 55 f in the house right now and about 50 outside... with no heat, we're not sure if we should keep him in our house or move him to my parents's friend's house which has power (this friend has babysat him before) I guess my question is... which is worse... temperatures in the 50's or the stress of moving into a different house for a while? My mom said he is acting normal, still talking, etc.

a device is invented to allow you to do so but it hasn't been perfected yet and still has a lot of bugs. unfortunately this means that it sometimes goes off on its own and makes you restart a day you didn't want to. sometimes this happens several times a day... i wish i could do a cartwheel.

Being a junior in high school, I don't really have a good story to share... I must admit, until CD mentioned it I didn't know it was so important to monitor a bird's weight. I'm looking for a scale now, but all the ones I've found online are digital and expensive... could anyone point me in the direction of a less expensive, non-digital scale?

At one point Jacques knew a few animal sounds as well, We forgot to keep asking him so he's forgotten many of them, but he used to know dog, cat, horse, duck, cardinal, and I believe we were working on pig at one point... I have to start teaching these sounds to him again, before he completely forgets. ^^
