  1. I have no idea except that I'm pretty sure Gatorade has a good deal of sodium in it... for a drink, at least. Edit: Oops. Judy posted the same thing before I could. ^^<br><br>Post edited by: Tricky, at: 2007/07/17 02:31
  2. YEAH pirates of the caribbean! I'm not a harry potter fan but it seems that everyone else I know is. Hehe. I didn't see the movie but my sister said it definitely wasn't as good as the book, as they left a lot of parts out.

    Cranberry Juice

Jack has never showed any interest in trying any kind of juice... he doesn't trust me with liquid around him ever since I first tried to give him a bath.
  4. Thanks for the tips. I wasn't aware of onions! Not that I had fed them to Jack anyway (I stay away from them. =] ) but it's good to know.
  5. At the moment Jack is my only pet, I had a mainecoon cat named Mozart since I was about two but he passed away about a year and a half ago, we're looking in to getting a new mainecoon kitten very soon. =] I've also had many hermit crabs, and a couple of male bettas, and for a short time, a baby wild rabbit, but that was a long time ago.
  6. http://members.tripod.com/The_African_Queen/sexing_greys.htm http://www.exoticpetvet.net/avian/appgreys.html http://www.metzger.nu/sexingofcag.html Of course, like everyone says and knows, these are not 100% accurate, but they're worth a look anyway. How many of you have CAGs that have been DNA sexed and are true to these guides? According to them, Jack is a girl. But I haven't had him DNA sexed yet.
  7. Very cool name for a bird! Hehe I like the fact that you have the same theme for all of your pets' names. =]
  8. Jack is always looking for a chance to bite me. He's gotten my fingers plenty of times, and once, somehow, the top of my upper lip. I had a scar there for about a year, but it's disappeared. I also have a couple of holes in a few of my shirts, Geoff. =P Haha I can't imagine Jack being upset that he managed to bite me, let alone burying his head in shame.
  9. Well done! ^^ I've never seen any other forum do anything like this. =]
  10. Oops, sorry. Didn't realize it already existed.
  11. Most of the time, Jack won't step up onto my hand unless I have a glove or sleeve covering it. Does anyone else have a grey like this? I thought it might be because when his nails get sharp, I tend to cringe when he holds on to my bare hands, but I'm not sure.
  12. A clicker is just a little plastic thing that makes a quick, two-toned click. Apparently the idea is to *click* during a good behavior, or a trick, and then give a treat. The bird learns to associate the sound with treats, and repeats the good behavior. A lot of people seem to swear by it. Here are some pages that explain it: http://www.il.essortment.com/clickertraining_pbj.htm http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww51eii.htm
  13. True. Okay, so now he has to say, "This is corona, like latin for crown, not as in beer, and not as in engineering, if that's what you're thinking."
  14. Tari that's such a cute picture! So bright and, well, colorful. Hehe.
  15. I saw a cockatoo on tv once named Elvis. Yes, it suited him well. =P Corona does sound nice, but you know you're gonna have to go through the explanation every time you introduce him/her to a new person... "This is Corona, like latin for crown, not like the beer, if that's what you're thinking." :silly:

  18. I thought I was winning for youngest at 16 but then I read TalonSis's post.
  19. Thanks everyone. ^^ Yes, Jack has the grate that separates the bottom pan from the rest of the cage.
  20. I will! I'm working on just touching a target stick with Jack right now and he seems to be catching on. I can't wait until he's ready to try new tricks! I'm so hopeful that this will really work. Jack's behavioral problems were making it very difficult for me to bond to him, since I'm not his #1 favourite person.
  21. I know we were talking about clicker training in another thread, but I couldn't find one entirely about this method. I heard about it today and went out and bought a clicker, and I'm beginning to train Jack. Who else has been using this method? Care to share tips/experiences?
  22. This is off topic but greylover are you from the UK? Hehe my best friend's boyfriend lives in London and she updates me on british sayings she learns from him, and one of them was "touch wood" as opposed to "knock on wood" as we say in america. Edit: Oh, I went to your profile and see you're from Spain now. Sorry I didn't check earlier, hehe. I guess it's not just Britain then. ^^<br><br>Post edited by: Tricky, at: 2007/07/14 21:09
  23. This topic title was especially entertaining to me because Carly is my real name. Living in the suburbs of New Jersey doesn't really make outdoor recall training feasible for Jack; so many trees, cars, and quite a few hawks. ^^;<br><br>Post edited by: Tricky, at: 2007/07/14 20:58
  24. Good point. I guess I will. Sand could also be terribly messy.
  25. I've always used newspaper to line the bottom of Jack's cage, but I've read on a few sites that some people recommend using sand or wood shavings. What does everyone here use?
