Hi Tari, Thats good news, that they will be ok with the shot and Med's! They are beautiful in that photo!!
-
HI Celery, Wow!!! What an interesting Parrot Vassa's are. The photos in the links are great, and as you stated, they must be very rare in captivity and perhaps Zoo's. I had never seen or heard of one before. Please keep us informed of his progress and Photo's as you get the chance. They are one beautiful Parrot!

Lidia - You better watch it or I'll post another imbedded in the email Tea spitter :woohoo: Just kidding, I like your humor

Judygram - That's cute, so excited he's shaking! Sun Conures..the Breeder has a Baby Sun too and every time we go see our Dayo, the Sun comes running and flapping over and gets right in the Middle of it :-) We were so overwhelmed by the out going personality of the Sun, that we asked the breeder to sell it to us too! But, it was already taken Richardmommoy - They may not have lips, that's why it look so funny when they bend their beak into a smile ..But I swear, the way he opens it just right, turns his head sideways with that glint in his eye, it is no doubt his facial interpretation of a human smile. Which he See's every time me or my wife walk in :-) Lidia - Now when I go visit Dayo and his Bro's and Sista's, I am going to start watching for that. That is truly amazing to me..Blushing  Grey's just keep surprizing me everyday, even though I don't have mine YET!!

Hi Talon - Yes I get up VERY early, normally around 4am.:silly: I am a classic type A personality. If I awake for just a few seconds, the Brain kicks in and starts giving me my list of things I need to worry about and do etc. I run on an average of 5 to 6 hours of sleep.... Since you are now a moderator, could you move this under Body Language? Sorry, I didn't think about posing this question under it
-
Judygram - What is the body position and how do they look? Good Morning Talon! That's a great mind picture :-) It sounds like Talon is not only smiling, but just can't stand the wait for the acknowledgement :woohoo: I think if everyone looks closely and pays attention, they will have something to add to the list of their Parrot smiling at them at times.

Verena, Another thing just occurred to me also. It sounds like your CAG's Feathers have been trimmed way too much. They should never fall straight down and as hard as you are describing if they were trimmed properly. When trimmed, your CAG should be able to fly at no less than a 20 to 30 degree angle to the ground. It sounds as though he is just falling straight down with a thud?<br><br>Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/07/07 14:31

Welcome to the Forum Verena! I can hear your distress , but I am not experienced enough to have a solution for you, other than just keeping him in his Cage so a long fall can not happen again until he is healed. The only other thing I can think of, is to get a Harness, with a short tether so if he jumps, it will stop his fall. Others here with many years of experience will answer and help you. Good Luck.

CD - LOL  Not, just the position of the Beak, but also the Star's in their eye, meaning just looking at you from one side. It's hard to explain, but I guess this fall's in to my wife's Body Language category. Our first Doberman, "Kodak" would wrinkle his nose inwards side to side and his teeth would show. If you did not know him, it looked liked he was fiercely growling without the growl :-) I guess it's something each owner would pick up on and just know, that their CAG or other Parrot is smiling in their own unique way
-
Lidia - LOL!!! :woohoo: ..I meant the Birds Age, not the Human He owns
-
I swear, sometimes when I come in after being gone a while or just from another room. My Conure has little "Stars" in his eyes (Happy Eye's) and has his Beak held about a quater inch which looks like a Smile! Do any of you think you see this in your CAG or other Parrot for that matter?

Hi Richardsmom, I have been checking out those shower perches also. They look like a good way to make them feel like they are doing something with you, instead of you doing something to them. I am beginning to suspect the misting with a spray bottle, may be perceived as "What is that scary thing they are pointing at me and shooting"? My Conure would run when he saw the spray bottle coming after I had misted him the first couple of times. So I quit doing it and let his bathing in his water bowl suffice. No I did not shoot him in the face with it either :side: But, once it became warm enough and I stumbled upon the fact, that he just LOVED the mist falling from the sky out of the hose nozzle simulating natural rain. I have continued to do this at least once a week. So it may not be the water the Grey's are afraid of, but the delivery device used.
-
It's interesting how some Greys enjoy misting and some don't. I read someplace, that a Grey Owner said his Grey loved to get down in the bottom of the Cage when He would put freshly wetted vegetable leaves of some type in there. The the grey would get down and rub himself all over against those vegetable leaves.

Here in California, in the San Joaquin Valley (middle of California) it's 109 today, tomorrow and over 105 through next week...... Swimming Pool, here I come :-)
-
I won't bother to mention the age of mine still at the Breeders :-) Well, so far it looks like people with Greys older than 18, already know everything about greys and therefore don't need to frequent forums. Also, maybe since they are over 18 years old, they don't need to check in anymore, as they are of legal age :woohoo:
-
Hi Greylover, I am hoping that once we get our CAG home, that he will enjoy it too...we'll see. Jake likes his Cage :-) But, my Dayo's (CAG) will not fit out the Sliding doors, so I'll need to take his play-stand for him. I know this area, is really "Grey's Only", but I wanted others to see outside Misters MAY be something their Grey's would like. They just put out a fine fine mist. They are the same as used in Amusement Parks in their Loooong wait lines.

Talon - I can not express my sorrow over that. It is such a shame, a moment on the Lips (writing in this case), forever in the Heart...OUCH:( Please express to Her that some of us adults still act like grade school children, which embarrasses the rest of us mature adults.. CD - Yes, it was! I have seen it twice before over the years on different Forums and it is terrible to see! Worse yet, unfortunately it affects all the users, as a few always leave over it :-(<br><br>Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/07/06 19:41

It was already 85 degrees this morning at 9am here, so I rolled Jake outside for a little bit. While there, My Wife said "Hey what do you think Jake would think or do if we turned the misters on". Well, we did and Jake loved it! I normally spray down his Cage with him in it and then shoot a fine mist in the Air and let it fall over the Cage, which Jake loves. This may be an idea for some of you that live in warmer climates. Here is a photo after Jake tired of playing in the two misters that were showering his Cage. You can make out the white Mister line along the Top Patio Header above Jakes Cage:

Richardsmommy wrote: I was calling you a turkey. Get your facts right! [Grin] Richardsmommy - LOL - I KNEW you were calling me something :silly: I could not resist the opportunity to show how people can read a few lines, then fly off with a completely off-base view and reply. While at the same time, have some Tongue in Cheek fun while doing it  Plus, it broke the previous tension I was feeling from the Flaming that resulted in this new post by the Admin (CD) and hoped it would get a few laughs out of others and release tension too :woohoo: I agreed with your post 100 percent!

That is good news NevadaJoe!! I am so happy for you that your little squirt is i good health :-)
-
Talon - No, our 2 Son's are both adults that have fledged.......but, they still don't know how much they don't know :-) Judygram - Yes, I remember DOS well. You were an early adapter to the concept of a PC in every home vision that IBM initiated. Then Bill Gates came into the picture and look where we are now :-)
-
Judygram, Yes, it makes perfect sense. The more we learn, the more we realize how little we truly know. The young did cut their teeth on technology, but only at a surface, need to know level. They don't know, how much they don't know... Anytime you need help, just PM me and I'll be happy to help.
-
LOL - Are'nt we all?
-
Richard, What do you mean before I get my Feathers ruffled, you calling me a Chicken? Also, I don't need to SLOW down to read something I completed, I have a Brain, duuuuaaaaahhhh!! Just kidding :woohoo: I couldn't resist It is an excellent post and should be heeded by all, including us mensa members <br><br>Post edited by: danmcq, at: 2007/07/06 03:11
