Hi All, I am noticing several of your photos that I can see a partial view of your various Tree and Play Stands. My Wife may kill Me :whistle: but, I would like to get a nice tree type stand for my new baby to play on when I get him home and he is coordinated enough. Could any of you direct to some you personally have via links to where you purchased or even a picture of yours? I want to purchase one that you all reccomend based upon the enjoyment your CAG or TAG gets out of it. Geoff - Thanks for that great historical background and species variation of CAG's themselves. I did a google and found the information very interesting. One thing I ran in to though, really upsets me....The way the poachers trap, handle and export these by the hundreds to (I would imagine) other countries that do not have the propective Law's we do here in the USA. It seems that 50% or so of the CAG's die from the trapping and transporting back to the "Shipping" shack they have. I am infuriated ! :angry: I wish this icon had smoke coming out of it's ears to match mine.... Anyway, I did not realize the size difference existed between area's they reside. Thanks - Dan

Hi Ceasar - Thats a good Idea. I will start on that! Hi Lidia - My Wife is 5 ft 10 inches tall, so she's not a small person. Maybe these Babies are over weight at 11 weeks and I do know she said she had just fed them about 45 minutes before we got there and she weighed them. I am not sure how ounces ounces are contained in that very large feeding syringe, but that is certainly in the weight. Thanks - Dan

From what I have read about CAG's, it seems that the Males are sometimes up to 2 inches larger and therefore also run heavier than the Females. I am not certain that this is the experience of all the users here, but thats the info I get when reading articles written by the "Professionals". Though sometimes these Pro's seem to possibly have never owned a Grey, or perhaps any other Bird, but they have the Degree and statistics they obtained from "Studies". - Dan

LOL Miltie - Thats exactly what my 5 year old Grandson tried to do yesterday!! :laugh: The cage goes from the Floor to 59 inches high and the front door which is about 3 feet long is missing the latch (which I notified the cage company of)and it just seems to say "Get in, it'll be fun"!! Fortunately we caught him before he stepped in! Then of course, my wife sent me straight to the hardware store to purchase a padlock as a temporary Door Lock :lol: - Dan

HI Beccy, I have been reading about users experience with the harness. That does seem like a good an fun item to have for safe enjoyable safe outdoor time. Does your Bird enjoy just walking about on the ground and exploring grass, flower beds etc ouside? This may be an alternative for me? If my Bird was that close to me, I could ward off a hawk perhaps if it tried to grab my Baby or would it be too late due to possible Talon penetration IF the Hawk managed to get that close before I scared him off? - Dan

Thanks Talon - I will never free fly him outside then. He will just be flighted indoors and when I take him outside in the Cage, as I do the Conure, He and the conure will be locked in their cages rather than allowed to climb on top. For all I know a Hawk would just as well snag him from the top of the cage too. I never want anything bad to happen to ANY of my animals or Birds. I sure do appreciate the great information everyone gives on this forum from their experience! :laugh: It is all invaluable!! - Dan

Hi Ceasar, A Raptor or Hawk or similar Bird would do that even if you CAG is relatively close to you?:ohmy: I live in the Central Valley of California at the base of the Sequoia National Park foothills and Hawks and Vultures are plentiful. Yes, I understand. If I feel the least bit of fear for my CAG while in the year or two process of free flying in large indoor facilities while training. I will never take him out to do so in the open spaces. I already love him too much to put him at any type of risk. - Dan

Hi All, Early on in the consideration of purchasing a CAG, I did many hours days/months of research for which Parrot would best fit our home, personalities and interests in life and nature. Thus after all that, we decided on a CAG. During this research, I stumbled upon a story of a CAG and his owner enjoying the freedom of free flying (with harness and line spool) in the natural environment. I just wanted to share his website, which is mainly images, articles and stories of how this all came about. I do understand this is the exception and not the rule for most of us, but it is something I wish and dream of obtaining in a safe and controlled manner. Hi Moddy, Sounds like my Wife and I used to get everytime we saw a new Puppy and how they just wanted attention from anyone. However, I think your discription of your time already being mostly taken by all your pets. Your Father being gone all day with evenings and weekends the only time available, may be strecthed a little then. The danger also exists of spending too much time with the new Baby and not enough with you present CAG companion that dearly loves you and wants and needs your attention. If you already think your present CAG is "High Maintenance" as you described, multiply that by two :laugh: Only you and your Father know your time available and rescheduling you could do to fit in another CAG that will want your attention also. I remove the toy's and cups, leave the perches and Parrot inside the cage (Conure, don't have my CAG YET) and roll it out on too the patio. The reason the Conure stays in, is He loves a shower. So I first spray a fine mist into the air over the Cage , let it just sprinkle down and and he just squawks, fluffs feathers, puts his head straight up and catches water drops in his beak and enjoys for about 5 mintues. Then I set the nozzle to Jet position and spray down the perches and grates from outside the cage obviously pointing the jet below the top most portion of the cage where "Jake" Stays on the highest perch. He loves then just staying out in the Sun in his cage for about an hour and just sings, preens himself and has a good time while I dry off the cage. I am not sure how tis will work with my new CAG once I bring him hme, but we'll see :-) I do this once a week. - Dan
