I have taken all new birds in for a well pet check up when I first get them. Moslty so the vet knows them and they have a record. And to make sure they have nothing to give my birds before QT is up. But unless they get sick I don't take them again. If they did not charge an arm and a let I would go every year. Joey has been three times. Que has been once. Tapaz has been once. Dandy the plucker has been a dozen or so times cause of the plucking. Budgies have never been. Doodlebug the p'let has been once right after mate passed away. Some are loader then others. I sold another of the "loud" ones last Saturday. lol I even warned them but she was a good talker too so they took her. Just have one left now. He talks too just now as much as the other two. But he did learn a new word. He now says Hello. Topaz on the other hand seems to of stopped talking. Not sure why. Only says good bird when I take her out and practice step ups.

All I know to tell you is to do what I do with my baby blues. Just keep puting him back over and over and over. Also maybe a treat bowl in the area you want him to stay. And until you have the bird more under control I suggest keeping him off the shoulder. The more you let him up there the more he well bite and it well become a learned habit. Good luck

Some just start early. My Que is a TAG she said her first words at around 9 months. She did not come to live with me till she was 6 months old. I feel had she been here as soon as she was weaned she would of started earlier. And I think maybe she would not be a closet talker too. But that ok she is my baby. Gratz on your baby saying his first words it is always so thrilling.

Day one after the QT period I am sure is what she meant. lol My birds are next to each other but they all have private out time. I have yet to get any of them to "share" the play gym. lol

Buy a bird for you. Don't worry about if the grey well "like" it. It if does that is a bonus. TAG's are great birds. But so are Quakers. Do your reseach and then go see some birds. One might just pick you. Parrots can be trained to stay off the floor. For the most part mine do unless they get spooked and take off.

What did the vet say? You should not feel like you failed sometimes parrots pluck kind of like we chew our nails. And there is not much you can do but try to slow it down. I have a plucker for the most part he does pretty well till spring then he pulls the few that can grow back. He is naked on most of his chest. Wait here he is. The legs is what he plucks these days someday they well stop growing back. All you can do is your best and try not to beat yourself up over it. :kiss:

I don't get mine online I usally get my cages when the bird fair comes to town. Hope to get a new flight cage for the budgies this year.

You can start now. I don't mist very often cause Que does not enjoy it. Can't say she hates it but she just sits there. On the other hand she really enjoys splashing around in a bowl of water. Took me 6 months to get her to do it but she now loves it. I would put the bowl in the cage a couple times a week with veggies that sink so she would have to get wet to get to them. After six months she learned to enjoy it and well really get herself wet. Some people's greys like the sink for taking a shower and some love to get in the shower. I am sure more well tell you about how they clean up their birds.

Gee Joe it's not like I don't have any bad habits and have tried to quit them. I know it is hard and I have seen my Mom go threw it. So please don't judge me and I say that with all kindness.

No data bass that I know of. Bands are so you can ID and so that breeders can keep records so they don't inbreed.

Go for it. I have never smoked but have done a lot of reading on it cause my husband is a smoker. My understanding is it takes more then once for it to stick. My mom quit four or five times and was smoke free the last year of her life and she got less sinus infections. My Grandfather one morning got up and nearly killed himself looking for a cancer stick. When he found one he just sat on the bed and looked at it and decided that he did not want to do that anymore and threw it away. Was smoke free the last 7 years of his life. My husband on the other hand has only quit once right after one of his lungs collapsed. It only lasted a year he has never tried to quit again. I would of never gone out with him if he was smoking when we met. lol He started again about 6 months after we started dating. /sigh Do it for you. Do it for your loved ones. Do it for the non smokers that don't care to die from second hand smoke. Just do it.:woohoo: Good luck
