  2. First make sure they are not sharing a cage. Second stick training is very important with P'lets. Also when is this nipping going on? P'lets are tiny and need to eat often and can get nippy if you have them away from food and water to long. They also bite when they get tired so how late at night? Could you do it early evening instead? Of if that is the time how about an hour or so later then normal one on one time. Are they both out at the same time? Maybe they are jealous? Watch what your doing and what is going on when they bite. Are they giving you any warnings? Is it because you moved to fast? Could it be someone else got to close? ect... Good luck<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/02/21 01:49
  3. OH well then you misunderstood our post. I didn't see anyone saying they where better then anyone. And we must of misunderstood your post. It can happen we can't see faces or hear tones. So sometimes things get mess up. The bottom line is we all love our birds and want to do what is best for them. I so miss candles. lol It's the only change I have maded that I miss. But I have a screened in gazabo outside now and as long as I don't have a parrot with me I can burn some. WOOT. lol<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/02/21 00:54
  4. Well I can take a guess. But I have a 50% chance of being wrong. lol And since I hate to be wrong.....
  5. Im not throwing stones. I'm just said I made a good smart choice to not risk it. There are stuff we use and that just can't be avoided but when it can be avoided why risk it? I lost 11 birds to this stuff and if I can stop one person from having to live threw that cause they thought they were perfect and would never have an accident then I don't mind stepping on someone's toes.(cause I was one of those people.) You can read my story in the other post about losing my birds. It still makes me cry to talk about it so won't retype it here. 6. How many is to many? or is there such thing. All my birds have 2 to 4 toys and then I have a box of toys that I use to change them out every 2 weeks. Usually each bird has a favorite if not at least one toy I like best that they keep at all times. I was just wondering if maybe the school of thought about not overwhelming your bird with toys has changed?<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/02/22 14:09
  7. Sorry no voting only way to know is to have Elmo DNA'd.
  8. The fact that teflon kills is not a personal opion but a fact. But you know what acceptable risk you are willing to take with your birds. I for one try to keep my risk down but making as many smart choices as possible. No teflon is one of them.
  9. Think we did this once? Anyway my TAG is around 9 years old. But I have an amazon that is extamated to be around 27ish. All we know for sure is he is wild caught. And my green quaker is 15ish. He had at least four owners before me so it is just a guess from what we do know about him. I am thinking he may be older his color is starting to fade. This happens to older birds I have noticed that are on the parrot farm where I work. Oh and this is Mama T. She is around 70 years old. She is on the farm where I work. <br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/02/19 20:44
  10. As much as I love my TAG no more pet birds for me.
  11. Yep none here. Even if you think you well never over heat one the exposer over time can also kill your parrots.
  12. Now that would be a good thread. Everyone try to get a video of their bird at its loudest. lol That was so cute. I just love babies.
  13. lol Time well fly by. Can you not go visit?
  14. I did my research but I was one of those people that thought "Oh I am careful it won't happen to me." I have seen many people with that frame of mind. I should of remembered no one is perfect and it can happen. It may not happen the first time you cook something with your birds in the house. It can happen sudden like with you or over time after being exposed to it for years. I lost 11 birds to that stuff many years ago. I threw it out. I use SS now.
  15. Ya it is unfortant. But some states did that back when birds were still imported. The birds that got loose back then could survive in the wild and eat crops and there was worry about what it would do to the native birds. And then there is the power companies having issues with the huge next quakers make. What they don't seem to relize is now days our quakers won't survive in the wild cause most are hand raised and have no clue how to be birds.
  16. This I have no clue. I always look up the ones I see at my bird feeder and this is not one of them. lol
  17. Some zoo I image. lol Still no clue just amazon. Now if the reason you asking is cause you don't know I can look it up for you.<br><br>Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/02/18 21:21
  18. Judy gave you great adive only thing I would add is you have to get use to and allow some noice a couple times a day. That is what happy birds do. They are loud. They are suppose to be loud. It is normal. Oh and move her cage into the room you are in the most. Mine are all in my living room. This well help her not yell for you if you spend more time with her. Good luck and
  19. So great it all worked out. Never have parties at my house and rarely have guest. So could not be any help but so glad others could help you out.
  20. Well ok next week Ill let you all start entering photos again. Get you clicker fingers ready and start looking for some good poses of those barnyard birds. Remember it must be you photo. And if you won the last one I ask you don't enter this one to give others a chance. Thank you
  21. I make the banner with my Paint shop pro. I from time to time well make sig tags for members. If you would like a custom one. Just send me email at tariangie@bellsouth.net with pictures and colors you like and what names to put on it and I'll see what I can do. I have made a few for others here like these. Oppse so sorry back to the topic. Glad you all likey your banner.
  22. I am sorry I know little about Nandays but I do know something about conures and have met some really mean ones as well as really sweet ones. One thing I would suggest is go ahead and do a wing clip. It well not add to her stress any more then you seem to stress her. It well grow back but it might help you gain her trust is she has to depend on you to move her around. It sounds to me like her problems are more about her being passed around like unwanted baggage. Going from home to home is stressfull on parrots. She really needs a forever home to help her work back some of her issues. I hope I have helped. Judy or someone with a conure might have better ideas for you.
  23. This is so great. I am so thrilled for you. :woohoo:
