Lidia, 18 is not old for a grey and I don't think they are ever too old to learn new things. But if you can get that on video we will all line up to view it, I'm sure, very funny, very funny indeed.
Don't apologize for the posts, I don't care how many it takes just as long as something is done about this. Yes if you can find some kind of local animal rescue organization they would help you I'm sure of it. Keep at it, heatherstrella, these little guys are depending on you and you have my karma tonight, you deserve it.
Probably so beccy, they pick up on so much.
HeatherStrella, soon you will forget she was what you thought was a he but Harrison is a good name so why not keep it and how are things going now with HER?
Now I hadn't thought of that, just like a kid that wants to play with whatever is forbidden. Pens and inexpensive too, wonderful idea, thanks, Blidner.
I'm a little stunned too, but I wouldn't worry too much, just keep an eye on her and if you feel something is not right, take her to a vet for your own peace of mind.
Don't worry about how many times you post, there is no set limit, just ask if you have a question and chime right in if you have some advice you want to share with us, we want to help each other.
I have given my Josey a chicken bone too, but she is fond of throwing things off the cage top so it landed on the floor. She enjoys a little chicken too, also turkey, pheasant and dove.
Maybe you can ask around and find out who else you can contact to file a complaint, maybe a humane society or something. I think I would put myself there in their store and let everyone know who comes in to see the deplorable conditions and would they purchase a bird from them. Put pressure on them to clean up their act. These kind of situations are what make me sick to my stomach, but most people would just say, well they are just animals. I know what I would like to do to them and I am not by myself either.
My Josey will stand on top of the scale without the stand, she was a little skeptical at first but now I have no problem, so don't worry about having to have a stand for them.
I have still to try the aviator harness on Josey, but if I am successful I won't use a longer leash because we have hawks here too, I have seen them in the trees out here. I would be devastated if something happened to her, I would never forgive myself.
You got that right, CD, I wish the owners would have to live in the same exact conditions and see how long they would last. This breaks my heart to see things like this and that there would be people who would do such a thing.
Keep on this HeatherStrella, we are behind you on this, we want to see these birds in a better situation, now.
Josey does not care much for grapes, which I could care less about since not much nutritional value in them.
Sorry Deborah that you started out with too much attention, now you have to keep it up or suffer the consequences.
Beautiful babies, especially week 10 with all those there in that pic. You really should blog them like CD said we would love to follow the emerging of a new greys start in life.
Are you having trouble getting your grey into a travel cage, Ubecrew610? I have not had that trouble and mine goes into it and she knows she is going somewhere, I take her to work occasionally. You need to try to get her used to it, make it fun, offer her a treat or something she likes real well. Don't use it only for vet visits, she will associate it with that and will not want to go in.
As long as he allows the bird to learn to fly and land before he clips, otherwise you will have to allow the feathers to grow out and allow it flight.
But it still boils down to personal preference.
Things can get pretty testy when the hormones get to raging, if it is anything like we humans. I know the greys will act somewhat differently and it will be a trying time for them and us. Not looking forward to it but will weather it when it happens.
I hope my Josey doesn't pick up any new sounds while she stays at the sitters. She has lots of birds, including cockatoos, loud cockatoos and other birds, Josey will scream like them I am afraid. I can't wait to get her back, I missed her so.
But he couldn't have been in better hands than yours because of your love for birds and life and I think I know how you feel but he died in loving hands, that is more than most. Thank you CD for your simple act of kindness, just one of the many reasons why I love you so much.{Love-0002012D}
