  1. Thanks for the ideas, more heads are better than one.
  2. I haven't a clue and my hubby does not know either and he is a big hunter of ducks, geese and turkeys. Maybe someone else knows. But it is definately a duck.
  3. Pink toenail, interesting, you will have to post a photo for us to see.
  4. Hey don't apologize for that, I'm sure you are wise beyond your years, and sometimes I feel like a kid but they are getting few and far between now. As CD keeps reminding me I am older not old.:side:
  5. I miss them too, but we are reliving them in the pictures posted here of other's babies. Beccy I hope they don't grow out of it either, we all appreciate the closeness we share with our birdies.
  6. Babies, just babies at 21, you have a lot of living to do yet.
  7. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, thats so sweet, Josey will come to me usually at night before bed and sit on my chest and lay her head down and I will stroke her all over. Its these kind of moments that are so precious to us and I am glad you shared yours with us. Oh and by the way for the original question, Josey's tongue is black.:ohmy:
  8. Well if you think you can win being the youngest maybe I can win for the oldest.:lol: I love that emoticon:cheer:
  9. What a beautiful baby there Geoff, I love when they are babies and looks like you will be bringing home very soon. Thanks for sharing these with us, your smile should be very wide right now.{Feel-good-00020114}
  10. I may be one of the oldest and proud of it at 57. Now you started this Michael, you are a baby at 21, but I know for a fact we have younger.:silly:
  11. Well patience is a virtue so I am told and that is what you need most right now, it takes time to change him over to a loving bird, but once the bond is formed you will see a difference and you will be rewarded with an amazing animal. Those of us that got our greys as babies have it a little easier to set up the bond but it will just take a little longer for an older bird to adjust, but it will happen I assure you. Keep us informed and good luck to you.
  12. Hi Imran, I will try to answer questions if I can. 1. If the iris is yellow he might be a little older than 12 months, my grey is 13+ months and hers are more cream color, sounds more like a 2 year old or older. 2. Untill he gets used to you he won't eat from your hand, give it a little time, it will happen. 3. You need to get him off the sunflower seeds as a regular diet, they are ok for a treat but he needs a good quality pellet and a variety of vegetables and fruits. This will have to be a gradual process and I think we already have a thread that deals with that. 4. This is normal to puff up, he is not used to you yet, it takes time to form a bond and for him to trust you so go slow and it will happen in time, don't push for more before he is ready. 5. It is perfectly normal for them to be climbing all over the cage and such, even hanging upside down from it, is good excersize for them. 6. He will eventually come out on his own, he feels a little scared right now and wants the safety of the cage but with a little time he will come out, you can try giving him a treat to entice him though. 7. Grinding is normal, most all birds do this, usually before they go to sleep. Sounds like you have a normal grey, but you need to work on his diet, only sunflower seeds is not healthy for him. Hope this helps and keep us informed on your progress. Get us a photo of him if you can, we love looking at other's greys and maybe it will answer the question of age.
  13. I think it is a chance for rain here too, but I meant I was not going anywhere to watch them, I am out in the country so would have to travel some to get to where they are being put off. Not much incentive to go when I have to be back at work tomorrow, now next year the 4th will be on Friday since 2008 is a leap year, so I will find some to watch. But I hope you see plenty tonight Melissa, and enjoy.{Holidays-0002010D}
  14. You are right again, Lidia, they would feel vulnerable in that position, but I am working on getting Josey to lay on her back in my hand without much success at this point. My conure will do it but not Josey.
  15. Well at a little over a year he is not a baby baby but a baby nonetheless, considering they have a long lifespan. Too early for the male-instinct thing you mentioned, but for a lot of us here we have grey at about the same age so when puberty starts the real fun begins for us, I hear it can be a very trying time for them and us. Hope we live thru it.:laugh:
  16. I'm sure you will teach Dayo the banana boat song too, if you do make a video we would love to hear it.:laugh:
  17. Josey was fully weaned when I got her and she has never done the hand feeding motions to me, thank goodness, now on the other hand my sun conure sometimes backs up to me when she is on my shoulder. Have been told that was masturbation, holy cow, I discourage that too.
  18. You are right 13 weeks is too early for a first molt. I suspect something else is going on and until you figure it out watch out for the beak.
  19. He's going thru the hand feeding motions, you do have a baby don't you?
  20. Also leaving the radio or TV on covers up other sounds that they might hear and frighten them during the day.
  21. I have the red one too, but I wanted the purple one but were out of it. I am fond of purple but the red does match the tail feathers doesn't it, now I am glad I got the red.
  22. I think you are doing the right thing Beccy, I allow Josey on my shoulder and she has nibbled my nose but does not bite. A lot of people will say not to allow them on the shoulder but it is a personal preference and I choose to do so. Lidia that is some very good advice you gave, I need to copy it and save it for future reference, thanks for sharing the info, I know you have helped more than just me.
  23. Now that is unusual for the grey to go lower down, Josey heads for my shoulder but my conure will get down on my lap sometimes when I am at the computer, I guess she likes being under the pull out for the keyboard.:laugh:
  24. Could be he prefers it in the dish and not hanging but keep working at it, I'm sure he will come around in time.:laugh:
  25. I have 2 birds, the grey and a sun conure. I don't know if they are company for each other but if you have some toys in the cage with the grey and rotate them on a regular basis then your grey should be ok. I leave mine for at least 9 hours a day during the work week, but she is fine with it, I leave the radio on for company but some here leave the TV on or a bird dvd running while they are gone. They are adaptable to our being gone for periods of time. But yes most of us suffer from MBS, we love having more than one.
