1. I think you made a very good trade, and that day is coming when you can bring him home, I know all too well that it seems to take forever. Hang in there, it is almost over.
2. Probably the only fireworks I will see today.:unsure:

Breeders

I'm in Eagle Rock, Virginia and I got my grey from a breeder in Covington, VA. It was not hatched there but somewhere else where they specialize in greys but my breeder friend fed her out until she was weaned. She usually deals with conures, budgies and such but is experienced with all kinds of birds, her house is full of a menagerie of different species. She is a bird lover above all else and cares deeply for each one. She was about 45 to 50 minutes from me so I could visit my little one to watch her progress. I had already purchased a sun conure from her and when I told her I was interested in a grey she contacted the grey breeders and got her for me. I paid $900 for her and she is the sweetest thing and worth every penny. I also take Josey to her to board while I go on vacation or have to leave her for a few days, like I did last weekend. She makes sure your bird is weaned before she lets you bring it home and I respect her for that, it was something I was not comfortable with. So my bird is VA born and raised like me. Looking forward to hearing the others stories on this subject.
4. CD a nurse, give me a break, no really he could not make it as a nurse he couldn't handle the emotional aspect of it. He is a caring, compassionate man who would do anything for you and only asks for a simple thank you in return. He is a rarity among men, but I know of another.{Love-000200BF}
5. Vary what you put on it and maybe something will please him enough to eat it off and then you will have no more problem. They can be peculiar about things.
6. Definately not a budget bird :laugh: but one you will enjoy for a long time. Do your reading and research and if you decide a grey is for you then we will be here to help you any way we can. And welcome to the forum and our family, Joe, we look forward to your decision and keep us informed.
7. Hello Trina and welcome to our family. Congrats on your new grey, you are in for an unforgetable experience, a ride of a lifetime and they are so much fun as you are finding out. Maybe you will get to try the harness before me, I got mine several weeks ago but haven't had the chance to try it yet, planning to this coming weekend.
8. I want to be the first to wish everyone here on this forum a Happy Fourth of July. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with your family and friends. This is a wonderful country we live in and we should be thankful for all the freedoms we enjoy. Have fun but don't overdo it, don't take risks with your life or the lives of your loved ones today. Cherish your spouses, love your children and spoil your grandchildren today and every day for the rest of your life. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful day and be back on the forum to exchange advice, stories and photos. I enjoy chatting with all of you and care about each and every one of you here. May we all be a happy healthy family here for a very, very long time. Judy{Holidays-0002010C}{Holidays-0002010D}{Holidays-0002010E}{Holidays-0002010F}
9. I haven't tried this with my grey but when I take a nap on the weekends I take my sun conure with me. She will stay on my shoulder or get on the pillow beside me and be quiet as a church mouse, she does not even take a dump, she waits until I get up and then she cuts loose.:laugh:
10. Nature can be very cruel and these kinds of things happen all the time so you have to not dwell on it or it will eat you alive with grief and frustration.
11. Well there is the something new to learn today, they do favor the dinasaur structurely.
12. This ones for you, Penny {Nature-000200C9}
13. I haven't worked a lot at teaching Josey any tricks, I should, you never know I might have another Einstein on my hands, yeah right.{Characters-0002005C}
14. Josey does too, but she only has 1 of them, boings that is, will have to get another one and hang it somewhere she can play on it.{Feel-good-000200BB}

Grapes!!

Now that would be fun to do, take your grey grocery shopping, let them pick out what they like.
16. Me too, who knows what else we have to learn that is here right under our noses.{Nature-000200C9}
17. Funny I haven't eaten any since I came home, took some of it to the grandson, probably take some to work, lord only knows I don't need it, but I WANT it.
18. Well there is a lot of good, very little bad and I don't think there is an ugly on the site. Now you know you cannot replace your son but you can get a companion that will use up some of that space and time you used to lavish on your son, I think they call it the empty nest syndrome.:laugh:
19. Yes FairY, I have seen the video of Einstein, that is truly amazing what that bird knows to say, it is obvious a lot of time has gone into teaching that bird all those phrases and sounds and when to say them. We could do the same with our birds, but it takes a lot of time to do that and most of us don't have that kind of time. Very intertaining piece to watch.:cheer:
20. Look over anything started by CeaserDad, he is the expert here on blogs, especially the one he did when he went to Hawaii, beautiful photos in that one.
21. They are just like a 2 year old child, can you handle that Francine?

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/07/06 18:35
22. I know Penny, I know. I'm having a memory lapse.{Emotions-000200B8}
23. I promise to get mine out this weekend and try it, I have not had the chance for the last few weekends.
24. Hey it works doesn't it, does not matter what it looks like as long as Capt Jack enjoys it. But I look forward to seeing the BIG NICE one too.:silly:
25. You are doing the right thing to research whether or not a grey is for you. I personally think they should not be taken from the breeder until they are weaned, I know some of the members here are feeding theirs yet but I don't recommend it. I don't know enough about it to feel comfortable with it. Most greys will talk but a few will not so it is not a quarantee that they will. Some greys will feather pluck but it is usually some reason why they do it. You can add a grey to your family even if you have another bird, I have a sun conure that is jealous of the grey but I spend quality time with each and I haven't had a problem with it. A grey is an awesome creature and if that is what you want then you will not be disappointed. If you want to ask any further questions feel free to ask, we are here to help you any way we can. Oh and by the way welcome to the forum and our family of friends. :) :) :) :) :)
