  1. You got that right, when you have them on your shoulder you have to keep the mouth shut or they will try to get inside to investigate those white things and that fat round looking object.{Feel-good-0002006E}
  2. Mark, how is the search for the owner coming along, have you found out anything yet? I'm just curious to know if you have yourself a new little budgie or whether you just made someone else very happy. Let us know what happens.
  3. We are not neccessarily trying to talk you out of another bird if that is what you want, but we have seen too many instances of where someone that got a bird and then had to turn around and rehome it. We like to avoid that if at all possible and that means you need to be sure before you committ to getting one.
  4. But the dream come true is an impossible wish so therefore it is just a figment of your imagination. I wish we could start a new thread, "The Dream Comes True"
  5. That was too funny, Talon, but I can't see the picture.

    fruit pot!

Now what was this thread about, oh right, a fruit pot. We kind of got sidetracked there but I am going to get this back on track. Fruits are well and good but there should be more veggies than fruits given to our greys.
  7. I loved that Mr Spock, its nice to see you have a sense of humor, but we caught another man in our thread, girls.
  8. We are talking about the moths that get into a lot of foodstuffs and the larvae they leave behind. A lot of the members here put their foods they buy for their birds, namely the seeds, nuts and such, into the freezer to stop any infestation they may already have in them. You can leave smaller portions in the fridge for more immediate use. I hope this helps, these bugs are common in most places and we bring them in a lot of times in the foods we buy, expecially for our animals.
  9. Has he always done this clicking noise as long as you have had him? If so, it is probably the noise they all make, mine does a clicking sound but I don't find it annoying. I'm sure they all do it, but you are sensitive to it just like the rest of us find something in particular annoying to us. You will just have to find a way to deal with it, for I don't see him stopping it. I am sorry it annoys you but I don't know what else to tell you.
  10. We are a friendly bunch of people, and we welcome each new member with open arms, so to speak, so don't be shy and ask us any questions, we are here to help. So you have a website yourself? What is it and what is it about if you don't mind my asking?
  11. Welcome to the family, Gareth, glad you joined. So you are thinking of getting a grey, how wonderful, you won't be disappointed, they are beautiful creatures. If neither one of you has ever had one before, I would do a lot of reading and thinking before actually committing to getting one. Once you get it there is no turning back, and it is a lifelong committment, they live to be 50+ years. We have a wealth of information here on this site, feel free to read thru the threads for lots of useful help in finding out whether this is the right choice for you and your mate. And if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask us anything, we will do our best to answer those. Again, welcome to the family, and we do consider ourselves a second family, we care about our greys and each other here, you won't find a better bunch of caring people than us.
  12. Poof, a magic genie comes along and grants that wish to me and I am enjoying every minute of it then I wake up and realize it was only a dream. I wish Dan would quit corrupting my wishes.
  13. But suddenly a huge bear decides to come along and take that salmon from your hand and in the process he takes you with it, goodbye Dan. I wish I was laying on a white sand beach, a margarita in hand, with my lover by my side watching the sun set.

    fruit pot!

{Feel-good-0002006E} Now this is something I can really laugh at, I wish you could see me now, rolling around on the floor laughing my cheeks off. You must have scared Kim to death, and I would have probably done the same thing. Thanks Dan, for sharing this story with us, it made me laugh and I know it will others too, I can always count on you for a good one.
  15. It is a cute little budgie isn't it, and I am glad you were able to catch it. It was very lucky to have come to your backyard, maybe it knew a bird lover was near. Looks like it might indeed have mites, that cere does look a little crusty. If it doesn't get too hot in the garage I would suggest you just keep it there to avoid the mites getting into the house and onto Kip. But first you have to scour the neighborhood to see if someone has lost it and find its owner and then and only then can you claim it for yourself. But I have my fingers crossed if you want to keep it, I wouldn't blame you a bit. Let us know if you find its owner or whether you have a new little yellow budgie.
  16. But even though you have all your fruits of every kind, it is full of worms, bugs and every imaginable fungus and rot that exists so it is unedible. I wish I had a freezer full of butter pecan ice cream.
  17. Tracy brings up good points to consider, if your wife is hesitant to handle one grey, what is it going to be like with two. Your grey does not need another grey to keep it company, you are his company, his flock but if you just want another bird then that is ok in itself, but more than likely they won't get along, and you certainly cannot put them in the same cage. You need to think on this some more but when you do decide please let us know, we want to help you any way we can.
  18. Yeah that would have been a good photo opportunity, Mark chasing around a little bird around trying to catch it. If you don't find the owner then you have yourself a cute little budgie, Mark, so enjoy it, but do the QT first.
  19. I give Josey kisses too, and as she is still a baby at 15 months, I feel it is still a safe bet. She has never bitten me so far, but soon she will assert her independence more and I may have to assess the situation then and make adjustments. But thanks Tracy, for bringing up this subject, it is an important one to consider, and one some of us haven't thought about much, but I guess we should for not one of us wants the kind of scar that a real nasty bite could leave us with.
  20. Connie, that is the best one yet, I love it. Of course all of them are funny but this one takes the cake or should I say the finger. Keep up the good work, Connie.
  21. Well sometimes the truth hurts, right girls? I am gonna have to dig around in my vault and find a few good ones I know I have stored. This is gonna be a good thread for us girls.
  22. Yes thanks Dan, for the information, I did buy some unsalted peanuts in the shell, human grade, but Josey does not care for them. Maybe I will offer them out of the shell and see if she takes to them better. We can always count on you for this type of investigating and reporting to us when we need it, thanks for the good work, Dan, this is why I love ya.
  23. Josey does not care for almonds, how odd.
  24. Talon, I am shocked, you know this is a family forum, but you took the words right out of my mouth.
