  1. Its almost like it was fate that stepped in and he definitely chose you, thats for sure. I am glad it has worked out so well for you and Olly. Doesn't it make you feel so special to have them chose you when he had bitten others before you came along. Well now that he has spoken his first work, he won't shut up now and he will be adding to his vocabulary every day, wow I know you are excited, and we are excited for you.
  2. I would have to say cheddar cheese is Josey's favorite food and my sun conures too. I give it sparingly but they do seem to go nuts over it as soon as the bag comes out of the fridge. BTW, I love this photo you posted, looks like they are checking each other out, thanks for sharing that with us.
  3. Thanks for the post, Lovemybird, glad to hear from someone who has used one, I must admit I was a little skeptical of them at first. And since you keep your house on the cool side it probably helps Zuri, but most of us have our houses a little warmer and I don't think they would be necessary for us. I'm glad to hear they do work properly, that was a concern that they would get too hot but apparently they don't get that warm to be hot to touch. Be sure to keep us informed if anything changes with the perch or how Zuri uses it, we want to know.

    fruit pot!

Well thats awfully nice of you, Dan, and I think I will do just that. So there I cut you some slack, I can be nice when I want to, but it helps to have someone be nice to me first. Here's hoping you find that jam because I am gonna be disappointed if you don't, but don't worry you won't lose any friendship over it if you don't find it. You are a kind and generous man and I appreciate that. Kim is a lucky woman and you tell her I said that will ya.
  5. Some good ones are quinoa, spelt, buckwheat, groats, rice, barley, kamut, sesame, mung, radish, adzuki, garbanzo, green peas and lentil to name some. I am gonna give sprouts another chance, maybe I didn't do it right the first time.
  6. They sound kind of robotic like when they first start talking but then it comes in clearer and you can hear the words more distinctly. Josey does a good wolf whistle, which was the first thing she mastered, my hubby made sure of that. But the words will come, Klaus has plenty of time to start talking.
  7. Thermo heated perches are not necessary unless your grey has been diagnosed with something like arthritis that heat helps to ease the discomfort. If you keep your grey in the heated living spaces of your house you would not need any heated perches.
  8. Thats right he didn't care, he knew his name was Annabelle and came when that name was called, and your grey will be the same way, he will still answer to Klaus if that is what you have been calling him, so why change it if you find out he is indeed a she. I would just leave it as it is, unless you just want to change it, but Klaus may have other ideas.
  9. Now neck scratches are something else, they usually love them, but being patted on top of the head they usually don't.
  10. And those charms, they help too.B)
  11. Talon has given you some sound advice, but also make slower movements, children tend to be very active and make sudden movements and that tends to make them nervous, and therefore bite. Go easy and slower and offer something that he loves to eat and maybe it will eventually pay off in fewer or no bites.
  12. Be sure to post that picture if you capture it, that would be hilarious to see. Jazz knows a good thing when he sees it and Roxy gets a kick out of it too I'm sure.
  13. Go easy on the peanut butter, has a lot of fat that they don't need. On a funny note, have you ever given some peanut butter to a dog and watch them try to get it out of their mouth, they will contort their tongue all around trying to get that stuff out.
  14. Aw Mark, you just use your masculine charms and I'm sure she will come around in no time. You are such a sweet and nice guy that no female could resist for long. Small but petite but she is a cutie for sure and I assume you haven't had any luck in finding her former home, which is great news for you. You keep us posted of her progress and be sure to share any new stories about her adventures as the new member of your flock.
  15. Well at least it was because he was going off balance and not just to bite him, I know it hurts even though he tried to take it like a man. Maybe when Dayo gets more confident in perching, Jeff can shoulder him again.
  16. Very impressive Dave, and you being a handyman and all, I wish I lived nearby and I could be one of those friends too. But I have these kinds of things around where I live but getting them together for a playstand is the hard part. My hubby is so busy with other things he does not have time for making me one or two. But thanks for sharing this idea with us, maybe some of us will be able to get some of these made since you posted a photo to show how they look.

    fruit pot!

You know what this means if he finds that jam and sends it to us, we will owe him something, I think we need to put our heads together and talk about this, what do you think?
  18. Think you are crazy for doing that, no way, it is a good way to keep an eye on him, you would probably be surprised at how many people do that sort of thing all the time, and it is easy with all the new technology out there today.
  19. Yes they do Dan, and have you noticed that when they are eating a piece and are holding it in their talon, if you go over to them they will drop it right now, I don't think they like an audience when they eat.
  20. I have seen them on pet store sites and considered getting one, but my hubby is fond of using the fireplace in the family room where Josey's cage is and it gets warm enough for her. But if you want to get one and try it then go ahead, you can let us know how good it works.
  21. You try it and I'll try it and we will compare how it turns out, ok Dan? B)
  22. It kind of makes you wonder if any of those kind of people are lurking on this site, they could be anywhere.
  23. But stop they do and you never have another rain and the ground dries out and eventually becomes a desert and nothing will grow. I wish we could have some of that rain.
  24. It might not be a bad idea to have he/she DNA sexed so you will know if you need to worry, that is the problem with females, they might want to nest or lay eggs. But until then, let him have the boxes to enjoy.
  25. But Dan you do not have a funny bone in your body, so therefore the "funny car" is the demolition car instead and you get banged up good. I wish I could sing like a bird.
