1. Good idea, Talon, she seems to enjoy the tearing up of boxes, so that way she can still do that but not feel like it is a place to hide.
2. The previous posts give you some good information, you should check them out. Why don't you start a new thread in the welcome room and introduce yourself and your grey. We would like to hear a little more about you. You can also post a picture of your grey if you'd like.
3. Thanks to both of you, but especially Tracy for an excellent thread, very valuable information for all of us grey owners.
4. Thats an awful lot of questions, Kitty, I think the more you ask the more questions you find to ask. I am not complaining but jeez, give us a break here. I will answer some of them. Josey's cage is a split level with a playtop on one side, I bought it at a bird fair. She likes to play with bells and things that make noise. Her favorite food is cheddar cheese, and she won't eat her greens. She is clipped but I am letting her feathers grow out at the moment. I plan on using the harness to take her out. She is DNA sexed as a female and she is talking some now, and does a very good wolf whistle. She is out of her cage most of the evening on her playstand, she has several, and I usually give her about half an hour of one on one time. Like most greys, she is afraid of new things, and takes flight at sudden noises. Thats all I have at the moment, Kitty, maybe I will add some later.
5. Should have known Josh couldn't stay out, well you are one of the ones I would allow, you are so cute and all.
6. Chinchilla dust, I have never heard of it, but I think I will check it out. Thanks for the information on this product, guys.
7. Well be sure to update us on what you find out, we are anxious to know, we get excited about our members getting a new bird. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask us anything, we will do our best to give you an answer. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
8. I think most of us are kissers, who isn't, you just can't resist those sweet little birds beaks. And as long as we just allow them touching the dry part of the lips, it is safe enough. But these lips don't touch dog lips, yuck. Thats good advice, Trina, washing your hands before handling your bird, something we should all do perhaps.
9. Yes you really should get a gram scale for daily weighing, that way you get accustomed to what her normal range is and if there is a significant drop in weight then something may be wrong. You are not neurotic, you are just a concerned mother to your baby, and no one faults you for that. But you take care of yourself too and get over that cold so you can enjoy life. On another note, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey. What is her name, how old is she and how long have you had her, things like that. You can also post a picture of her if you have one, we love photos here.
10. I am glad you are taking all this criticism in stride, we are looking out for your best interests and of the potential bird you want to add. If you have any other questions you want to ask, please just ask, the more information you have the better to make your decision about whether or not to get another bird. And you are not insane, or all of us would be, we are just bird lovers, pure and simple.
11. Hey Toni, you go girl, you are 44 and your boyfriend is 30, no wonder you feel like 25, you definitely go girl. Dennis, you sound like you have an active lifestyle, lots of sports, good for you.
12. I was kind of thinking the same thing, Tracy, sounds like some kind of nesting behavior. But the picture is priceless, Spooky, you have another contest winner in that one, and I would probably be passed out myself if that had been Josey. LOL. Thanks so much for sharing this picture and story with us, after the initial fright, it was just too funny.

fruit pot!

Way to go Tracy, I love those little emoticons, oh no, I have gone off topic again. The fruit pot, good tuity fruity.
14. Oh that is wonderful news, Mark, I know you care for this little bird a lot now and I hope you do get to keep her. And like Talon said, it was fate that brought that little budgie to your yard, you were meant to give her a home. Let us know what you plan to name her, it must be something special for she is a special bird, a real find.

Help!!!

He took a licking but he is still kicking, its funny but I don't think it will do him any harm, just keep an eye on him for the next few days. You could put a call into a vet's office and ask about it, they might know if you need to be concerned. Better keep those markers out of his reach from now on.
16. Aw, come on now Mr. Spock, you can do better than that.
17. :woohoo:  :woohoo:  :woohoo:
18. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter and her problems, so don't worry about the gyms, she is what is important, family is every thing. That is so sweet of her to make you come home and post, give her my best wishes for a speedy recovery. And thanks for posting a photo, you are a very nice looking man and your daughter is lovely. Keep us informed and hope she is home soon.
19. Welcome to the family, Bridtown, glad you joined our forum, I know you will love it here. Glad you could help out with the adoption of your friend's grey, sounds like you are doing a good job already. She sounds like a real sweetie. We look forward to hearing more about Mitzy and please post a photo if you have one, we love to admire each others greys. Feel free to ask us any questions you may have, we will do our best to answer.:cheer:
20. Yes, Sara, he is just being a parrot, and that is what parrots do is make all kinds of clicking noises and imitating other household sounds. Maybe it won't be so irritating to you now that you know it is normal for them to make these sounds.
21. Thanks for the update, Mark, I know on one hand you want to find her owner, but yet I think you hope you don't, in any case you are taking good care of her. Its hard to tell how far she has come, she may be miles away from her home, so you may have to widen your search area. And the owners may have resigned themselves to the fact that when she flew away she was gone and never to be seen again.

Post edited by: judygram, at: 2007/08/27 03:18
22. Tari, they probably thought you were so busy with all the orders coming in that they would wait until later, you think? If you want one, now is the time, she might not honor your request later.
23. I guess I need to keep giving them to Josey and maybe she will eventually try them, but Sunny loves macadamia nuts and Josey throws them out.
