  1. I personally cover Josey at night but then I always have from the time I brought her home and she is used to being covered at night. Since Klaus was alarmed when you tried to cover him, it is best not to cover since it frightened him as he is not used to it. It is just a matter of personal preference, some here do and some don't, there is no right or wrong. As long as he sleeps ok without it then that is what you should continue to do. I like covering Josey's cage with a sheet at night as she is in the family room and goes down for the night before we do and once I cover her I don't hear a peep out of her until I uncover her in the morning. So you are doing nothing wrong, if Klaus is ok with it then it is ok for you, forgetaboutit.
  2. Welcome to the family, Laurie, we are glad you joined the forum. Thats an unusual name, Klaus, but I like it, and I remember that movie, one of Jim Carrey's best. Klaus is not talking yet, I assume, but he does a good wolf whistle, so does my Josey, my hubby saw to that. I'm sure in time he probably will, Josey was about 1 year old before she said her first word. Some talk sooner and some later but the robotic sounds and jibberish are first. Josey also prefers me over anyone else, but she is my bird, she tolerates my hubby, but she won't go to anyone but me. If you have a picture of Klaus please post it for us to enjoy, we love pictures of our greys, and feel free to brag a little if you wish, we do. If you have any questions please feel free to ask, we will try our best to answer those and help you in any way we can.
  3. Yes please check on that, Penny.
  4. Penny is the best friend another girl could have.
  5. Thanks for the reminder, Penny, sometimes we get busy with posting and don't remember to write something in the guest book of our members especially our friends. Three lashes with a wet noodle.
  6. Melissa is nice, opps, can't say that, sorry. Let me start again. Melissa is a very smart girl for 14 years of age, but then she has a good Mama.

    fruit pot!

Sorry this is off topic too, but no there is no one there for me, but they are cute. Back on topic, no I have never tried cactus fruit, what is it by the way?
  8. Very happy indeed, Mark, I can tell.
  9. Boy I tell you, we don't need any grey books here, all we need are our members posting about the needs of our greys and we have all the information laid out for all of us to enjoy. We have an excellent resource here in our members, just ask and they will provide.
  10. And once they get used to getting on the scale, its just a real quick thing to do it and keep tabs on their weight.
  11. Just run out to the field and pick you some for Talon, you like running don't ya Penny. That way you can do a two for one deal something good for you and for Talon.
  12. Tracy, that is some very good information to know, thanks for sharing these facts with us, most of us don't know how the pellets are made, but now we do.
  13. But that is impossible because everyone is an individual and therefore different from one another and we all know conflict is what makes us bad. I wish I would just shut my mouth and be quiet for a while.
  14. Thats exactly what you should put in an ad for a found bird, because you are right, people will try to claim it for their own. That Mark, he is so lucky to have found this budgie, and he knows it.
  15. I found one almost 40 years ago, now it is time for another. And none of them are trained or perfect unless they are perfect idiots.
  16. You got that right, Toni, and they do it because they can.      I just pucker up and kiss away, Josey and Sunny that is, not anything else.
  17. A live broadcast from the hospital, just don't show the surgery itself, I couldn't take that, just kidding, I know you would not do that. I hope it is over soon and JoJo is back home in no time, but we will be thinking of her Wednesday morning.
  18. Excellent post, Dave, you explain it very nicely. Welcome to the family, Oliver, and thanks for taking in this grey. As an experienced bird owner I am sure you are doing everything necessary to make this bird a part of your flock and he will settle in and the bonding will take place. If the bird talked before, chances are it will talk again but not until it is comfortable in its surroundings. Just continue with what you are doing now and in time I am sure you will be rewarded with his speech. Post us a picture of Olly if you have one, we would love to see him.
  19. That will work, Lovie, but a reinfestation will occur if you bring something home from the store with them in it again.
  20. Tari, that was funny, really very funny, thanks for the laugh.
  21. Dan, have you ordered any palm nuts yet? I am curious about these nuts.
  22. Very nice informative post, Dan, we can always count on you for the explanation. Keep up the good work.
  23. Josey is not the one who poops on me all the time, its Sunny, she spots my shirts all the time, I think she plans it.
  24. Check the condition of the breeders place, is it clean and sanitary looking. Is the cages and places where the babies are clean looking. I think the others pretty much covered the basic questions.
  25. I think you hit the nail on the head, Talon, just say something and they will do the opposite.
