1. Now that he is talking, you won't be able to shut him up.
2. Well that is about right, my Josey did not say a word until she was around a year old, some talk sooner, some later. She will start saying more as time goes on, and one day you will probably wish she would shut up. They do love to mimic common sounds from around the house.
3. Sounds good to me, but if she wins the lottery, you won't have to take your pans, just buy some more when you get there. With all that money, surely she can get you some pans, and pay our way over to celebrate, we could go first class. So Tracy, be sure to buy that lottery ticket, you can't win without it, and I have my fingers crossed that yours is the winning ticket. You go girl.
4. Laurie, I am a big fan of Stephen King's novels, I think I have read pretty much all of them, I like Dean Koontz, John Saul, Clive Barker, Robin Cook and Patricia Cornwell as well. I don't read much anymore, no time too since I am on here all the time, but I used to read every evening before going to bed. Now I know some would say "how can you read such stuff before going to bed", well it was easy, it never bothered me, I knew it was fiction.
5. Tari has given you some sound advice, and she should know, she has several different kinds of birds plus her grey. I wouldn't try to give the bird away, you can manage with both of them, you just have to be more careful and do what Tari suggested and they can co exist in the same room but not on each other's cage.
6. If you learn how to recognize the signals that they are about to take a dump, you need to take them to where you would prefer they do it and say a word that they can associate with the job and tell them to do it. I trained my grey to use a trash can and I hardly ever have her dump on me, now my sun conure is another thing. I believe we have a thread here that deals with this very subject, you should check it out.

Post edited by: Talon, at: 2007/09/02 02:54
7. You two are something else, when you win Tracy, you provide the drinks and Joe will bring the food and how about I come and help you celebrate. I'll even help you breed and raise greys, how about that. I know off topic, 20 lashes with a wet noodle, I can't help it sometimes.
8. Don't try to pick her up, put your hand in front of her and move it close to her body and ask her to step up on your hand. She is probably a little stressed being in a new place, new home. Entice her to come out of her cage by offering her a treat, she is a little scared right now and prefers the safety of her cage. You won't know for sure whether you have a male or female unless you have a DNA test done, thats the only true test of sex.
9. I'm so sorry to hear about this, but they should not have been allowed out together, it was just lucky the whole beak wasn't torn off. I would at least consult an avian vet for his opinion, like birdgranna said they have nerves and blood vessels in them and it should be looked at.
10. Congrats, Gazza, on your new baby, I am so happy for you. The time will pass quickly and soon you will be bringing it home to love and care for. Thanks for sharing these pics with us, yes it does take us back, Tracy, and aren't they just adorable as babies.
11. Being within driving distance is where you had the advantage here, Tracy, it would be my luck the item would be half the way around the world and would have to ship it. My daughter shops on ebay but I have yet to try it. That playstand is exactly like the one I have for Josey, but I forget where I purchased it, she enjoys playing on it and I can take it anywhere around the house. Thanks for sharing this tidbit with us, maybe it will give me the incentive to try ebay for once.
12. Oh, Tracy, this is a very good idea, thanks for starting this and I am gonna get right on it, but I will have to put my thinking cap on.B)
13. Thank you Laurie, for sharing that uplifting quote with us, some very good advice, karma for you.
14. Trina wrote: Very good information, Trina, thanks for contributing that to this thread, never thought of it that way before.
15. Feel free to chime in on any thread here on this forum, Boswell, your input is welcome anywhere.
16. Yeah, me too, I wouldn't want it to get cold.
17. Tracy is right, just because we haven't left ours for that long a period of time doesn't mean that the time may come that we do have to leave them for longer than we would want. You do what you have to and it will be fine as long as it does not happen very often.
18. I guess I will be making a trip to Walmart for aloe vera juice, thanks Dave.
19. You better watch her Tracy, she will try to pull a fast one. Free is good, its free for gosh sakes.
20. Rope toys can present the problem, and are best used under supervision like Talon mentioned.
21. I haven't seen Zooky on the site since Wednesday night, August 29th, I hope she is ok and Mende is doing as well as can be expected. I think of her all the time and hope something can be done for Mende but I am afraid the answer is nothing. I really feel for this woman, for I know what it is like to be depressed, I do battle with that all the time. Please don't let this thread go buried before Zooky gets the chance to see how much we love and care for her and Mende. I pray that she will come on again soon and give us some good news or any news would suffice for now. Zooky you are in our thoughts and prayers, you need us and we need you.
22. Well I am gonna get me some boxes, and they aren't going to be precise in size but they will do. But precise is just what engineers do, they can't think any other way, they are so smart they are dumb. Dan must have taken Kim out for dinner, he is not on at the moment, oh well, I will get him later, after Kim is thru with him, I'll get leftovers.
23. Well there you have it, one for and one against, and neither is right or wrong.
24. I have 2 cement or rough perches but Josey's nails are very sharp, I have scratches on my shoulders and arms to prove it. I don't want to have to take her in for a trim too often so I am going to have to start doing it myself with an emery board. She does not use the perches enough I guess or her nails wouldn't be so sharp.
25. Hello Tiny, and welcome to the family, we are glad you joined our grey forum and look forward to hearing more about Jacko. I am sure you will like it here and we are like a second family, we care about our greys and each other. I know you are dealing with issues with a rehomed grey, but it sounds like you are dealing with it pretty well. Just take your time and give him lots of love and attention and he will respond you with his trust and love. If you have a picture of Jacko that you would like to share with us, we would be delighted to see him, I see a small one of him in your avatar but I was hoping you could put one in this thread, it would be larger and we could see him better. Laurie brings up a good point, we don't get into arguments here, we treat each other with respect and expect everyone to do the same. If we do happen to disagree with someone else, we take it to the pm system and do it in private, not in the open forum. Feel free to ask questions, we will be more than happy to get you an answer if we have one and usually someone here has the answer.
