Have you tried a google search, that would be the first suggestion I would have, good ole internet, you either love it or you hate it.

Tip's for getting your grey to eat/try new foods.
judygram replied to lovemyGreys's topic in Bird Food
Very good ideas, Tracy, and that seems to be the most popular question, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing these ideas with us. -
Thanks for sharing some more good pictures of Cosmo with us, we can always count on you for lots of pics, not complaining though, I love them.
-
Well Christoph I couldn't be happier that you have decided to get another grey and I know that this decision wasn't easy for you but I think you have made the right choice. I look forward to hearing more about this Cag and seeing some pictures soon. Keep us informed.

He's a lovely boy, Tess, and thanks for sharing a photo with us.
-
What is your reaction to his throwing his food? I ask because if you go over and tell him to stop it or something similar then that reaction is helping to entertain him and he will only continue it. Just ignore his throwing of food and maybe he will eventually stop it, no reaction means it is not entertaining anymore.

That is an excellent idea, Coachdes, there are always plenty of birds needing a new home, a little more work is involved in getting them to adjust to being in a new place but certainly is rewarding for you. I don't believe you or Birdiebird have introduced yourselves in the welcome room yet, why don't you do that and tell us a little about yourself so we can get to know you a little better.
-
Well thats a first step with the bananas, just take it easy and slow and I am sure you will see progress. I am glad to hear you love this website, we do too and be sure to thank your friend for telling you about it.

Hello and welcome to the family, Tess, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here. I commend you for taking on this grey, you have your hands full but with the proper love and attention I am sure he will eventually come around. I cannot imagine what horrors he has seen in his previous home but he is out of it now and can only get better for it. You have accomplished a lot so far and it will take a lot of time and he may never completely get over the trauma but time will tell. Continue to work with him, talk to him and give him treats to get the better behavior out of him. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Zulu that you would like to share with us we would love to see him. BTW, we love blathering about our greys and you can do it all you want.

For a thread that was titled Please do not laugh, it sure has been a lot of laughing going on because of it. {Feel-good-0002006E}

Yes Hilary, I do like the split top and Josey goes to the top of the toy hook to get as high as she can I would love to have a bird room but I only have 2 parrots so it works better with the cages, but Tracy has 4 greys and a room to themselves works for her. Maybe you don't have to clean cages anymore, Tracy but you still have to clean a whole room, LOL, you just can't get away from the cleaning no matter what you do.
-
I wish you were too, we could have a ball!!!!
-
I agree with Tracy, I prefer playtops and preferably one that has one off to one side like the one I have, it is not as high as if it was on the very top of the cage. About the corner cage, if you have a corner that would be better for a cage then go with it but that is the only place you can put one is in a corner so for me I think a rectangular cage works better, I can put it almost anywhere. And always go with the biggest you can afford except for those giant macaw cages, you don't really need that big for a grey.
-
Then that is all you can do, but do keep putting it in the cage and offering it for you never know one day she just might eat some for she can't eat it if it is not there.
-
The Giants have got to beat the Cowboys, it will make my day if they do. Very nice day today, in the 50's, a slight breeze blowing and the sun is shining at 8:28 am
-
Well it sounds like you have hit on an excellent idea and I hope it works out for you and Max.

Interesting picture of Gizmo and the cat but the cat gets the message I'm sure, thanks for sharing a picture with us.

Hello and welcome to the family, Heather, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here just like we do. Thanks for taking in this grey in need of a home and a good diet, and I assume you took him in to see a vet since he is on medication. How could the previous owners be so neglectful but he is in a loving and stable home now it seems. Seems like he didn't have much trouble adjusting to a new home since he gives you kisses and has picked you as his favorite person. That seems to be the fate of a lot of greys to not talk in the company of others but only when they think they are alone. My Josey does talk in front of me and she even carries on a conversation with my hubby sometimes. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions. We will get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have any pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see him, and what is his name?

Hello and welcome to the family, mom3b1g1969, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and this grey. How on earth could some people blow marijuana smoke in a grey's face, what kind of morons would do such a thing, if I could have caught them in the act I would have literally killed them. It was so nice that he could bond with your oldest son but now he is off to college and no one else can handle him, but all is not lost here. A grey usually will favor one person more than anyone else, but that does not mean he will not get along with the other members of the family. They usually have a different relationship with each member anyway. If you have had him for 7 years you must care deeply for him and I would keep him, not move him on to yet another home for him to get used to more people. I would talk to him a lot, go sit by his cage and read to him and be there for companionship and maybe he will at least step up for you. Give him treats and see if that helps him to come around. He has been with you for 7 years now and he needs to know that you are not going to abandon him, he needs the love and support from his flock. Please read thru the many threads on various topics for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask specific questions you may have. We will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of him you would like to share with us we would love to see him. BTW, what is his name?

Thanks Christoph for letting us know the results of the necropsy and that is unusual to have been a cause of death. I guess you just never know what life has in store for each of us. Don't blame yourself, there was nothing you could have done to prevent it, you didn't even know there was anything wrong with him. I know that greys will always hold a special place in your heart but you have love to give so go ahead and adopt this macaw if that is what you want. I don't have any experience with macaws but some of the other members do and I am sure some of them will chime in with their suggestions and ideas. And it is natural for you to be a little nervous after going thru what you just did but that is human nature and I doubt that you will ever see anything like that again. Keep us posted as to what you are going to do and maybe someday you will be able to give another grey a chance to be loved by you, maybe when the loss of Harley is not so fresh in your mind.

Hello and welcome to the family, Carynn, glad you could join us and I know you are going to love it here just like all of us do. So you have a Tag and he rooms with 3 other parrots, what kind of parrots are the other 3? So Micah loves to hang upside down, my Josey will too but yours must stay that way a lot, I bet it really is entertaining to watch him play that way, I bet he is a real character. You will find a lot of useful information in the many threads on various topics, just read thru as many as you can. Do not hesitate to ask any specific questions you may have, we will do our best to get you an answer and help you in any way we can. If you have a picture of Micah that you would like to share with us we would love to see him and we have an other birds section where you can post some pictures of your other birds if you would like. We aren't picky, we love to see them all.

Hello and welcome to the family, Matt47389, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and Buddy. I commend you for taking in an abused grey, they are special birds and with a lot of patience I am sure you will make a fine friend in Buddy. The poor thing, how anyone can do that to a beautiful creature like a grey is beyond me but with a lot of love and attention I am sure he will come around. We have numerous threads on various topics, read thru them for lots of useful information and do not hesitate to ask any specific questions you may have. We will do what we can to help you make Buddy a welcome companion. If you have any pictures of Buddy you would like to share with is we would love to see him.

Well I will tell you one thing, Joe, I hope the Giants beat the crap out of the Cowboys, how's that for happiness. B) :woohoo: :cheer:

No we don't Bruce, we certainly love the pictures of our greys and even the other birds, I just love looking at the birdies.
