You should get the rough perches that are made of concrete or some substance that has a rough texture to keep the nails filed down, but depending on how much they use them they may still need a clip now and then. I have had to have Josey's talons filed down, she can keep them pretty sharp and when she spends some time on my shoulders she leaves scratches that look like I have been in a cat fight.
Gomez has become territorial about his cage and does not like it when you invade it to get him, just let him come out on his own, he seems to be ok once he is out of the cage. They sometimes can get this way about their cage, it is their sanctuary and the place where they feel most secure so allow him to come out on his own.
Hello and welcome to the family, Shelmae, glad you could join us and we look forward to hearing more about you and your grey.
You say something happened and now no one can hold it, do you know what happened that made that change? Usually there is some kind of change made that brings around that kind of behavior and if you can figure out what that was it will go a long way in bringing about a change for the better.
So how old would you say this grey is now? I say this for it may be going thru sexual maturity and sometimes that hormonal thing brings about behavior changes that are baffling to us. Another thing I would do is schedule an avian vet visit if it has been a while since it has seen one to rule out anything physically wrong.

If you have any pictures you would like to share with us we would love to see it. What is its name and do you know what sex it is?
Yes I do enjoy the pictures and thanks for sharing them with us. Your son and daughter are nice looking young people and his girlfriend is good looking too.
At 20 years of age they are not too young in my opinion to think about getting married, a lot of people do at that age and younger, give them your advice and your wisdom but the decision is ultimately theirs.
Enough about those Giants, I am getting sick of them already.
Gonna be a warm day here, probably up to 70 degrees F but sort of overcast, I hate this up and down temperature change.
Yes thanks Cindy for the update, I appreciate you taking the time to let us know he is still over there and we will keep him in our thoughts and prayers that he returns safe and sound.
Jimmy I think Tari was referring to the cockatoo that is plucking and looks like a scar on its chest, probably from mutilating itself and now feathers won't grow on that patch of skin, but it is a sweet looking bird.
It could be he just isn't as sociable as most, he is more independent and maybe it is because he was not given the opportunity to be around his flock and was left to himself and he is more comfortable by himself. Ttalk to him and include him in your activities and maybe one day he will decide to be a little closer to you and be willing to sit with you but he may just be satisfied to just be close and not on you.
The only baby foods I give Josey is the vegetables, like sweet potatoes, carrots, squash or green beans. I'm with Reta in that processed foods and especially ones that are fortified means that they are made with white flour and such.
Congrats on getting a new cage and a stainless steel one at that, yes it is the best and expensive too. You have a very good friend of a friend and very generous to just give you the cage like that and yes we would love to see a picture of it if you would post one.
Somewhere out there is a grey for you whether it is from a breeder or a rescue in need of a new home and soon I know we will hear that you have one, just be patient and continue that research.
